I actually use the features of a large SUV. I frequently use seating for 8 so a 2nd row bench seat was a must have feature. Leather seats and DVs were a required luxury. In addition I wanted actual tires, not the wagon wheels that new SUVs come equipped with recently. Believe it or not, that is a very difficult combination to find in today's market. I was surprised to find the luxury and utility combination I needed in the Nissan Armada. Glad I did. Very nice running, powerful, luxurious and filled with usable technology. All seats are comfortable with good legroom. Whole family loves it on the highway, dirt roads and around town. Price is very good for the group.

6 month old car had to take it in 4 times already!

I just bought this car in December 2015. New car, no mileage. At about 6000 miles, while in the mountains, the heater stopped working. I took it in, the dealer guys were nice, they fixed it.... Couple days later, a blue liquid was leaking from on top of the right back tire. I had to take it in again. It was the coolant. They couldn't fix it that day, so I had to take it in couple days later (more days waisted on this car)... I got that fixed. Couple weeks later, it started raining, and I realized the windshield was leaking!!!! Yeah, you heard that right. My right side of the car was all wet. It took couple days to fix that meanwhile I had a small car they gave me from the dealership. The last incident happened last week. Today, one week later, I realized the windshield water is not working!!! The back one does, but the front one doesn't!!!! I am so pissed right now! This car is 6 month old!! Now I have to take it in again and leave it there for 3 hours..... Will follow up with what's wrong.

Transmission gave away at 378 miles!

2015 Nissan Armada SV 4dr SUV (5.6L 8cyl 5A)
25 of 27 people found this review helpful

After two months of research, i decided to go purchase a new Armada SV to avoid the troubles that come with a used one. Everything was fine until recently & i even loved the driving experience- it even gave me 13 mpg in city as stated in their manifesto ,haven't driven it long enough to comment on on Highway mpg . However just 2 weeks of ownership and 378 miles, the transmission gave away at a stop sign near a small bridge and the vehicle started rolling backwards. I barely managed to drive it back home,On further inspection the transmission fluid leaked all over the place, still don't know what the exact problem is but its most likely the transmission. Unfortunately this happened on a Saturday evening, hence no support or on call. I have to wait until Monday to report this issue to the dealership, and will update this review on how it goes after that. Either ways, this was not expected from a new Armada- which is supposed to be a rock solid vehicle. Disappointing!!!

Absolutely in love with my BEAST

I stepped up from my honda pilot and purchased this beast. I love it. I have the blue one. Very pretty color. I purchased this certified used. I love the comfort. More comfortable than my couch. I love the ease of getting in and out including the 3rd row. I pull a small trailer with it with 4 wheelers. I would have never done that with the honda. The honda pilot was very difficult to get into the 3rd row. This one is perfect. I have never never been so pleased with a vehicle before. I did not think I would like it because of it's size. Then I drove it. WOW. Reviews read that it gets poor gas mileage. My honda averaged 18-19 mpg. This is a much bigger vehicle v8 pulling a trailer up and down country road hills of Hocking Hills, Ohio and it averages 15.6mpg. So tell me, how is that considered poor mileage? One thing I would recommend.... When you get into the third row, you step where the second row seats sit, there is no floor mat there. I purchased my mats from weather tec because the third row mat goes under the second row seats. Now if you want a review on my weather tec mats, second row doesn't fit or look good. Front and third row are great. Every single person that has been in my beast absolutely loves it. Just as I do. Of course, they don't get to drive it. I used to be a nervous freeway driver (especially beside a semi) that is no longer the case. I love sitting up high. The only issue that I have had is with the window seals. The seals at the bottom of the windshield have both needed to be re-glued. I love my beast. I have had this vehicle for a year now. I am still in love!

Armada, designed to die at 5 years.

Mike davis, 04/22/2016
2015 Nissan Armada SL 4dr SUV (5.6L 8cyl 5A)

Alternator won't power everything, and charge battery at idle. All engine electrical connections designed to fail at 5 year mark. ECU programming for electrical system programmed incorrect from factory. Nissan doesn't lube axle splines or wheel bearing packs from factory- life span 5 years max. Nissan uses sub standard rebranded batteries- life span- max 2 years- no warranty. All front end electrical connections copper wire crimped (not soldered) into pot metal eyelets, bolted to a painted screw hole with painted tin bolts and screws. Voltage transmission efficiency below 25%. 128 bad ground connections in front end. Electrical system programmed to read full charge at 12.1 volts, 11.1 at battery. Impossible to get full charge, even with zero load on system. Differentials and gear are Dana made in Mexico. No heat treating. Expect to replace diffs at least once before warranty expiration. Alternator located at bottom of engine. Deep water will destroy alternator before water gets to running boards. Nissan warranty only covers broken parts. So if your shocks wear out at 20k miles, but don't "break", nissan won't cover them. If your unlubed bearing packs wear out at 20k miles, but don't break into little pieces, nissan won't warranty them. If your axle shaft splines start clanking at 25k miles from lack of lube, nissan will neither fix them, or warranty them, unless they break in two. OEM original rear brake caliper piston holes not drilled parallel. No rear brake operation since new. But not "broken". Nissan won't warranty or repair brakes because they are not "broken" - true since they were also unused and not operable since new. Nissan left all AC service port caps off after recharging AC system. Refused to replace the caps they lost because AC system was not "broken". Nissan front brake calipers, poor design. Traps water and dirt in slider assembly. When nissan performed brake job, they did not replace or clean sliders, did not lube sliders. Sliders stopped working causing brake application to move all force to bearing packs and tie rods. Front original brakes lasted 14k miles. Front bearing hubs lasted 35k miles as a result of brake slider contamination. Bad front brake force geometry also wore out tie rod ends at 50k miles. Nissan won't warranty them because they are not "broken". Brake lights blew one hour after driving car off the lot. Dealership refused to cover them under warranty. Rear tire blew perfect circle 2.5" hole in center of sidewall, in front of dealership at 400 miles. Nissan would not warranty "blem" OEM tires. Front shocks wore out at 14k miles of highway driving. Nissan would not warranty them because they were not "broken". All ball joints wore out due to no lube from factory (OEM) at 50k miles. Nissan refused to warranty them because they were not "broken". Electrical connections in pax window stopped working at 70k miles as did driver seat controls. Nissan refused to warranty them because they are not "broken". Nissan claims 9000lb towing capable with tow package.... Only on runway flat surface. For suspension, brakes, and performance to stay within minimum factory norms, limit tow weight to 4500lbs. Even at only 4500lbs you will be in far right lane, 45mph max, flashers on, with trans overheating if you go up 10% grade for more than two miles. Not possible to tow 4500lb trailer from Yuma to San Diego. Not possible to tow 4500lb boat from Sacramento to Reno. Minimally possible to tow 4500lb boat through Appalacians.

Happy, happy, happy!

I am 3 years and 50,000 miles in on my first Nissan. I apparently get better gas mileage than most - 18 mpg average - which is bad, but not so bad for the size and power this vehicle affords. Converts from school bus duty to cargo van duty in seconds with ease. It has a very strong, quiet engine and many thoughtful creature features. The interior still looks new even after trucking my kids. The one disappointment I have is the paint seems a little thin. Mine is Midnight Garnet, which is a beautiful color, but it scratches easily. The fact that it is so dark makes scratches more noticeable. I anticipated a utility vehicle designed for family use would have a tougher finish. Otherwise our relationship is a happy one.

We bought our 2013 Armada Platinum in February of 2019. At that point, six years old and with 54k miles on the odometer. It had a clean history and services performed on or ahead of schedule at the time we purchased. Since taking ownership, we’ve done a transmission service at 60k and 90k miles, a differential service at 80k miles, and full synthetic oil changes every 5k miles along with routine brake and coolant flush services. Beyond the normal maintenance, the only issues we’ve encountered in our four years and 51k miles of ownership were replacing the starter at 81k miles and the A/C compressor and condenser (condenser wasn’t bad but it’s generally frowned upon to not do both when one goes bad) at 95k miles. Keep in mind that while that mileage was relatively low, the vehicle was eight and ten years old at the point of each service, respectively. We purchased a 48-month extended warranty when we bought the vehicle and it has paid for itself and then some replacing these two items. It has plenty of room for our three kids, aged 15, 11, and 7. We have the 2nd row captain’s chairs, factory headrest DVD system, power folding 3rd row, and power rear vented windows (REALLY useful when a kid “cuts one” in the car…..y’all know it happens) and everything still works flawlessly. No issues with the electrical system, engine, or transmission. For the one reviewer here who said they had to replace the transmission, I’d like to know what their service history was. I’ve spoken with many owners of these vehicles and Titans (which is the Armada’s truck counterpart) and the transmission has never come up as a weak point. It actually shares the same transmission with the 370Z (though with different gearing appropriate for its intended uses, like towing) which is overbuilt to handle the Z’s rear wheel power output. It rides like a truck because it IS a truck. It’s a true, body-on-frame SUV, not a unibody crossover. Still, it’s very pleasant to drive, easy to maneuver, and very comfortable on long trips. My 15-year-old son has even commented on how much more stable it feels to him than other large vehicles he’s driven. Just know that tires matter. We use Michelin Defenders and they’re awesome on this vehicle. The power, smooth highway ride, towing capability, and comfort for a larger family which can all be had at a fraction of the cost of its competitors make this a true hidden gem. Research and review the history if you plan to buy one but just know that if you find a good one, it will service you incredibly well if you simply take care of it. You cannot beat it if you want a full-sized SUV with great reliability and minimal unscheduled maintenance needs. We’re still loving our Armada and I suspect we will hang onto it for a long time to come and see just how much mileage we can get out of it over the next ten years or longer. And for the record, I’ve owned 28 cars in the last 26 years, with a variety of makes and models represented in the collection. I don’t hang onto many of them for too long. This one will be tough to let go of anytime soon, even for me. That’s saying something.

Bought new 2015 Armada ,3000 miles left front suspension noise. Dealer fixed it but the noise is now on the other side and rear .squeeking sometimes. So fed up with this vehicle. Can't wait to trade for a GM. This Armada has a serious appetite for fuel. Feel ripped off.

I replaced my 2006 pathfinder LE with 2015 Platinum Armada. Initially did not want to spend 20 years in a Nissan. Shopped the Infinity, BMW X5, Porsche, Benz, Expedition etc. I wanted a V8 and was going to spend $95,000 for what I wanted. The Armada was the last one I looked at and honestly hadn't even considered it till the end when I got in it. Loved it when I compared it to all the others as soon as I sat down. $47000 plus tax. No complaints at all so far. Melbourne Florida 12/15. I did get 19MPG on a drive to Tampa, but I do drive like an old woman.

2004 2008 2014 2015 2017 2018 and {4} 2020 Armadas. 2004-375k miles and the 2015 has 119k miles. the 2 old-timer mechanics on site explained to me the boss have always loved the Armadas. the mechanics initially laughed at him back in '03 when the first batch of Armadas arrived as his fleet vehicles. Later after almost 2 decades they understood why the boss chose them...their roomier, cheaper than competitor prices, huge towing capacity, and super reliable. the mechanics explained the Armadas were built like commercial use vehicles but were made for consumers. I can vouch about towing.....I tow boats and deliver 8500lb ones uphill freeway driving and i can still do it at 65mph all day long no problem. I asked about the bearings being greased prior to delivery and break wear...they both looked at me like i was stupid...ofcourse they grease the bearings boy they said...how would the wheels turn....brake wear with load use they replace every 50k miles, those that dont pull much around 75k miles but " Boy, they still got lots of meat on those pads but we just go ahead and change at this interval because the boss says so " i have been working here for 2 years and wash and wax these cars and most times i hook up the trailers for some delivery. I like those 2020 too but i prefer to buy my own personal Armada 2015 since i have seen with my own two eyes how reliable these beasts are. If they can handle the daily grind here at work, my 2015 armada that i am searching for will be no problem for my no load no towing just freeway driving and city grocery shopping daily driver will last forever. Hey im lucky i got not 1 but 2 old timers who have worked on them forever so i can always get some advice if i come across a maintenance issue i dont know about.

So I recently purchased a brand new 2015 nissan armada 2 months ago.. I owned a 2006 Armada for over 10years and absolutely loved my truck. But it was getting older and ive never had a vehicle go over 100k before. Since the 2016 model was going to have a totally different look and seemed to be smaller on the inside l decided after going over 100k to get a new one while I could afford to. Within a few days there was the worst smell coming from the a/c. A new car that literally smelled like dirty socks. I did some research decided to try lysol and let the fan blow on high to try to dry it out but it didnt work. I took it back to the dealer who claimed nothing wrong with the a/c its just when the temps reach over a 100 degrees its hard on the a/c. They put in a freshener that lasted a couple of days, but the smell came back, but wasnt as bad as before so I figured Im taking a road trip hopefully that will help dry out the system. But here I am 2 months into it and my mom literally gagged when the air came on the other day the smell was so bad. After talking to my sister in law who also owns a 2015 nissan rogue explained she has been having the same issue so it sounds like nissan did a bad job with the a/c unit all together. Everyone tells me your new car should not be smelling like this and of course I totally agree!!!!, I will be contacting the dealer again to see about getting something done. I also am not pleased at all with the interior. Not sure what type of material it is but its similar to suede and is already showing signs of wear on it. I thought I should invest in seat covers but the dealer said they dont sale them do to the airbags in the seats. The sales guys said should be covered in the warranty should they wear badly within 3years(we’ll see how that goes, but i dont plan on keeping it that long). My previous Armada’s had the bose system as well, this one is supposed to but it never sounds quite as clear and i miss the 6 disc option I had previously. The steering wheel will adjust up but will not lock in place which is a dissapointment if you are on the heavier side or over 6 feet tall in my opinion. The dash as well as the rest of the interior is also made of a different softer material that is very dull looking and seems to attract lent so it always looks dirty to me. Overall for this to be a newer model i feel they did a very poor job and they should have left it alone because there so called improvements ARE NOT.

Bought a platinum reserve 4x4. To replace our 2005 Armada LE that has 230000 miles still looks great and is our second car. Replacing my 2001 Frontier. That frontier replaced my 1995 nissan pickup. Needless to say I have had great success with Nissan vehicles. I expect the same with the new one. If I have a problem that's why I have the extended warranty. Love all the bells and whistles. Looked at the competition and the Armada feels more luxurious. Of course the gas mileage isn't the best . I knew that before buying. I always make sure it gets the schedule maintenance and pre check before long trips. I highly recommend the Armada over any other SUV

An Armada and a 6,500 lb boat

I wanted a Toyota Land Cruiser. But it was $25,000. more than the comparable Armada. The first thing that I noticed is that it is spacious and will hold 7 adults. The second thing I like is the back-up camera. When I drove it I noticed the power. I does pull our 6,500 lb boat. Part of the reason that I wanted this vehicle is that it is rated to pull even more weight than that. It rides very smoothly. It is very well sound proofed. The suspension is very compliant. I'm very happy with the Bose radio, CD, Blue Tooth system. It has 4 drive modes, 2 wheel rear wheel drive, all wheel drive, 4 wheel high, and 4 wheel low. I have used all wheel drive for 300 miles at the cost of 2 mpg. We bought the car in November 2016. Someone ran into this Armada and totaled it. We bought a new 2019 Armada because we liked the 2016 so much.

Break Pads go out!! & Dismall Fuel Economy

New Nissan Armada with just 700 Miles on it, On my way home the brake light came on and I had no braking power, while I was on the highway. There was a grinding noise and a buzzing sound. Luckily, I made it to a service station and had it checked out. They called me today saying it was fine now but are suggesting I replace the front and rear rotors and pads plus changing the brake fluid that could cost up to $1500, luckily the warranty covers it for now. After further research, they found out it not a mechanical issue, but its the a computer issue that Nissan needs to address. Called up Nissan Consumer affairs, and they keep saying the same thing- We are looking at this, regional specialist will call you etc etc. Oh, and one another fun fact- 12 Mpg is the most you can get, this is after i tested it on the highway at 60 miles with 1500 RPM. Good luck with finding those magical numbers 15 & 19 MPG!!!

I purchased this Armada after having two Pathfinders that I loved but needed more room. It was used with 20,000 miles. I now have 65,000 miles and have not had one problem. I think some of these other reviews are BS as I just had original breaks checked and they are still great. I will probably get 100,000 miles on original pads. I paid $32,000 for this vehicle which was 10s of thousands less that a similar Toyota or Ford Chevy etc. New. I have not had one problem since I have had it does absolutely everything we have asked it to do. Stereo with satellite radio is amazing as is blue tooth. Put this on your shopping list and you won't regret it. It's a huge value for price and performance!

I guess I'm lucky as I don't have any issues as so many others have on this site. Purchased my 2015 Armada new and 15,000 miles later no issues whatsoever. It rides nice and quiet and great towing capacity. Leather is plastic like but so was my Suburban. I'm not paying 95k for an Escalade. I got this fully equipped Platinum for mid 40's. For the price I got a lot of truck and I'm very happy with it. Only bad thing is gas mileage but that was no surprise.

This will be my 6th Armada. I prefer the pre 2016 model. I feel like the post 2016 is just to pimped out. I have found Armadas to be reliable, capable and a gret value. they have walked me up winter mountain sides, past Jeeps, GMC's, with no difficulty. I always buy 4WD. The Anti Roll electronics really works well, as I discovered while dodging a deer one day. I would like to see more breaking power, as it is important when towing the heavy loads, and the trailer breaks don't always work. I appreciate that the 3rd row seat is actually a full size bench seat. I had a Suburban, the third row seat was a sad joke. The ride is a bit stiff at times, but I prefer it to a too soft ride. I have always been happy with Nissan products. I also have two Jukes, and NV3500 SL and a Murano. CVT transmission is a bit of a concern, but all working well so far.

This is our second armada. We still have our first armada as our second vehicle. 230000+ miles on it with regular maintenance. My fourth Nissan. Two frontiers with 250000+ miles each with no major problems, just routine maintenance

My 2015 armada has been the best and most reliable vehicle out of every car I have ever owned, and that is a lot of vehicles! Yes, it has its maintenance here and there but what car doesn't? I LOVE IT

We’ve owned this 2015 since new, and have been more than satisfied with our PLATINUM trimmed Armada. The last model year of body on frame construction, it is one tough SUV. Economical, no. But in 7 years, no mechanical repairs needed or suspension problems to report. Easy traveling from Chicago to Florida. Very happy with this purchase. It’s in it for the long haul. 🛻

Armada Saved my Life

I was involved in a roll over wreck at medium speeds due to a weather related incident back in April. This truck saved my life, it ended up on its roof and managed not to collapse on itself due to the strength of the structure of the cabin. The sun roof did pop out and glass was everywhere so keep that in mind if you like fancy things. But I was able to climb out from the wreckage. The computer isnt the smartest on these older ones it continued to run after being flipped over. It will save your life if your involved in an accident its a very safe vehichle and i want to thank the designers, builders and engineers that made this vehicle you really saved a life and probably a bunch more then just mine with this smart build.

2015 Armada used 133k miles. Runs great but previous owners put awful Goodyear ultra terrain and it rode like a truck. I put Continental Cross Contact lx20 and it’s puyrfect ride. I love the fact that it has not changed. They still have the reliable 7 speed tranny and strong 5.6 v8

Love my Armada and I am 5ft 2, 100lbs. Only issues I've had are being short, and having 6 kids to load in the back. It is a bit difficult loading the full car but I think I've trained my crew. :-P I'm smaller so the steering can be a bit difficult but I've gotten use to it. Other than that, love the interior, speakers, front seats are amazing.
