Overview
The Mercedes-Benz GLC is the German luxury carmaker's small SUV and best-selling vehicle. The GLC Coupe version features a sloping coupe-inspired rear roofline that gives it a sleeker silhouette in exchange for slightly reduced rear seat headroom and cargo capacity. After a full redesign last year, the GLC Coupe heads into 2025 with a new high-performance AMG GLC 63 S E Performance version with an eye-opening 671 horsepower.
Edmunds spotlight: The AMG GLC 63 is a very different plug-in hybrid
Yep, the AMG GLC 63 is back. But unlike previous years, it doesn't have a burly V8 under the hood. Instead, it combines a turbocharged four-cylinder engine with the latest in plug-in hybrid technology. Altogether, this powertrain makes more power than the previous V8 and should be more efficient too. Don't expect the kind of fuel savings you'll get with a typical plug-in hybrid, however. This system is built with power in mind and will only return around 6 or 8 miles of EV-only range.
Competitors to consider
The BMW X4 is a top alternative to the GLC Coupe. It's based on the X3 and has a sleek couple-like roofline. The X4 M version is BMW's counterpoint to the new AMG GLC 63 S E Performance. We also recommend the Porsche Macan, which is the sportiest of this trio.
Which GLC-Class Coupe does Edmunds recommend?
The entry-level GLC 300 4Matic should satisfy the majority of drivers who want a blend of luxury, comfort and style. The extra power from the AMG GLC 43 is welcome but ultimately hard to justify considering how much more it costs.
