2014 Honda CR-V LX 4dr SUV (2.4L 4cyl 5A)

If you need a good all around vehicle, I would recommend this one. I'm really proud of this car. The trunk is really roomy and there is a lot of legroom. Perfect height for average people, even my 4yo can get in and out by herself. But still high enough to go through 2.5 feet of fresh snow up an 1/8 mile driveway. We used to have a honda odyssey minivan and we replaced it with this CRV. I was worried about stepping down from a V6 to 4 cylinder for our road trips. Going over the big mountain passes in cruise control, the odyssey would downshift to around 3k rpm and this CRV does the same. I feel that the lighter weight offsets the smaller engine. I would have given 5 stars if it weren't for the darn VTC actuator clacking on cold starts and darn front seat head rests/restarints. I have checked with my mechanic and the VTC actuator is just an annoyance. I have to recline the front seat back a little and then the Fwd cant of the headrest is not so bad. The head rest was designed this way to reduce neck injury, so I understand. I took this car for a 3000 mile trip this last winter and it did about 25.5 mpg with blizzaKS and a Thule roof box. Again we had so much snow in utah. With studless snow tires on, I went through all sorts of snow. Handling was great going over Snoqualmie pass, blue mountains, Sierra nevadas, tahoe, donner pass and siskiyou's. We had white out conditions with blowing snow and this little CRV did not skip a beat. Good tires are important to go and stop, awd just helps to go fwd. I'll update again after this spring break trip to Mt. Rushmore from Seattle. Hope this review helps

Good Car - but has quality issues

I bought the Honda CRV 2014 model. It gives a good gas mileage. After driving for 6 months here are my griefs about it. 1) The driver seat loses its height on its own. I have to pump it up every week. I consulted the dealership and they said that the mechanism is not broken - as the seat does go up & down on the push of the lever. And there is nothing they can do. 2) I get a low frequency humming sound some where from the rear of the vehile. It happened every time during the winter when I cold start the engine & am driving in the parking lot. After 5 minutes of driving it never happens again. Not noticing it in anymore as the weather has become warm now.

Compared to an Escape

2014 Honda CR-V LX 4dr SUV AWD (2.4L 4cyl 5A)

Have owned a LX AWD model since March 2014 and am currently leasing a 2015 Escape SE 2.0 AWD so that is my comparison. The Honda is noisier than the Escape. The seats seem more comfortable to me in the Honda. The back seat is significantly larger than the Escape which makes putting my daughter in her car seat much easier. Also there is no comparison in the amount of cargo the CRV can hold compared to the Escape; the CRV wins hands down. The back up camera is at a better angle than the Escape as I find the one in the Escape is always covered by water, dirt or snow whereas the Honda is almost always clean. I prefer the CRVs camera even though the screen is much smaller. MPG has been as high as 33 on a road trip from NYC to North Carolina and I've seen as low as 20 in a NYC winter. Overall the CRV is averaging 22mpg commuting from Staten Island to Brooklyn in traffic almost every day. Maintenance has been averaging 1x/year and the most recent scheduled maintenance was the most expensive yet at $240 only because the rear differential fluid had to be changed. If I could name one con it would definitely be the headlights; they are very poor and do not illuminate the road well at all. There was one recent unexpected expense which were the brakes at 16,700 miles. The car was sitting for 2.5 weeks while on vacation over the summer and when we came back the CRV had developed a thumping sound when pressing the brakes. Took it to a mechanic and was told the excessive heat of 95-100+ plus the large amounts of rain while it was sitting on the street caused the rotors to become warped; $460 later the thumping went away with new rotors and pads on the front. I don't know if it was an anomaly or if it was the low quality Honda pads and rotors on the car. Otherwise my wife and I are very happy with the CRV and will most likely be getting another Honda when the lease ends on the Escape.

Our Favorite Honda Yet

After three Accords, dating back to 1994, my wife and I purchased our 2014 CRV. My wife is the primary driver, and she loves the higher seating position. Also, both of us find the vehicle to be very comfortable on long trips. We've put on 4K miles in the first 2 months we've owned it. The mileage isn't great as far as what is available in vehicles today, but for a new AWD vehicle, it gets in the high 20's. Our best mileage was on a trip returning to Phoenix from Show Low, Arizona where we got 32.5 mpg, but it is mostly downhill. Some reviewers find the 5 speed automatic to be outdated, but we have found that the unit works just fine in this application. We love our CRV.

2014 CR-V EX-L AWD Real World Review

I just bought the car a little over a week ago. Before purchasing I had narrowed down my search to Toyota, Mazda and Honda. I chose the Honda because I really liked the roomy interior and it was fun to drive. The gas mileage was also a deciding factor, although all three car makers were very close in that category. I also chose the Honda for its reliability and resale value.

"Cry wolf" tire light and redundant warning screen

I bought the 2014 model because I needed an AWD in central NY snow. I like to wait a year to post reviews because I want to really get to know my car. PROs - Reliable, comfortable, functional, gas mileage CONS - After starting the car, it takes several screens of warnings before I get to my GPS and punch in my destination. Why? FIrst a screen about the satellite for 60 seconds. What is stupid warnings like "Driver is responsible for operation of vehicle" warning? Really? The DMV thinks so. When will you Honda? Duh! WHy don't you have me sign a release when I buy the car so I don't have to look at this every single time I start my car. Takes 30 seconds AFTER you hit OK for the next screen.T hen comes a screen saying your phone is connected for another 30 seconds. Malfunctioning tire pressure light since the day I bought it. Dealership cannot fix it. This is so stressful when you are driving in bad weather because I can't tell if this time the light is for real or just faking it. Poor radio reception. I get 2 stations while all my neighbors get 6 or 8 stations GPS navigation is not intuitive like other cars. Needs too many clicks to get your destination or to find your address book. Screen is invisible when sun shines on it. Need anti glare screen. it takes several screens of warnings before I get to my GPS and punch in my destination. Why? Salem dealership is not knowledgeable. Did not fix my shuddering brakes. Just told me to keep driving and it would go away which it has not. Cruise control has 5 - 10 miles/hr variance on hills after I have set it. This could result in a speeding ticket! Motor is very loud while driving

Bought the new crv 2014 lx model July of 2014. Just this winter when temperature drops 40 f below, grinding sound from the engine will shoot up for 5 to 8 seconds ( first start in the morning. Took it to the dealer and change the vtc actuator. Scared that it will sound again because a lot of crv owners experienced the sound over again even though they changed the part several times. They should do a recall for this.

We have had our CR-V for over two years now , and I thought some of the ratings here were a bit unfair. This car is, and will be reliable for a long time, has excellent control, handling and visibility, and holds its own among similar crossovers or small SUVs. It took me awhile to warm up to the little car, but my wife loved it from day one. We were having a child, and planning on another. Our two dogs and kids all fit just fine, with to spare. The only cons I can think of are the interior seems a bit dated for the higher end model we chose, and the mileage could be a bit better for the size of the engine. Honda could also offer a more affordable extended warranty. It runs great, is quiet and handles well over the passes in winter. We hope to keep it for a very long time.

Honda saved my life TWICE!

In the last 12 months, I have been involved in 2 auto accidents. One should have hurt or even possibly killed me. I was driving 60mph when a car came out from under an over pass and ran a Red Light and I T-bone'd them withouot hitting the brakes... it totaled my HONDA CIViC (with 260,000 miles) …. but, instead of the engine ending up coming through the dashboard and on top of me and my passenger... it dropped down and out of the car and the impact bars nd air bags saved me...everyone walked away from that wreck. When I received my insurance $ I went car shopping and without a doubt selected another Honda. I chose an suv this time and went with the CRV. Well, not even a year after my first accident, just last Thursday, I was rear-ended at 45 mph while at a complete stop. The woman who hit me, never hit her brakes (and was also ticketed on site)... the adjuster contacted me today, and although my CRV was still drivable, it did approximately $5000k worth of damage to my car. The majority of that was the impact bars that "did their job" by breaking, bending, and preventing the collision from being worse on the passengers. I am on the road 90% of the time. Not only do I love the economic value of my Honda but it has proven over and over now, that it is 100% dedicated to protecting the passengers in the event of a collision. KUDOS HONDA! Job well done!

I read all of the 2013 reviews before purchasing my 2014. I decided to go with the EX-L without navigation. I couldn't imagine going without a passenger seat arm rest. The dealer got me a CR-V without navigation (since those reviews are terrible) and without the entertainment system, which I don't need. It looks good, runs well, has sufficient pickup even in ECO mode. One reviewer complained about the headrest--but on the EX-L the seat is infinitely adjustable so that's easily corrected. The sound system works sufficiently well for me. Headlights seem to light just fine, but I drive only in well lit suburban areas. Controls are easy to see and operate.

2014 CR-V far better than the 2009 model

Just traded in our 2009 CR-V for a new 2014 CR-V. My wife loved the 2009 but I thought it was just OK. Didn’t plan to buy a new car but the trade in was so good I could not pass up the new CR-V. The 2014 is a far better car. I love it. Better body styling, better handling, a lot more quiet on the road, more comfortable, more upscale interior, more standard features, better acceleration and better gas mileage. From a price/quality/performance perspective this is a great car, plus you get Honda’s reliability. I recommend the EX-L model.

Had a lease-up on a Rav4, which had the rare 3rd row that I found useful. I was reluctant to give that up but excited to try the Honda with many friends loving their Odysseys, CRVs, etc. I absolutely LOVED the car (had it 3 wks), but I was shocked(and terrified) last night when I was heading home on somewhat rural drive in a pretty bad storm. The headlights are inadequate at best in that sitch. Rain was heavy and roads were dark but it was far from the worst storm I have driven in. Low beam illum. was poor and the brights did nothing but point straight at the rain and reflect back. Never a problem in the Toyota.Researched when I got home and see it's widely reported.Much loved otherwise

The VTC actuator. During cold winter mornings a loud rattle occurs when first starting the car. Honda says it's normal and is the VTC actuator which is not causing any damage. I've had my CRV for 2 years now and Honda has not made any repairs for this. I consider this a manufacture defect. I don't like an SUV that rattles during the first cold start of the day. If this isn't fixed in the next year, I'm getting a Toyota.

I was excited on purchasing a brand new CRV, but the short test drive did not reveal this crossovers shortcomings. After a month and 2K miles, below are my observations: 1) Harsh/bumpy ride - you feel each and every road crack, unless the road is not freshly laid, the ride is tiresome 2) Too much windnoise - went to the dealer twice, but they mentioned that it is the characteristic of the vehicle. The door seals/insulation is not very good 3) Too much road noise on certain road surfaces 4) The stereo is a joke, my 15 year old second car has better sounding stereo and speakers 5) Seats are not comfortable - lack of thigh support on rear bench and front seat headrests tilt way too forward

I really enjoy this car, and here is why. 1) the transmission shifts like I think a transmission should. Nice clean shifts, no hesitation, quick to downshift. I've had GM's version (Equinox/Terrain/every other 2.4L GM car) and I hate the way their tranny shifts. 2) the seats have fold down armrests - they are perfect for me. 3) the center console with the sliding door - so easy to open and access from the driver's seat. 4) the controls for heat/ac and radio are so simple and straightforward. 5) the mileage - i regularly get 28mpg on my 65 mile roundtrip to work and back through mixed hwy/city. If I had to complain about anything there are two things. 1) on startup in colder weather, the engine makes a quick rattle that sounds like metal on metal. Many Honda 2.4s have this, apparently, but the dealer says its nothing to worry about. So i don't worry, but it sounds bad in the morning. 2) wind noise is more noticeable than in my wife's Ford Focus. Its not bad, but could be quieter. All that being said, I can't really say for sure what I like best, just that I really enjoy driving this car. And I've had a lot of cars. This is one of my faves. Got about 15,000 miles on it so far.

We purchased our CR-V new on 8/2014 after donating our 2002 Mazda MPV minivan which we purchased new and had over 170,000 miles on. The big jump in technology and efficiency has been great. The airy feel of the CR-V interior is an easy transition from our old minivan. Even the armrests built into the seats is reminiscent (though I think the 2015 doesn't have that feature anymore.) Gas mileage has ranged in the upper 20's on mixed driving. The engine is very smooth and relatively quiet and road noise seems reasonable. (More quiet than our old car.) We really looked at and wanted to like the Mazda CX-5 to stay in the Mazda family, but we found the interior to be cramped and dark.

I traded my 2008 CRV in for a 2014 CRV. I had looked at the Ford Escape, Hyundai Santa Fe, Jeep Grand Cherokee, and Subaru Forester, but felt that the CRV was the best overall SUV for me. Another big factor in my decision was the excellent service that I have experienced at the local Honda dealer. I was disappointed in the choice of exterior colors (mostly dark shades) and very limited choice of interior colors. On our first long trip we averaged 28-29 mpg. I'm hoping that will improve to 30-31 mpg which I got on my 2008 CRV. One minor annoying issue was the same weak, whimpy horns that I had on my 2008. For $100, I had Honda upgrade my horns to the louder, stronger Honda Accord horns.

My wife and I bought our 2014 Honda CRV one year ago when we traded in our 2009 Nissan Xterra for what we thought would be an upgrade. We recently took our Honda into the local dealership for routine service and a problem with the air conditioning. The vehicle had 15000 miles so we were not worried with a repair cost due to the BUMBER TO BUMBER Warranty of 36000 miles. I go in and tell the technician the problem and state that the problem should be covered under warranty and his first statement was not so fast that if it was a hole in the condenser for the A/C it would not be covered. Major problem with the whole A/C on the CRV's. Paid 600 for repair on a brand new car.

There are a lot of things about this car I love but it has three really poor features that Honda should fix. First, when driving around 90 to 95 kph there is an intermittent, high-pitched whine that can be loud enough to hear over the radio. Honda says it's a "characteristic" of the vehicle, although both the salesman and the mechanic admitted to me that it's loud enough to drive you crazy on a long trip. Second, I paid about $800 for the navigation system only to find the GPS to be almost useless. I finally added a $150 GPS from Costco to help me find my way. Third, if you're driving a lot in the U.S., take a look at the grayed-out mph markings on the speedometer.

Our CRV LX is used as our airport car, NY City car, bad weather vehicle and shopping center car. It gets none of the glory trips, only the tough errands. It soaks up the potholes and does not rattle. The cargo hold puts larger SUVs to shame. Fuel mileage is ok, we only get about 20 mpg, but mostly city driving and short trips. It is very impressive in snow. Very stable with great traction. All in all, a terrific value, but not a great long distance car. Head lights need a lot of improvement.

I traded after 1 year. The stereo and Bluetooth started having major issues. Dealership kept telling me it couldn't be fixed, tried blaming my cell phone. Same phone the entire time I had the phone the entire time I had the car. Phone worked fine with any other car I drove. They just didn't want to replace the stereo navigation unit because it's it's a couple thousand dollars and I was nearing the end of the warranty. Disappointed in the car and in how Honda dealers treated me with the problems. UPDATE: 2 years after trading I finally hear that Honda had a problem with bluetooth, they would not admit it, they would not recall it, and they would not even bother to fix it. I have a 2016 CRV now, and no bluetooth issues. Much happier with the 2016 than I was with the 2014. 7 months in with the 2016 and zero issues. The 2016 also has much more comfortable seats. I was never very happy with the seats in the 2014. for long trips my back would hurt and my butt went numb. The seats were just too firm. Seating in the 2016 is much more soft and offers more comfort and support by conforming to your shape not trying to make you conform to it. If you are looking at the 2014 model I'd suggest spend a little more money if you can, and go for a newer one so you don't inherit someone else's issues that Honda refused to fix.

I bought this CRV EX L AWD new in 2014 and have 73000 miles . I would give it a 5 star rating in every way EXCEPT the headlights at night are terrible and even worse in rain , on dim they shine about 10 feet and the brights shine out about 25 feet and it's dark in front of the car. I've got out of the car to make sure they are even on ! All that being said I love the looks , ride and performance of this car. I want to get a 2019 CRV but I'll test drive on a rainy night .

Same complaints as other folks, and lots to like. My VTC actuator started making the grinding noise, as well. Was worried that it might do some damage, so I took it in. Had the service manager contact Honda, and they paid for a substantial amount to have a new one installed. It's been fine ever since. Stereo is weak (music is VERY important to me), so I looked into having the entire system replaced. This would have been too expensive, but the stereo shop recommended a Kenwood powered subwoofer that I had installed under the driver seat. Now it sounds phenomenal! The sub takes all the heat off the main unit and it gets loud & clear. Car is under-powered. I find myself using low gears to accelerate faster off the line, and I also downshift for a passing gear using the button on the side of the shifter. I call it my nitrous button, lol. No complaints about the interior. I see reviews saying the interior is cheap-looking, but I have no problem with it. The interior is very functional and easy to clean. When I was looking at used cars, I compared the back seats to the RAV 4, and the RAV's rear seats seemed flimsy compared to the CR-V. I like the fact you can pull the straps and the seats automatically fold (almost) flat. My dog loves the spacious cargo area. I haven't had occasion to appreciate the AWD. Almost wish I didn't have it (not much use for it here in NorCal), as the gas mileage is underwhelming (around 22 mpg city/hiway), but I drive this car a bit harder than the little old ladies I normally see driving CR-Vs. Love the look of the car- I wash it a LOT and wax it often. I get compliments on it, especially after I got some nice black wheels from Tire Rack (my EX has 17" wheels and looks better than the standard 16" wheels on the LX). Love the sunroof and the tinted windows on the cargo area. Lights work great at night- I have a little night vision problem, but they are bright enough for me. Fog lights are great, too. I wish the passenger side window had auto up/down like the driver's side, but this is a nitpick. I don't use the nav system (I use my smart phone). AC/heater work very well- plenty cool in summer & warm in the winter. AC doesn't seem to affect engine power much, unlike my last vehicle, and engine temps stay constant no matter how hot it is outside. I joke that the gauge is stuck, because it never seems to move. Always at a good temp (last car overheated at temps above 70 degrees). What else? Paint started to peel off the strip above the rear window. Took it to an auto body shop and they painted it black for a nominal fee. Honda would have helped me out but still would have cost over $300 to have this small strip repainted.Hood paint color slightly different that the rest of the car. All said, I would definitely buy this car again. I hope it lasts forever.

bring back a manual transmission in the CRV

would love to see a manual transmission brought backn in the CR-V. would like to see the AC unit moved back like the 2008 2009 2010 models. Why consumers aren't wising up is beyond me. Who wants AC blowing on their hand all the time - that's why I gave the interior design a 2, otherwise, pretty perfect vehicle. Would like to see the sun visors with a pull-out mechanism like in the toyota camry. There is NO protection from the sun in this 2014 CR-V. Zero.... get a towel because you're going to need one. need to work on the visibility out of the vehicle on all viewing - sides & rear.

I was surprised to see that road noise was not included in the CONS review. This does not bother everyone but it does bother me. Solution, I purchased sound deadening material and installed it from firewall to back. This helped. Then I did the doors. Big improvement but still road noise from wheel wells. I'm 6' and weigh 240. For a long trip the seats and noise are just tiresome. And if you are on a curvy road the CRV doesn't handle great. Bottom line, this is not a driver's car or a guy's car and I guess that;s why my wife loves it.

After driving an Integra for 12 years, it's quite an adjustment switching to an SUV. The back up camera in en excellent tool, but should not be used exclusively when in reverse - there's still no substitute for looking out that back. The city gas mileage is way lower than I expected: 16 mpg is the highest I've gotten and this is driving with conserving gas in mind. Highway is more acceptable at 26 mpg. I got this in the winter time and it is colder than usual. The heater in the CR-V takes several minutes to get going and provide heat. Just as I start to feel comfortable, I have arrived at my destination (work commute is less than 15 minutes.)

Arrived to dealer from factory with a defective windshield- replaced. Battery leaked acid after 7 months - replaced, stealership tried to charge for battery service - battery leaked acid and it had to be wiped - failed, warranty service. Uncomfortable seats, no arm rest on passenger side, impossible to vacuum debris magnet upholstery, carpet, worst materials ever, plastic is prone to scratches, no hand brake, only parking brake pedal too low, seat height adjustment lever in a bad spot, touch with the thigh every time get in and out, seat lowers and needs to be raised. The more i get in and out the more often it happens. Paint prone to scratches. Radiator is open, no grille, not possible or difficult to custom install, MPG combined stop-and-go bumper to bumper or highway normal conditions low 20's. No maintenance schedule, have to go by the stupid maintenance minder. Nothing like my previous 2004 honda. This one is my last.

It has a peppy 4 cylinder engine that's economical AND utterly reliable. Consider this to be a 200,000 to 400,000 mile auto. For RV's most importantly this year model, 2014, is the LAST year CRV that can be towed 4 wheels on the ground without modification to the engine/drive train. Simply add a towing assembly that you enjoy (Blue Ox for me) and go. My reason for owning two is simply that I tow my Honda behind a large diesel motor home. Should someone wreck one I still have the other. (and before you ask, yes they are the same color *G*) My only complaint with this vehicle is that at Interstate speeds the road noise inside is high. Bluetooth hands free cellular usage. Bluetooth allows usage of MY music from my cell phone or use XM radio.

I am very disappointed that I have had my new 2014 CRV for three weeks and it has a problem with the differential. On the test drive, the AWD light came on and the salesman said it was nothing. It has come on three times since, and after much discussion with the dealer they are going to put a new motor on the differential. This is very disappointing because I bought the CRV for its reliability. Would not buy CRV again.

We purchased our CRV in November and love the vehicle with one exception. The fuel mileage isn't anywhere close to what it was sold as being. My wife has a daily commute of 30 miles each way to work, so fuel economy was a major factor in our decision. Although with 90% of our driving being interstate, the vehicle is only averaging 23.5 mpg even with the eco turned on. If you are looking at the CRV for the fuel economy, I would recommend looking at another vehicle.

My biggest complaint is the poor handling, very rough ride, on some surfaces it feels like the rear wheels hop over surface especially at freeway speed. At times it real feels dangerous. Road noise is high at 70mph on some surfaces you can't even carry on a conversation. At slower speeds the ride is rough. It only rides well on a very smooth surface. Fuel mileage is good for the size of vehicle. Engine performance is good for a 4 cyl. Transmission has works well. It is the base model so maybe the other models do better.

My car has close to 10.000 miles and I've not had a single problem with it. After cleaning it it still looks 100% new outside and inside. The average fuel consumption has been around 24 miles per gallon (including city driving in Atlanta and highway driving) which is similar to what I was getting with my previous car (civic 2009). I've done a few long trips (12 hours) and is a comfortable ride. I've only visited the dealership for oil changes. The only issue is that I didn't have a good experience buying from Curry Honda.

I bought this pre-owned, 2014 Honda CR-V for $16,900. I think it was a fair price. I didn't want the leather package and the navigation system of the EX_L was overwhelming to me but loved the options of the EX: Power moonroof, nice sound system, and enough electronic ports to make me very happy. There seems to be a hitch in the automatic transmission going from 1st to 2nd gears, but I'll have the dealership look into that. After having the car for 3 weeks, I drove it from NC to D.C. The comfort and driving were great. The Bluetooth works great and the sound system was really nice. I'd definitely recommend this vehicle for Honda lovers moving from a smaller vehicle to something more roomy.

Bought new in 2014. This is a "no frills" car. I like it this way. No leather seats, array of electronics extras, etc. So far no problems at all. Pros: enough power, mpg is quite good, nimble tracking on roadway (light steering feel), tracks well in snow and ice, very smooth shifting auto transmission (yea no CVT!!), exterior paint is almost metal flake there is so much metallic there, roomy interior (good spacing upfront), storage are is sufficient. dashboard lay out is simple the way I like it. Enough maintenance I can still do at age 71 to keep the "gear head" in me happy. My first Honda was the Accord hatchback. 1981 model. Kept it for 25 years. Mis that car. Had to let it go as the wiring in one area began to fail. Our second Honda was an Accord, I forget the year. It ran flawlessly for many years. Cons: lay flat second seat row would be best for packing in more stuff. We bought a 2020 Volvo XC60 for my wife. I prefer the Honda. Update: June 6, 2020. 48000+ miles only: no problems. This car will likely out live me. GEN 4 Hondas are gems: no CVT, no little 1.5 ltr turbo.

Long list of concerns you should be aware of after 4 years of owning, I don't own this vehicle anymore it got that bad. If you want to visit the dealership regularly then this is the car for you. I was very up to date on my maintaince for this CRV but the issues it had were beyond regular maintenance. Very disappointed is a supposed to be dependable Honda, very much not. The bad- TPMS light on a lot, Fautly VTC makes grinding noises 3 seconds on start up in the cold, vibrations in the drivetrain and brakes all the time, cars computer needing multiple updates to stop transmission slips and jerks, very uncomfortable I needed a special pillow to help my back, brake rotors needing to replace 2-3 times a year along with alignments. The list goes on and on, do yourself a favor and research and don't read most of the reviews on here there only lies on what this car is like.

Purchased this late November 2013 and have put a little less than 1,000 miles on it so far. Very happy with it so far, except for the gas mileage is below 20 mpg even with the eco button turned on, although almost all my driving so far have been on distances of less than 5 miles... mostly 2-3 miles. Features I enjoy the most is the USB and Bluetooth connectivity. When you hook your I phone to the USB port, Pandora can be fully controlled with the car's audio system controls, including channel. The backup camera is convenient too!

Now that Honda has fix the VTC actuator (updated part installed), I have only one minor complaint. I can't use the text respond feature with my IPHONE. It may be an IPHONE problem. Car has enough power to keep up with traffic. It handles good. I like the electronic power steering. There is plenty of storage for hauling stuff. The backup camera is very helpful. I prefer the wide angle view. The front seat comfort is satisfactory, but I think it could be improved. You need to remember its not an Accord and will not have the comfort of an Accord. 2017 and car is still reliable. No problems Jan 2018 traded for 2018 CRV. Was still excellent when traded.

I have always had fantastic luck with Honda. My first new car was an Accord. One of my favorite cars of all time was a Pilot. The Pilot was great with teenage kids and all their friends and activities. One of my daughter's chose a Civic as her first car. It held its value very well. Netting out the insurance payment after the last crash from the purchase price, she drove it for seven years and 92,000 for a little over $5000. After my kids were gone, I downsized to a CRV. This is my second one. The first one I traded my lease in at the end of the three years even up--even though it had 66,000 miles and needed tires. They are dependable in all types of weather from Wisconsin winter to California hot summer. This car has always driven great and the only reason that I am selling it is to buy a new car.

After selling an Acura MDX due it's very thirsty motor and hunting transmission we thought we would just buy a simple, reliable car to get around in. The CRV seemed to fit the bill and we were quickly a 2014 EX AWD owner. Our car averaged about 25 MPG over the course of the 12K of ownership which is OK for a car of its size. The throttle was very touchy and somewhat hard to drive in a smooth fashion. The Green drive button helped to smooth the head jerking starts. At about 8k we acquired a barking dog sound from the rear every time you would start and stop. We had a rattle in the dash on the drivers side and the dreaded cam shaft solenoid rattle at start-up. Sold car back to the dealer

I looked at several make/models before choosing the CR-V. Many people I knew had 2008-10 CV-Rs which they raved about, so I bought with assured comfort that I would love it too. Unfortunately, it was underwhelming soon after purchase. The back looked very roomy initially, and the fuel economy was a great seller feature. I soon realized that the cargo area is more tall than wide, and did not accommodate as much as I hoped. It was awkward having groceries and my stroller in the back, and the lateral space was truly lacking. The fuel economy did not live up to the MSRP stickered listing, and I hovered around 21 mpg for intown driving for the first 18 months. PROs: It is a reliable car, and as it got broken in, the fuel economy did improve. The center storage compartment was roomy and well designed, and accommodated alot of items at ready access. CONs: The interior, specifically the seat fabric and design were of a cheaper quality than I would expect from this type of car. The lumbar support only gave marginal support and the driver seat would make my back hurt after an hour driving. I got a new color for the 2014 year, Kona Iced Coffee (dark brown metallic) and it proved to be a poor quality paint; showed visible scuffs, scratches, and blemishes. Definitely was not going to wear well over the life of the car. One other glaring design flaw, the front driver window support for the windshield and side window is rather wide, and near horizontal. It creates a perfect blind spot for pedestrians, and I have nearly hit several in the crosswalk due to the shape and width. The placement of the rear vents (only in the middle of the console) for air circulation is very poor, and is often 5 degrees warmer than the front cabin, not great for my then infant or 70+ yr old mother-in-law riding in the back seat. No amount of setting adjustment provided much relief. Traded it in in 2017.

We bought this 2014 Honda CR-V ELX new from Howdy Honda and have had problems since we purchased it. The radio is useless because you cannot hear it for the road noise. Brakes are bumpy when applied with an uneven brake, release, brake motion. There is a noise that increases and decreases with speed (sounds almost like a belt in one of the tires has shifted or a bad wheel bearing). The actuators on the back hatch door are bad and will be replaced. The pneumatic tire pressure indicator is always coming on. Steering is too quick ( There is no comparison between a CR-V and an Accord with the Accord being far superior. There are other makes that offer more options for around the same cost. Rough riding vehicle. We tried to tell Howdy Honda we were having problems with this car and they would drive it and say there is nothing wrong with it. Finally at my request a service manager (AND MYSELF) took the car for a test drive (he drove it) and he admitted it had problems. Bear in mind your complaints are (concerns at Howdy Honda). I also asked him how about driving a new CR-V to compare rides (mine has had these problems since the first time I took the car in for an oil change) and the service manager quickly stated it wouldn't be a good idea as the technology has changed from 2014 to 2015 (can you believe that). Honda has become a company that makes excuses for its flaws instead of standing behind them and doing what is right. On the defective hatch actuators (support arms) a service person tried to tell me I would have to duplicate the problem (the hatch has become locked in the open position twice and I thought I was going to break it if I applied more force in trying to close it). I felt like telling this individual he was an idiot and he really made me angry at doubting my integrity. I told him what was I or my wife supposed to do----drive the fifty miles to the dealership with the hatch stuck up in the air!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This CR-V ELX may have 26,000 miles on it but the problems listed have existed since we purchased it and complained during the time of the first oil change. Lots of blind spots makes it dangerous! Transmission was slipping(they called it juddering), however Honda changed the oil out and told me they mad a computer update. They also said this incident was one of the few they had encountered. There is also the problem for an average height individual whenever the glove box door is opened as it will hit your knees. My wife doesn't trust the car and I surely would not buy another. All in all, we find it hard to consider buying another Honda. We have moved on from the Honda CRV and currently own a Subaru Outback Limited. While the CRV is overrated the Honda Accord is not and is a good car. If we had bought an Accord we would probably be still driving a Honda. Send me an evaluation form for the 2018 Subaru Outback Limited with the opposed six cylinder engine and I can give you an earful. Thanks, Ronald Lee

My first CRV was a 2005 with 120,000 miles and other than routine maintenance the only extra cost involved was a single rear caliper repair. LOVED it! Totally reliable vehicle that never let me down. Test drove a 2014 EX-L and was amazed with the comfort and handling. The interior is open and comfortable. Love shifter location, more room up front than the Rogue and Rav4. Headlights are def not as bright as my 2005 but that's a positive for me...was tired of drivers flashing their lights at me assuming I had my high beams on when I didn't. The fog lights do help to illuminate the road well when using low beams though. VERY pleased with my newest CRV :) Updated review: After 2 years my view on headlights has changed. Do not feel the range of low beams is adequate for viewing what's in front of me. Even with fog lights. 2 weeks ago it started making a grinding noise at startup when engine is cold. Researched online and found there are issues with the VTC actuator. It's scheduled for repair in a week. This fix requires taking the engine apart and that concerns me.

Tire monitoring system is a nuisance as it keeps coming on and tires are ok. Fuel efficiency is fantastic. Honda makes a very reliable car. Electronic features are so so. Have towed the CRV behind my motor home. Its light and hardly notice the weight being towed. Honda is making a mistake not offering the older version transmission in the 2015 CRV and beyond. It has a unique capability for being towed and utility when on the road camping. They would sell more cars if they offered the transmission version that can be towed.

This SUV has a lot of space inside. Very comfortable for four adults...back seat is plenty big for average adult men. And there is a lot of cargo room with the seats up. I put a 16 foot ladder inside with the seats down. Just fit. The stereo is totally lackluster, the sound quality is really not good. I wish at EX-L trim you got a better stereo. Engine has enough power when not in Eco mode, but the driving dynamics are nothing special, though a fairly comfortable ride. Tested the Mazda CX-5 and that is much better driving. The mpgs on CRV are okay, especially when in Eco mode. I've gotten 31-32 on the highway doing 70 with flat terrain and high twenties mixed driving around town. Least favorite par to of this car, considering how boring it is otherwise, is the road noise. I am looking to sell a car I bought new 2.5 years ago because I can't stand driving on the open road. And like I said, the stereo doesn't do a good job covering that up. Don't buy this car if you want a quiet ride. Unless you drive 30 mph everywhere you go.

Here in florida this ride is perfect! no issues at all. everyone that comes inside it passangers all love it! i get compliments constantly. have had since 0 miles . now has over 10k and no issues. go in on time for all my oil changes. For those bad reviewers, its probably since they live in harsh snowy areas but here in flat florida its perfect! A/C cools fast in this hot florida weather , smooth ride always, weve taken it for long trips up and down the florida coast and not one peep. highly recommend this little SUV for anyone who has dogs or kids. My dogs love the cargo space ! Recommend getting the weather techs floor liners to protect the floor rugs. plan to have my baby for years to come!

My first car purchase

I bought a certified pre-owned 2014 CRV with 70K miles, and this car drove wonderfully. It cut like butter through the snow, and never had any issues in weather. I put about 20K miles on this car during the 7 months that I owned it. Unfortunately, I got in an accident that totaled the car (airbags went off, nothing that had to do with the car), however, after being hit in the rear left side, and being spun around more than 360 degrees, my air bags instantaneously went off, and I was absolutely fine. I walked away from the accident with a scratch on my left arm. This car is so incredibly reliable, and I went right back to Honda and got another one. I loved every minute of driving this car and would highly recommend it to anyone. I drove for work, and for pleasure.

Overall, my CR-V has been reliable and pleasant to drive. I currently have a little over 102,000 miles on it, and I've had no major mechanical issues with it. It is still on its original brakes. No leaks of any kind. AC still blows cold. So far, the only money I've spent on it has gone to maintenance, which has been carried out as suggested by the Honda maintenance minder. The interior is showing some wear, but this is to be expected after 5 years with me. My only issues, are the following: 1) Compass Sensor: my compass sensor has behaved erratically for several months now and causes the direction in which I am traveling to display incorrectly and constantly blink when I drive. The fix suggested by the owners manual does not fix the problem. Sometimes, the problem goes away, and the compass works properly again. 2) Batteries don't seem to last long with this vehicle. I'm lucky if I get 18 months out of one. My electrical system always checks out fine during maintenance. 3) My CR-V has the well-documented "croak" that can be head when the vehicle is stopped and the AC is running. When I first started hearing it, it was highly annoying, but I eventually got used to it. Again, these are minor issues, and overall the vehicle has been highly-dependable. I hope to put another 100K miles on it over the next few years.

See Our CR-V

Our CRV is really nice for the small SUV class. It is smooth shifting, very reliable with no maintenance issues (yet), and gets great gas mileage for an SUV. The two things that I wish were nicer are 1) The road noise. It is not what I would call "quiet" inside while driving, and 2) It is sluggish driving anywhere in the mountains. The 4 cylinder engine really struggles going uphill. Other than those two items, I really enjoy our CRB.
