Used 2006 Honda Civic Si Consumer Reviews
2006 Si
I purchased the 2006 Honda Si after a great deal of research and many vehicle test drives. As a matter of fact, I test drove it, then called the dealer two hours later and told him I wanted it. After owning the car for a day, a rattle developed in the back. I began searching for the cause and determined that the passenger side rear seat was not latched - problem solved. When cruising, the car is very quiet, but accelerate up through the gears and the tuned exhaust sings as the engine tachs up. Cornering is a dream in this car with virtually no body roll, and the deep buckets really hold you in place.
Somewhat disappointed
I bought this car on a whim, remembering my CRX Si from years ago. I hoped it could match the fun-factor that car had. Instead, this model feels a little nose heavy, and Honda has taken the "soul" out of the Si line. It has never left me straded, but there are little things here and there that i have had to visit the dealer for. It scoots ok when you ring it out, but is cumbersome in city driving due to its lack of torque. I would be happier if they got the weight down a little and increased low end torque so i am not revving to 4k rpms just to get up to speed. overall, a decently quick mode of transportation, but there are better choices out there.
Worth the wait
The new Civic Si is a practical high performance car. It has 197 h.p. and also gets 32 m.p.g. It is priced under $20,000 and is very well equipped, including sunroof, 350 watt sound system and special Si interior features. After my 1996 Civic the new Si seems like a space ship with the digital speedometer placed like a heads-up display and the steep windshield ahead. The car is very quiet and the 2 liter V-tec engine is as smooth as butter. The drive-by-wire throttle is super responsive and the performance is excellent through all six gears. The electric power steering has a great road feel to it, and has a quick ratio for right-now response. Great job Honda!
Great Car
What a great car. Plenty of pickup - super gas mileage. I have 1700 miles and have averaged 49.5 so far. I am really happy with my choice. I have had a lot of cars including mercedes, jaguar, porsche, volvo, bmw etc. I feel really good about driving this as it is the best car for our environment. Feels great to do good!
2006 Si, review after 1,500 miles
Downside: Firm ride for those not use to sports suspension. Back seats, though roomy enough for anyone under 6'is not made for getting in and out of often. Upside: Everything else: Handling, speed, traction, stereo, size (I am 5'11, 160lbs). Seats fit perfectly, engine sounds great and is easy to rev up to get going. Mileage checked over 3 tanks hovers around 29mpg. Overall a quality little car for the money. Double Upside: iVTEC will scream when revs hit 6K+ (wait till broken in!!)
