The Bigger Honda Accord

I upgraded from a 1999 V6 Accord. The bigger body style does not fit my frame. The window starts too high for you to rest your arm, there is little room for your fingers when you adjust the rear view mirror, console too far right, seat not all that comfortable, too long of a reach to the steering wheel (my shoulders get tired when driving long distances). The sporty feel of driving the car is gone. It handles great, performs great but the inside now feels like a grandpa car. I didn't test drive it enough to notice it at first. I miss the feel of the old car. Bummer. And, they limit how loud the stereo will go! That amazed me.

Warning, don't buy a Accord 08 or 09

My wife and I purchased to honda accords (2008 - 2dr coupe used) & (2009 4dr sedan new). Since the purchase date in Feb 09, I have had nothing but problems. 1) The tire pressure light keeps coming on 2) Muffler had to be replaced due to bad components 3) Both keyless entry remotes went out 4) Driver side seat lumbar support without was replaced 5) Rear brake pads wear out fast, replaced. 6) Tires don't stay balanced and aligned. Although all of these problems was covered by the dealership it's a shame that I have to take a new car in for repair "time after time". This is what you will have to look forward to in the years to come. Oh, the 08 coupe is no better! Warning don't buy Honda!

Great car

I had planned on buying used, but the new price was too good to pass up. With the $6000 off MSRP, I have a lot of car for the money. Great looking vehicle with most of the options I was looking for. Interior is classy. Have had the car three weeks, put on 2800 miles including one 1600 trip. Read the complaints about the firm seat. I had some concerns, but after the 1600 miles had no aches or pains, and I am not young. I think it is a great seat. I have been very pleased with the MPG. 27.7 MPG at 78 MPH. 23 MPG around town. Just have to watch jack rabbit starts.

What can go wrong, will go wrong

The brakes have squeaked since day one and have been replaced three times. The dashboard warning lights come on when going through the car wash. Covered the first two times by warranty and had to paid $50 the third time. Told the pressure from the drying system is too powerful and shakes the vehicle too much. Not kidding! Engine light came on and they blamed a non-factory air filter. Came on the next day and they told me their service bulletin said clean with air pressure. Really? Now the panel holding the fuses has become corroded and needs replaced - $1,500. No accountability from Honda NA. Told by Honda CS it can't be that much of a piece of junk because I have 50K miles on it!

Rough Ride & Noisy but Reliable

I've had this car since new and love the power of the V6. The car has been mostly reliable with just a few minor issues. I disabled the VCM system to avoid motor mount issues when the car was just a couple years old. My only real complaint is the fairly stiff suspension that the EX-L V6 comes with. And, the interior is noisy - lots of road noise penetrates the cabin, especially on rough roads. Lastly, the J-series V6 still uses a timing belt and requires a valve adjustment around 100k miles. Luckily I can do those jobs myself, but they require about 4-5 hours of work each to accomplish. But, if you know about those quirks, these are great cars that can easily go 250k miles with just routine maintenance.
