perfect ill buy a second one
i bought a 95 2500 2 wheel drive 5.7 nothing but good luck with thin vehicle. i pull a 2 ton trailer every day almost i am a contractor and i put it to the test. i now have 271k on it no smoke and no rust at all. it starts every time no matter what the weather is. it still has perfect paint. i'm very happy. this thing will pull anything you hook it up to.
Best bet for hauling kids & tack
We needed this because mini vans don't go into the woods deer hunting. This is a man's truck, king of the road. Even when my wife drives it, she is Queen of the road. Stay out of the way or get smashed. It once hit a parked car & held not a mark...poor rear end of the other car was BAD. I recommend this to any one who has boats, jets ski's, hauls hunting gear, or just likes to cruise around. Very roomy & string. You won't even know that your're pulling that huge boat behind you.

Best GMC model ever.
I've owned my Suburban since '99 and it's never left me stranded even with 273k on the odometer. I'd recommend this truck to anybody looking for a comfortable and reliable daily driver.

350,000 Km and still humming
Purchased this vehicle coming off lease at 160,000km. Used to pull 24 ft 6000lb Bayliner boat for years and family to cottage and run deliveries for a business. Only problem is 3 replacements of fuel pump. Suggest use full synthetic oil for winter driving for quieter startups. Fuel milage: incredable for SUV this size, 21 MPG on highway and 18 in city. Great family and business vehicle
Problems before thier time
Transmission went out at 43,000 miles. The fluid and filter was changed at 30,000. The transmission shop said a bearing in the "reverse plantary came apart. He called it a fluke. I pulled and installed the trans myself but it cost $900.00 to rebuild - an expensive fluke. The fuel pump went out at 51,000± miles. The rear end started whinning slightly at 45,000 miles. It was incorrectely clearanced at the factory. The shim on the left side was too thin resulting in the whin and some bearing chatter marks. I reclearanced the ring gear with the original bearing and it is still running quiet at 71,000 miles. Has anybody had similar problems?
A tribute to Bertha
"Bertha" has logged nearly 300,000 miles with very little other than regular maintainance, Tires, batteries, plugs, wires etc. Has the original motor, transmission, starter. Insurance costs are lower than most. She's got a little rust on the top and the hood has recently lost its top coat of paint but for a dark blue paint it has done pretty well. The interior looks barely used even though it has hauled people/children, lumber (a full 4X8 sheet of plywood will go inside) and all kinds of other cargo. Got it at 92,000 miles after a family with kids. I call it my transformer car. It will tow, haul, rides good on trips. The A/C has been replaced twice the last 50,000 miles. Great bargain.
The First of Many
I purchased this `95 Suburban new. Since I ordered, it had everything I wanted and needed. I have been very pleased with it's performance and handling. At the 100,000 mile mark it went in for new tires and the installer just had to remark on what a nice truck it still was. We are so pleased that we are about to pick up a 2002 Yukon XL, equiped much the same except we moved up to a 3/4 ton to pull a larger trailer. I wouldn't have anything else. I do hope that we are as pleased as with our last purchase. A terrific truck!
Family Truck/ Cost in Gas
Bought in 2008, This truck is a great truck , does everything including great cargo space. plenty of room for a growing family like mine. I have right now over 207k on the original engine and cranks everyday, had to replace brakes more than twice, but thats it. I have put about 50k on the engine. It has very poor gasoline, as you can imagine. takes 100.00 a week to keep going. That will break you over time. I am going to park it or sell it now because of that. And it needs some repair.
Happy with used GMC Suburban purchase
Purchased this used with 52,000 , and it has been very faithful for us. I pull a 30' Travel Trailer with no problems. It will hit 100,000 this month.
Good Experience
We bought it new. I love the space when we travel. We took the truck across the county once, into Canada twice, loaded with five people and lots of luggage. It's no longer than the station wage we had before, so I don't understand why people complain about the size - it's easy to handle.
Great for Many Uses
I bought this vehicle with 64K and have now got 163K and going strong. This vehicle had a customization package which enhanced the interior with middle buckets and entertainment features - great for the kids on long trips. Whether hitting the highway, hauling the team to games, or loading building materials for the latest project this GMC has been awesome. Leather has held up great. Has gotten 13-16 mpg highway, 9-11 city. Am now looking for a little less size and better fuel economy, but this has been a great ride for many uses.
Good Overall
I have 142,000 miles on my Suburban now. Other than the brakes needing regular maintenance, this vehicle has been quite good. The plastics on the interior are now starting to break, this is likely due to the hot summers here in Sacramento.
Super SUV
I only recently purchased this K1500 Suburban SLT from the original owner, so my experience is "short term". It has over 285K miles on it (yes 285,000) and still runs and drives perfectly. Most of the miles were freeway miles- which helps. I was told that the engine is original, but the tranny was replaced 100K miles ago. I have only had to install a coolant sensor- which was only $70.00 to repair at the shop. I have not driven it enough to see exactly what the mileage is, but I am sure it is not that great. I will probably never need all of the space, or need the 4WD, but nice to know it is there if I ever need it. I also really like the styling of these trucks.
172,000mi on my suburban
iv hauled my lawn mowing trailer and use it to drive to louisiana i still get 17mpg interior is like new iv been egged and paintballed this is the prettyiest white ever it blinds u it so bright good buy
Not too impressed
Bought the car with 115,000 miles on it. Alternator replaced, brakes replaced, Pitman arm replaced, idle arm replaced($550), AC compressor worn out ($950), T.P.S replaced, many lights out, Asside from poor quality, we love the ride and feel of the car. Others we have had have gone well into the 100,000's mile mark before needing so much maintenance.
GMC Suburban
I love our 95 Suburban. We get about 16 mpg on highway, 14 normal driving. This isn't bad to me considering my minivan got 19-20 mpg with far less room and no towing capacity.
The burban I got on E-bay
Been a Volvo, SAAB, Audi family for years. Kids are in their teens and want to bring buddies on camping trips and short vacations. 4 seat luxo Euro cars can't handle those kids, CD players, Bikes, snowboards, and backpacks. Never owned a GM product in my life, landed a great E-bay deal on a "truck" 2000 miles away. 1996 GMC Burban w/70K on the odometer. After running that bad boy cross country from the mid west, the Dakotas, WY, MT and onto the coast, I found out I'm the one who has been missing something...A comfy Luxo Barge at 70 mph all day, sips "regular" gas at 18.2 MPG over hill and over dale ( only 2 pax).
best trucks I have ever owned
i own the suburban and the extra cab long bed version of this truck and couldn't be happier. only quirk is change the fuel pump every 70k and radiator at 200k otherwise flawless and economical. I baby my trucks as a rule and get 25 m,pg out of my truck and 23-24 out of the suburban. there are plabty of smaller truck I could load in the back of mine and drive around and i would get better mileage moving them that way than just driving them. oh truck has 300k and suburban has 200 both are still strong and could drive across country with out worry
Monster machine 400+ hp w/suspercharger
Excellent people and stuff hauler.

Still going strong
I bought my '96 Suburban from my brother who bought it new. Except for new transmission at 140K, a new head gasket, and typical old vehicle problems, this truck has been very good. 4WD is great in the snow.
Driving it for 16 years
I've hauled horse trailers all over the state. Drove for work over 3 states. I now have over 295000 miles answer still going. Did have to get the transmission rebuild at about 200000. The seats in this truck are the most comfortable I have ever had in a vehicle. I hope my next Suburban has seats this comfortable.

Hauls and tows anything I've needed it to so far. Had a 92 K2500 before this one, and the gas consumption was horrific. This one is like an economy car compared to that one. The only issue I've had is with the PLASTIC distributor they put in the Vortec engines, they warp and chew up distributor caps. Replaced it with a billet aluminum one and smooth sailing ever since. Just passed 300,000 km.
