Used 2002 Ford Explorer Consumer Reviews
"Worth the Wait"
This is my 3rd Explorer and "what a difference"!! My previous two were trouble free; however, this 2002 is a "GEM" to drive. Recently had to drive in a torrential rainstorm & this Explorer handled extremely well. Looking forward to taking some trips in this newly redesigned Explorer, as I know I'm going to throughly enjo them
Bye Bye, Pathfinder...
Traded in our 03 Pathfinder for a 02 Explorer Limited. My wife says the Pathfinder seemed like a toy compared to the Explorer. We feel much more secure in the Explorer. Fairly smooth, solid ride, comfortable seats, awesome traction control, and tons more room than the Pathfinder. 3rd row seat is roomier than I expected. Interior plastics and trim seem a bit cheap, but everything is laid out well. Good vehicle for a small (but growing) family.

Love it!
I love this SUV. Had a '97 Explorer and got an '03 Pathfinder. Pathy didn't serve us well as a family car with a kid and a big dog always with us. There was no room for our stuff. The '02 Limited is roomy with a big back seat and the third row seat couldn't be easier to put up and down. It comes with a lot of standard features that are a big bonus. I love the ride and the way it holds the road, it doesn't feel top heavy in the turns. We feel very safe in this car.Gas mileage isn't bad for a car this size and a V8. Will drive this car as long as it has life in it.
Worst Car I ever owned
Bought the 2002 Fod Explorer brand new from the dealer. Only 55,000 miles on in. The past year we had to replace the transmission (3k) and all wheel bearings at 400 each. Going broke. Will never buy a Ford again. This is by far the worst car I have ever owned.
2002 Explorer XLT
This is my first SUV after driving 3 minivans. What a aonderful change. The third row seating option allows me the oppurtunity to still take along "friends" without having to take the van. The auto 4WD gives me added security in treacherous conditions. The leather seating and premium sound system leave me feeling like I purchased a more expensive vehicle. I look forward to driving my '02 XLT each day.
