Good value for the price

The car has performed well with very little service issues other than the computer going out at 135K ($1,400). Other than tires, one brake change, and oil, I have put no money into this car considering I have almost 150,000 miles on it. I would feel quite confident driving it to Alaska today if I needed to.

Purchased this vehicle with 11,000 miles on it through the Blue Oval Certified program with Ford. Have had it two weeks and we love it. Came from a 1998 GMC Jimmy that we owned for six months and were very dissapointed with. Quality is much better and certified actually gives a better warranty. Balance of bumper to bumper 36,000 and 6 yr or 75,000 mile powertrain warranty. I upgraded to a bumper to bumper for 1,000 bucks. Purchase price was 22,000 for basically a new vehicle. Rides awesome for a sport ute. Great vehicle for those of us in the snow belt. XLS model is very nicely equipped. All you really need!

Fix Or Repair Daily has been the rep. for FORD in my mind. Reliability is yet to be judged since I've only driven this car 600 miles. Apart from that, great car and no problems so far. Like the spartan functionality of the XLS better than the other trims. All the necessary options for cheap compared to other midsize SUV's. Quiet at hwy speeds, good acceleration, good maneuverability especially in tight parking spaces. Like the high ride height. Aggressive styling is a plus. After driving Japanese cars all my life, this car is restoring my faith in American automobiles and is turning me into a Ford fan.

This vehicle is much nicer than my previous 98' XLT. It's roomier, quieter (though still loud), and the 3rd row seating is great when travelling with a crowd. I have the 6-cylinder engine and the acceleration is fine for how I drive the car. The gas mileage has been less than what I expected (around 15mpg, 18 if I'm driving on the highway). Overall, it is a definite upgrade from the previous version but is still somewhat loud and drives, for lack of a better term, more like a truck compared to other (higher-priced) vehicles in its class that I test drove. If you need space, and want a mini-SUV, then you should definitely test drive this vehicle.

Tranmission problems at 84K, rack & pinion, radiator, rear axle, power window, rear wheel bearings, the list goes on and now again the tranmission is slipping. We need a new transmission at 145K. Love the look, love the drive, but it's a money pit. This is my third Ford and never again. This will be a fourth transmission. I guess one never learns, but this time that's it. Four strikes and you're out.
