Overview
The Toyota Crown is a feature-rich hybrid sedan with funky styling. It's ever so slightly bigger than the well-known Camry, but the Crown is taller and sits a little higher off the ground, giving it a distinctive look. It's only available as a hybrid and returns an EPA-estimated 41 mpg in combined driving. If you're looking for more power, the Platinum trim Crown uses the Hybrid Max system, which boosts horsepower to 340 hp but drops fuel economy to 30 mpg.
Edmunds spotlight: Loads of standard features
The Crown is not a cheap vehicle, with a starting price over $40,000. But it comes with an abundance of standard features, like heated and cooled seats, adaptive cruise control, dual-zone climate control, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and power-adjustable front seats. The Crown can get pricey in its highest trims, but the base XLE trim offers a lot to like.
Competitors to consider
The Crown's biggest competitor comes from within the company. The all-hybrid Toyota Camry is less expensive and offers better fuel economy, though it's not as roomy or as upscale as the Crown. The Honda Accord with the available hybrid powertrain is another worthy competitor and is a little more powerful than the Camry without sacrificing fuel economy.
