Very disappointed

2012 Ford Edge SEL 4dr SUV (3.5L 6cyl 6A)
I have owned the vehicle for nearly 2 years and continue to be disappointed.
The battery died after 1 year, brake booster went out, Vista roof rubber rails fell off driving down the freeway, then the motor wouldn't close it. Air conditioning went out May 2013 and now again this May 2014, has been recalled for the fuel line. I've had a mysterious grinding noise starting the car and it … won't start then you can start it, they don't know what's wrong. The SYNC doesn't work correctly and does strange things, I spend hours at the dealer and most times they can't or won't give me a rental.
I am at the point of never wanting to own another Ford and want to trade this in for something reliable.

2012 Ford Edge SEL 4dr SUV (3.5L 6cyl 6A)
I drive a 2012 Edge SEL as my work vehicle approx. 5000-6000 miles per month--currently has 148,000 total.
Proven an excellent car.
Had GMC Acadia prior to this, and though unfortunately not as large cargo capacity, the Edge has been far superior to that SUV.
MPG has averaged 24.5 for entire life.
No mechanical issues at all except headlamp bulb and turn signal switch.
Very comfortable … driving position and seating at long distance--and I should know.
Only real issue has been SYNC system as relates to Bluetooth to Iphone.
This performance has improved with Ford updates, but still sometimes phone to system link is faulty.
Overall an excellent car--replacing with another Edge this year
The Edge needs an Edge

I did my research. Everything about this vehicle met my needs; however, many, and I do mean many, little annoyances have not made this my best vehicle choice. I really want to believe I purchased a lemon in the group. Let’s start with a bad fuel pump at 60k miles. A bad brake sensor, and not a bad wiper switch...all before 100 k. Let’s also talk about a Symc system you have to go through … several hidden steps to hook up your phone. Or where certain buttons are located that you accidentally hit while trying to use the counsel. Could you please not put buttons on the side of the gear shift? What engineering genius thought of this? Do I hate my vehicle? No. It has performed fairly well. Would I buy another? Not sure. I do know that with my bad back it is one of the easiest vehicles for me to maneuver in, and has plenty of storage. But the many bugs and issues I have had are a huge problem in that I feel like I am constantly complaining about stupid things going wrong with an SUV that is still fairly young in age.
Worst car Ive ever owned

This car is beautiful. Inside & out. I get compliments often. I have the 20 inch chrome wheels & all the bells & whistles. But this car has needed more repairs than any car I’ve ever owned. The worst part is I’ve taken better care of this car than any car I’ve ever owned. I have done all routine maintenance on time. I’m not hard on it during drive time. Still, countless issues. At 60,000 … miles & only 4 years old, the touch screen went out completely. That was a $800+ fix. And that didn’t even fix the rear view camera. That’ll be an additional $500 if I want it fixed. I’ve done a $500 hose repair, new rotors, and replaced the TURBO AND CATALYTIC CONVERTER, which was a $3300 repair. Not to mention various other smaller repairs that I can’t think of at the moment. Currently, the transmission is shifting hard and is probably on its last leg. And yes I had the fluid changed at the recommended mileage. Car currently has 99k on it. I can’t believe under 100k and I’ve replaced so many things including major drivetrain stuff. The warranty offered by ford is a joke. I believe it’s 3 or 5 years, 60k . I was so excited about this car when I purchased it. It was a 1 owner, zero accidents, only 40k and everything I was looking for. It seemed like a great value, all the options for the price. But the maintenance and repair bills have been unreal. I truly hate this car and will never purchase this brand again.
