I haul a 15K lb travel trailer and this truck has never let me down. I usually get 19-22 MPG on hwy, unloaded, and get 13-14 when towing, as long as I keep it under 70mph. If I go over 70, it drops to 10-11 and according to specs, 15K lbs is overloaded for 3/4 ton Dodge w/cummins. You must have nerf bars as the truck sits kinda high and is difficult to get into w/o side bars.

05 Cummins Laramie. 30K Miles and 10K worth of repair bills. Nice looking truck and it holds the pavement down in front of my house nicely. Lots of power, decent mileage for what it is, fairly comfy on long hauls. Injectors are delicate which can lead to major engine damage. Poor factory fuel and air filtration. Weak trans. Lots of creaks(sliding glass) and rattles(rear storage) and wind noise(drivers door). Radio dash knob doesn't work. Abysmal customer service. If you are considering a used one get a Manometer test done first.

After being a dedicated Ford truck owner for my last 6 trucks, I decided to give the Dodge Ram with Cummins diesel a try. I regret not doing it sooner. I have read reviews and heard stories about how these trucks were supposed to fall apart but mine has been literally flawless. My test drives were with the 2005 GM Duramax trucks and the 2005 Ford Powerstroke. Hooked up to my 30ft travel trailer the other two just didn't compare. The truck really shined with a load behind it. I have owned it for 50000 miles now and have 1 TSB for a reflash and oil changes. The highway mileage is amazing. Very tough, very simple truck that I will never sell or trade. I am keeping this one forever!

I am the owner of a 2004 Dodge ram 2500 Heavy Duty w/ the Hemi 5.7 liter. The vehicle is very fast. The stearing is a bit touchy, very responsive. The design of the interior is fairly well laid out. My only dislikes is the pop out cup holder which bounces over bumps and has caused a couple coffe spills. Also, the radio controls are awkward in scanning through stations, no place to rest fingers on for support. I have a plow on truck and had to plow once so far, and truck seems like it handles it well. Overall, i am fairly happy with it. Mileage is about 12-13 city, 14-16 on the highway.

"DODGE"... that's what the dealer does when you show up for warranty repair. A/C and Transmission still leaking after 4 visits to three different dealers... now out of warranty. Let me list the problems. 1. Power seat gear stripped (500.00) 2. AC leaks (900.00) 3. Trany leaks ($$$???) 4. Pulls to the right... 3 alignments ($300+?) no one knows why. 5. rear axle seal... self repaired (55) Theres more I cant remember rite now. I'm rite at 50k, all of this started 40k ago... Never again!!!!!!!! Update... i now have about 65k on the truck, barely drive it, the front drive shaft now leaks, I replaced every part of the HVAC system under the hood myself and the leak is gone (Dealers couldn't/wouldn't fix it). Dash light do a weird flicker, I hear the board that runs the lights, blinker...ect... gets corroded. Cumins is still strong but the dodge around it it crap from bumper to bumper.

cummins power is great. ford and chevy diesels are 8 cyl. and the cummins are 6 cyl and still smokes them in hp and torque. the cummins have 30% less moving parts in the motor wich makes them more reliable. and the 6 cyl is way better in mpg's. But what can i say this truck is awesome.

Had planned to buy a Silverado, but my son convinced me to try a RAM. Glad I did! The Hemi has lots of extra power, and on a recent 1,000 mile trip I averaged 17.5 mpg. With the exception of parking, it's easy and fun to drive. You can't beat the exhaust sound of this engine. Step bars are a must, as the truck is really high.

Great truck, awesome power with the Cummins. Pretty much the best part of the whole truck. Has been in the shop way too much for too many things to list. But now that I'm comming up to 100k the thing is really starting to pay for itself. It gets less expensive to own every year. Hauls excellent. mpg are good.

Vehicle is outstanding, should have bought a diesel engine before this truck , mileage is what I had hoped for. Actual mileage around town is on average 18 mpg or better, on the highway at posted speeds it has achieved 24 mpg - When I first pulled the 7500 lb trailer the average mpg was about 14, however the engine is broken in now , so I expect it may improve. Have only been back to the dealer once for warranty, the transmission computor lost its mind and would not shift correctly---Wish I could have found a stick shift--would recommend this. Great truck

I considered the Chevy Duramax, until I drove the Dodge 600 Cummins. I now have over 20k miles, aftermarket shocks, air-lift, and performance module by Predator. This truck actually gets over 20mpg in the city, and 24-25 on the highway. The power to haul my RV is is remarkable. The aftermarket gas shocks help the rough ride, and to date, have not had one problem.

Awas always a Chevy man, but I had to stray. When I went shopping for a new truck, I wasn't going to buy a Dodge, but I decided beforehand that I would drive, price, and compare all the heavy duty trucks. Chevy was good. Ford was so uncomfortable and look so much like the old Fords, I did not even drive it. I went to Dodge and wasn't expecting to be impressed, it had comfort. So I drove a Dodge with a Hemi. I was blown away by the horsepower and the extra features the other others did not have. I got more truck for the buck. Worked a great deal thanks to Edmunds. If this truck gives me great service I will probably buy another in a few years.

Wow, what can I say. What a horrible experience. The Dodge Hemi powered attempt at a true crew cab falls short of my expectations. I had it 8 days and the dealer only wants to give me $6000 LESS than I paid for it! What a great value huh? The interior is the smallest of any of the competitors. It has an extremely noisy interior with multiple fit and finish problems. Overall I'd have to say to Dodge, you have some serious issues with your QC. Ford and Chevy dealers take note. You could sell twice as many trucks if you'd have a Dodge on your lot and let consumers do a side by side comparison. Make sure you do your research and so you won't make the same decision I did.

Wasn't too long ago that the name Chrysler/Dodge meant buyer beware particularily with quality control issues. My how times have changed. Mercedes has certainly left its mark on these new Damilar Chrysler vehicles. The Dodge Ram 2500 Laramie with the Cummins Turbo has the build quality that Americans are not used to seeing. Body panels meet, corners are squared, lines are straight. No rattles anywhere, anytime! I traded a 2003 Ram 2500 Hemi on this Cummins powered truck, and I am more impressed with it now than the day I drove it home. Before these 2 Damilier Chrysler products, I had a 2002 Lincoln Continental, which I really enjoyed. The Dodge trucks quality is on par with the Lincoln!

I have about 40,000 miles on the truck at this point and the dealership knows me well. The electronic shift module failed at about 32,000. Dealer tells me to expect it again in another 30,000 or so. The electric door locks stopped working at 38,000. After getting stuck, I was informed that the four wheel drive system in this year model is really only a three wheel drive. Yep, no power will ever be provided to the left front wheel and that is the way it is designed. The door wind seals wear out about every 12 months. Poor design rubs on the doors when opened causing excessive wear. Love the diesel power and fuel economy! I get about 21mpg on the open road and still get the power when I haul.

Just traded in an 03 Avalanche 1500 for the 5.9 SLT 'Bighorn'. Compared the Silverado Duramax, and the Dodge is a steal! The Chevy rides softer, but the Dodge with the 'New 5.9 and tranny' out perform the Chevy (and thousands cheaper). I will tow a 10,000lb tow hauler in the spring, and will followup with a report on towing.

Well- I got this truck last year because of the increasing gas prices, well now diesel is more expensive than gas. Besides that, I'm getting 14mpg avg. between hwy & city. I was getting better mileage with my 2001 chevy z71. I like the truck, but hate the fuel efficiency.

I was looking at the Ford 250 lariat diesel, but the big horn felt better. This is my first diesel and I am wondering what took so long.

I bought this truck brand new. It really grows on you. The ride is very smooth on the highway and handles much better than most would think. I am a fishing guide and tow a 5200lb boat over two hundred days a year. The Hemi does fantastic. I am also 6'2 and have so much room in it. The only down side I have seen so far is if you are like me the rear seat passengers may be a little cramped if they are large adults. I have towed the boat now for almost 2500k so far so good. I will update this at 15k. I would suggest that if you plan on towing anything heavier than 8000lbs go with the diesel.

Traded in a 03f-350cc after test driving the dodge, what a difference. This truck rides and handles so much better. The power of the cummins is unreal. The only complaint is with the ford you get a lot of extras you dont with the dodge. No locking tail gate,no back-up sensor,no running boards...These are not expensive items but handy once you get used to having them. Get with it dodge!!

Overall, the fit, finish, and ride for the 2005 RAM 2500 with the HEMI is quite good. While the chassis is fairly stiff, the ride is reasonable. If you're expecting anything in terms of gas mileage, this isn't your truck. The HEMI works pretty hard at propelling the 6,000 lb truck down the road. If you're looking for a RAM 2500, spend the bucks and get the Cummins. The M5 tranny is for tow-mules only! Mileage is 11-12 in mixed hwy/cty driving mainly because 5th gear is way too high. 1st gear is a granny gear, effectively making this a 4 speed. Overall, it's a pretty decent truck but the Cummins drivetrain is a must. I'll probably sell my HEMI truck in a year.

I was a die hard Ford man. Drove several Powerstrokes. I then drove the Dodge. Handling is better, doesn't feel cheap or poorly built inside. No squeaks, rattles, or anything. The Cummins is just as quiet, if not more so, on the highway and wow, is it fast. Also a lot cheaper than a new Ford. Nearly $6000, that is like a free diesel engine. If you are serious about a truck like this, drive them all! I drove the Chevy at a car show after I bought the Dodge. The Duramax doesn't compare.

I had owned two Fords and had excellent service over 19 years from both of them, so it was going to take a lot to get me into something else when the time came to replace my last truck. I looked at the big three, and after tons of comparison, shopping, reading, test drives, and talking to current owners, I settled on the big Ram 2500. It has performed flawlessly in everything I have asked it to do, from taking a trip to the coast in comfort (about 700 miles round trip on a one fillup), to carrying everything in one trip to bulid a large expansion on our deck.

I have truly enjoyed my Dodge heavy duty pickup. I drive it to work every day and get reasonable fuel economy (diesel) for such a large vehicle, even though my foot is a little heavy. On weekends and after hours, I put it to good use on the farm. It is all tricked out with the Laramie package and GPS navigation system, so it makes a rather fancy work truck for the farm, but I intend to keep it and use it on the farm until it dies. As reliable as it has been, it may outlast me! The long bed is well worth the extra couple of hundred dollars, though driving it in a parking deck is much like tackling a slalom course in a school bus.

I use this truck mostly for hunting and pulling my 5th wheel camping trailer which weighs 8200 lbs and this truck is rated to pull 11,000 lbs. I barely notice its behind me due to the Hemi engine and 456 gears. It is the most capable factory produced pickup out there making all other 4x4's obsolete. Well worth the investment. This truck is not a beefed up heavy duty but one that's in its own class.

I have been driving Dodge/Chrysler products for fifteen years. My 2005 Dodge pick-up is the worst Dodge/Crysler product I have ever owned. It is pretty sad when you can get stuck in your front yard and have people in two wheel drive vehilces drive by you. I am a local business owner in town and I require the use of 4 wheel drive trucks. Based on my experience I will never own another Dodge truck and will tell people this when they ask me how I like my truck.

After putting 40K miles on this Ram truck I am very satisfied.I didn't have any mechanical problems yet.I only use synthetic motor oil,and follow the corporate maintenance program religiously. The only thing I did to the truck is put on a dual exaust and a permanent high flow air filter. I purchased my Ram with heavyduty everything. It is perfect and comfortable for long trips.Five people sit very confortable in my 4dr.truck. I love the ample power the Hemi motor has for hauling and towing large boats and trailers.

The rear seating being uncomfortable is the biggest complaint we've had from everyone that has sat in the back of our truck. The front middle storage compartment/ seat can't be adjusted to move forward so the person in the back has to have short legs or bear having the seat back on his knees.
