THE best car I've ever driven

Coming out of a 2010 Audi S4 I really didn't know how I'd like downsizing my engine, but fuel economy is important to me so an S3 it was. I truly believe this car was made for me. It's luxurious, it's FAST, and it corners way better than my S4 ever did. The factory sound system (B&O) is second to none and the technology is very up-to-date. My days are actually a little brighter since this little car has entered my life. Audi has created a true masterpiece.

Well I must say that I was so impressed with the entry level 2015 Audi A3 2.0T that I also purchased a 2016 S3 and happy to have both in my driveway. The S3 is super tame and A3 like when you want it to be comfy while sitting in stop and go Portland traffic but with just the push of a button or two it goes into beast mode and leave's a near permanent grin on your face. The 292 horsepower and 280 lb's of torque literally launches (has launch mode) you down the road and hopefully there's no fuzz near bye with his radar gun. The S3 is pretty much set up for the track in factory form with two auxiliary radiators for the coolant and the Transmission oil cooler, huge 340 mm vented rotors and the year vented brake rotors are also larger than the A3's rear. The adjustable magnetic ride suspension keeps it on the ground like its on and rails in dynamic mode or switch to comfort for A3 like dampening for city driving. The 2.0T EA888 engine family is darn near bullet proof and built for longevity. Only significant issue are the factory water pump/thermostate housing's that like to crack and leak. Most thermostat housing fail within warranty coverage but won't break the bank if you have to pay for the repair out of pocket, just find a good local independent Audi/VW shop and you will generally get way better pricing compared to the dealer and I know that from experience. Fuel economy is as advertised by Audi or a little better. I look forward to putting lots of miles on my S3 and once its paid off, will either purchase a Q7 or Q8. Go Audi!!

I tried this while looking at the A3 and A4. While I am more partial to a smaller sedan and would have been happy with the A3, the S3 was worth the extra cost for me for the added acceleration and sport performance. Driving the S3 versus A3 the driving experience itself is definitely different the extra horsepower is a definite rush while driving the S3. If you are a fan of a little "vroom vroom" while driving you will love this car. Update 11-2017 Still loving this car took it in for its 25,000 mile service and still going strong.

After 18 months of S3 ownership...

I waited for the motor to be fully broken in before I measured its performance, but after 18 months of ownership I can honestly say this S3 looks very “nice” but doesn’t have the acceleration (or reliability) I was hoping for. As well, the magnetic ride is a farce, I get a “banging” noise on the rear passenger sides strut, which bother my passengers as well as me. The dealership says “they don’t hear anything, and this noise is normal” but other forum posters say it’s not normal, as they are in the same predicament... Looks like I should have accepted the legal route after all. I think I’m going have to look at a Lexus for my next purchase. Well, had the car for four years now, after Audi fixed the rear shocks the noise subsided. Happy to say there have been no further problems. Mileage is about 27Mpg at 75MPH. It would be greater if it had an extra gear (which the 2018s and above have), but I didn’t buy it for mileage. Still a fast and fun car and I can get another 75hp out of the motor with minimum modifications.

After looking at various websites including Edmumds.com and using their buying service. I received a great deal on a 2016 Audi S3. The car is very well optioned and is a lot of fun to drive. It is very quick, brakes superbly and very fun to drive. The car has a fantastic audio system, Bang and Olephson. I would highly recommend this vehicle.
