Q5 is Like an Apple Product

I have a 2.0 Silver/Black with Moon Roof, Convenience package, Heated Seats and Exhaust Tips. In my area it was very difficult to find the 2.0 so I had to go 70 miles away to get one. I have no regrets. My Q5 feels like an Apple product and every time I am in it, it makes me feel good. It is fun to drive and the interior and exterior are top notch. I have owned 2 BMW sedans previously and also looked at the X3 very hard. I am a type that sticks to what has worked in the past and the 2 BMW's I had were just fine. I had some reservations about Audi's past quality issues. The bottom line for me was the Q5 was superior in everyway like an Apple product.

The ride is super smooth with the advantage of super tight ride-ability on the road. Great on gas consumption, V6 3.2L engine is the only way to go as the V4 2.0L engine still has issues with oil leaks. If you are looking for a mid size luxury SUV, this is definitely a contender. Best option to buy certified-used, Off-Lease option is great as this verifies it was maintained at the Audi dealership.

2009-2012 Audi/VW 2.0T Beware

I bought a used 2012 Audi Q5 3 years ago. It is now 7 years old and has 80K miles. I just replaced the engine and turbo for $14K due to a faulty timing chain tensioner. This is a known defect and there was a class action suit as noted in another review. Audi/VW refuses to do a damn thing for loyal customers and even those few admitted into the class had to provide full service records and have their repairs prorated by mileage. 80K doesn’t seem like a lot of mileage for a $45K car to need a new engine. My guess is that they lost too much on emission gate and the airbag recall, but it is a shame. My last 5 cars were VW/Audi’s. My parents, sister and brother-in-law are also loyalists, but never again for me.

Good but room for improvement...

This is a very nice car/cross over. Fun ride but you can feel all road blemishes. It handles extremely well. Very responsive steering. It has surprising acceleration. Excellent headlights. Not a wimpy looking cross over so as a guy, you won't be embarrassed. The Multi Media System... well lets just say they blew it (see below). My wife can't figure it out so she sticks with FM stations.

2012 AUDI Q5 - IT'S A LEMON!

I bought this car new in 2012. Four years later the engine died, and the dealership wanted to charge me $6,100 to essentially replace the entire top half of the engine, due to a timing chain defect, and they refused to pay anything toward it. Absolutely unacceptable for a car that's basically new, with only approximately 75,000 miles on it. I made sure that I took it for an oil change every 3,000 miles and regularly scheduled service. If you are planning on purchasing an Audi Q5, DON'T DO IT! Do your online research (timing chain/transmission/etc.) and you'll see how poorly made these vehicles are.

Good at First, but....

Good at first, but....We bought this car 2 years ago, with 82K miles, but now at 105 K the Drivers side Door lock mechanism needs replaced, the Rear Hatchback motor needs replaced, the Front struts are blown and the Motor mounts need replacing..approx. $ 4000 in Repairs on a supposedly "Premium German car manufacturer". I keep my cars along time , but usually don't replace these types of Items til over 200K. My last Audi, going back to Lexus.

Beautiful Car, horrible brand

I loved this car until the engine exploded at 72,000 miles. Since then, the high pressure fuel pump and turbo has failed, along with lots of other issues. Audi refused assistance despite this engine type being covered if it was in a TT or a different engine type being covered in my Q5. Google Audi Q5 class actions- there are multiple. They know the tensioner was defective, but won’t even reimburse a dollar toward the $10k of repairs I have spend. I truly relied on this car being rated as reliable, but the brand no longer stands behind their cars or cares about their customers after being purchased by VW. Every time I get in this car, I wonder what will fall apart next and feel absolutely sick by how I was treated by Audi.

This is great luxury performance car until it starts consuming oil and the engine needs to be rebuilt. At 5 years / 105,0000 miles - it cost $5,000 to rebuild the engine. I have owned

Great vehicle. 0 issues since we bought the Q5. Purchased used from dealership with 12000 miles. Audi service has been outstanding. Came prepaid with scheduled maintainence plan from previous owners... Thank You! Wife primary driver and commutes many miles for work. 2 young children are the occupants for the rear seats. Forward and rear facing child seats fit no problem. Only complaint is MMI. And why is there not a separate (lone) button to control fan speed for HVAC?!
