Great midsize car

So far, a great ownership experience. Quiet ride. Gas mileage is improving, I am up to 21mpg in city driving 4-cylinder. Kia's road hazard tire policy already saved me over $246 when I picked up a sidewall nail. ESC package is very handy to have on rainy mountain roads and CA freeways. Sunroof wind noise is very low up to about 50mph. I feel confident while driving this car. Front styling shows character. Rear styling is "nondescript" midsize. You can park this car anywhere. Most people are very surprised once they get inside.

Transmission and engine problems abound in some of these reviews. My wife drives the car most of the time and has had a transmission flush done because she though the transmission was "funny". No more tranny complaints. I drive 80+ miles to work each way and got 35+ MPG maintaining 55 to 62 MPH. No problems other than a rattle in the overhead reading lamps which the dealer took care of promptly. Car now has 42000 miles and runs even better. First 5000 miles or so the car seemed to struggle in cruise control as the engine raced to maintain speed. However, car no longer misses a beat except for the steepest inclines.

4 cylinder EX with leather, handling package and sunroof. In other words, loaded. Only complaints I have are a bit of a stiff ride and issues with passenger side airbags. I think this car is much underrated by many reviewers and I would like to know why. Great warranty and nice styling.

Pretty nice, but flawed

I probably would have rated this car much higher if the passenger seat air bags worked properly. My only complaints besides that are the following. 1. No MPG on trip computer 2. Very hard ride. Pretty hard to seriously rate reliability after only one month, but I will be making my third trip to the dealer next week. Judge accordingly.

I bought my 2007 Kia used in 2011 with 106,000 miles on the odometer. I have 180,000 miles on the car now. the only time this car was in a shop for repairs was a recall for faulty spring in air bag release. Kia did the work at no cost to me. This car has been the most reliable car i have ever owned. Zero repairs in 8 years and 180,000 miles later stills runs great. The 2.4 motor with a timing chain has been a very smooth running motor with excellent power. The cabin has everything I need to be comfortable on long drives. My 2007 Kia Optima turned out to be the most reliable car I have owned. I am 66 years old and have bought many cars and trucks for myself and family. This car has never let me down.
