Used 2005 Volvo XC90 Consumer Reviews
XC90
After driving a Volvo 940 for about 11 years, I moved to an XC90 last fall. I am impressed by the handling and the safety features are typically great Volvo items. Wet weather mode and rain sensor have come in handy this winter.
Best Car Ever
Great pick up when you need it. Stops on a dime. Very ergonomic, everything is within easy reach on the dash. Safe, and a beautiful design.

Overengineered, Overpriced, Unreliable
After 2 years of owning an XC90, we decided to sell it -- while we still could. On average, our car was in the shop for service every 3 months. Small, annoying things were always going wrong and they were generally related to the electrical system/computer malfunctioning. Additionally, in two years, the car had over 16 recall items -- many safety related. Also, for a mid-size SUV, the gas mileage was terrible. Anyone for whom reliability is a priority should steer clear and drive directly to the nearest Acura dealership.
2 Years W/ My XC90 2.5T AWD
I am just completing my 2nd year of ownership with my XC90. As others have mentioned it has spent some time in the shop and seems to be recalled every 6 months or so. The XC90 is a very safe SUV and has a vault like feel to it very similar to Mercedes Benz. My biggest issues are all the little things that go wrong with it. I am now replacing the chrome window trim on the drivers side for the 3rd time. The design of this is so poor, its held to the window frame only with double stick tape. There is also a removable armrest/storage compartment that is starting to fall apart and Volvo is refusing to replace or repair it. A great service department is key to owning this vehicle.
My favorite car ever!
I love the style, comfort, ride and safety of this vehicle. It hugs the road on a turn, is responsive, and has great pickup entering the freeway or passing.
