Exactly what we were looking for!

2025 Volvo EX30 Twin Motor Performance Ultra 4dr Hatchback AWD (electric DD)
We've had the car for a few weeks now and continue to be happy and impressed with it. We chose the EX30 to be a commuter car, and it excels in this role. It's stylish, comfortable, and fun to drive. The acceleration is exceptional! The interior is thoughtfully designed, with a nod to recycled materials. This is our first EV, so it takes a bit to get used to everything being manipulated … through a touchscreen. There are literally no buttons or knobs on the dash. There is also no screen or any gauges directly in front of the driver's sightline. This requires just a few seconds of pre-trip planning to ensure you have the screen and environmental setup you desire before taking off on your trip, but it's truly not particularly inconvenient. Most controls can be manipulated via voice activation, too. The front seats are comfortable. It is a tight fit in the back seats for adults, but, as I mentioned, most of our driving is commuting. For a short trip with friends, the back seats are absolutely do-able, but we'd probably default to our other car for a longer trip with family or friends. Finally, charging is convenient as the EX30 is compatible with the Tesla charging network if you get the adapter plug. This significantly expands your charging options. Finally, I found it refreshing there are only two models and limited option packages. Both models are well-provisioned, so you don't have to go through an extensive list of extras....and extra costs. Overall, we love the EX30 and have enjoyed driving it.
The least safe car I have ever had

2026 Volvo EX30 Twin Motor Performance Plus 4dr Hatchback AWD (electric DD)
Our car often will not register the key card or fob for over a minute. As a woman this is incredibly unsafe. Also, it beeps when it thinks you're not facing forward, which is constantly if you drive overhand or with sunglasses. The beep is the same as other system warnings so when you look to scan the console for errors, you then have to read a size 14 font that says "eyes on the road". … Laughable. Changing mirrors and lights is a multi button process only accessible through the central tablet with very little tactic feedback so it's impossible to do and drive safely. Which is not good if the reason you're adjusting your mirrors is because of highway conditions or something. Finally, the cameras will randomly see a parked vehicle or something very much not in the way and slam on the brakes suddenly. Do not recommend at all.

2025 Volvo EX30 Twin Motor Performance Plus 4dr Hatchback AWD (electric DD)
One year in and very happy with the car. Using digital key, none of difficulties noted by others with unlocking/locking. Very fast and a pleasure to drive. Excellent in snow, even with all-season tires.

2026 Volvo EX30 Twin Motor Performance Ultra 4dr Hatchback AWD (electric DD)
My first EV, after 4 Volvos over the past 20 years. The first time I read about the coming EX30 back in 2022 it really didn’t seem that appealing to me. Not sure if it was the size, proportions or spartan interior but recently they reeled me into a test drive with the claim of 3.4 seconds 0-60. In person the car looks impressive in my opinion (all black, no 2 tone particularly nice). The … test drive was a low mileage cpo 2025 ultra trim. Quiet, smooth, effortless driving at speeds much faster than I am normally accustomed to in my ‘21 xc60. I’ve had my 2026 for only 3 weeks. So far the tech is working (digital key, wireless CarPlay, google assistant, nearly instantaneous auto heated seats and steering wheel). Rear seating is kid size only but front compartment is airy and comfortable. After many years of wagons, minivans, midsize suvs the ex30 is the perfect size for me. Comfortable zipping around country roads as well as cruising highways. The range is admittedly modest. It’s too early to tell but it looks like I might get close to the claimed range if I go light on the acceleration and stay within the speed limit. That said, it’s really so effortless and quiet to drive that I find myself going much faster than I have driven in prior vehicles. Front seats are comfy but I think for this price Volvo should include traditional Volvo-Quality seats. In case you’re not aware, the $7500 rebate is still available if you lease (as a cap reduction). We’ll see how this goes for a couple years….the 2027 ex60 might address range issues and more familiar Volvo seating?
