Used 2005 Volvo XC90 Consumer Reviews
Beware !
Bought in fall 2004.Replaced transmission @ 1800 miles. Third transmission just installed at 6500 miles. Had to replace radio control buttons on steering wheel & i never use! Radio was cuttung out.Drive shaft rubbing on muffler, metal scrap in drip pan.Now replacing brakes after they replaced the 2nd transmission.Very leary about next problem!
Never wanted a Volvo til now!
I always thought Volvo's were pretty ugly, and most of them were, but when I saw this, I did the research, and finally bought, and love it!!!! Had a couple problems which dealer fixed quickly (CD player, keys, a few minor recalls), but other than that, this is a great, great vehicle!

Volvo XC-90 SUV Review
The XC90 is the 6th leased Volvo in our family. We lease them because of the confidence we have in the safety engineered into the vehicle. I never anticipated just how safe the XC90 is, until I was offered and participated in the Volvo XC90 off road "Owner Experience" driving test. This car performed far better then my expectations. The Dynamic Stability and Traction Control along with the Roll Stability Control performed flawlessly, and gave me complete confidence that this vehicle is capable of responding well under a wide variety of hazardous road conditions. I spend much of my time in the XC90, and this is probably the most comfortable, enjoyable and safest car I have ever driven.
Not as fun as my X-5 but not bad
For the value, the vehicle is great. More than enough interior room to sit comfortably. Sluggish off the line but once you are up to speed, keeps up very easily with traffic. My biggest issue with the XC-90 are the blind spots on both the drivers and passenger side. Even with a quick turn of the head to look for traffic next to you, you do not always see it.
XC90 set back
I was number 11 when i bought my volvo when it came out. i love the truck but here are some problems i experienced. Turbo lag @ 3000 rpm, leaks in tail light allowing water in, misaligned steering wheel slightly, an unusual sound in my engine that led to a broken transmission that needed replacement a year ago, depleted steering fluid @ 20,000 with reason unknown, engine hose leaking that needs replacing @ 30,000 miles, 4 tires worn out @ 30,000 miles, 2X changed front brakes, front rotor change last December. I have a Toyota that does not have most of his problem. Despite of everything I still like my truck, probably due to safety and looks, who knows
