Used 2005 Volvo XC90 Consumer Reviews
Disappointing Quality
We've always wanted to have Volvo and finally we've saved enough to buy one. What a disappointment! In the past 6 months we have to bring in the car three times to be fixed ranging from electrical problems to detached trim. This is worse than my first car, a mere Ford Escort!
Love It!!
I laughed at my husband when we bought our first Volvo 3 years ago because we are both country people and this just didn't fit in with the Fords and Dodges the we had prevously owned but now we won't buy anything else. We just recently bought the XC90 and so many of the features sold this SUV to us even after looking at several others on the market. The reliability along with the luxury is hard to find anywhere else. We see ourselves taking a Volvo with us wherever we move. The power behind it is so much better then what I could expect, handles wonderfully on an almost vertical rise.

6 time Volvo owner
Exceptionally comfortable; easy to get in and out of even for people who are shorter; mechanically and cosmetically great; a real solid feel combined with great handling; does not ride or drive like a truck; eye- catching design; have had virtually no problems; combined city-highway mileage averages 19-21 mpg. Luv it!
Run Away, Run Away!
I shouldn't have been so quick on the purchase of this over-rated, over- priced baby SUV. The exterior lines of the vehicle are great, but the interior space, terrible design for the defroster (which left my interior windows frozen on several mornings and at one point didn't even work! It's a design flaw, I'm told). My old s80 was just wonderful and carried me everywhere in quiet, effortless style. I had absolutely no problems with it. This thing is a loud, poorly put- together "luxury" vehicle that gets me 13 miles to the gallon in the city (better on HWY, of course). There is nothing wrong, I'm told, but I still hate it and will be trading it back in this summer for another s80. Run Away!
Volvo-worth the price
I purchased the Volvo after Christmas at the same time my brother in law purchased a Volvo S 40, thinking we would get a better "deal". I had no trade in. I feel I met my objective. The XC 90 I puchased was the advertized "lead" car they used to get you in the store. The fit and finish is very good, performance on the road solid with good pick-up. Mileage is 18 to 21 MPG. The ride is smooth and storage space adequate for hauling lawn furniture purchased at Walmart and golf bags for the weekend outing. The safety features are outstanding. I attended the VOLVO Drive for Life Training at Dodger Stadium on 2/12/05 and now have a much better understanding of what the XC90 can do.
