I have a 2019 Toyota Tacoma SR SX package (blackout). I did my research prior to purchase and noticed that most of the complaints had to do with lag and shift point confusion. As a result, I knew that I was going to have to get a vehicle tune. The tune I chose was KDmax. My 2019 Tacoma now feels like my 2007 Tacoma but on roids...love it.

2019 TRD Off-road 2wd. So far not bad!

Just traded in a 2008 TRD Off-road 4wd with very few frills. It could go off-road anywhere and pull my light camper with ease. I put a topper with roof racks on it and had the camper filled and a kayak on top earlier this summer. It had nearly 167,000 but still ran like new. Had some issues with power windows and other knobs but never a real complaint. My 2019 TRD 2wd is stacked with all the options you could want on the inside and the outside looks great. I too have hood rattling a high speeds but also had that on my 2008. Toyota really needs to fix that and I’ll try the silicone because it’s not worth messing with the dealer. They still don’t even have the title and they’re blaming Covid. Regarding the engine performance. I’m not impressed from the standpoint that it doesn’t perform any better than my 2008. I also have less weight now with the 2wd and I can see why some 4wd owners may not be pleased. This is better understood if you look at the fact that the new engines are now mostly aluminum and what they put in the Siena and Highlander. I also own a 2009 siena and it drives great. With that said I don’t own a new 4wd so I can only guess. Im pretty sure with the RR Diff I’m good to go on any mild off-road terrain I might encounter. It is a 6 speed and my 2008 was a 5 speed. I find that if I really want more power, like a lot of people complain about, I shift into manual and 3rd is a beast and quite possibly way more fun than my old 2008.

My 2019 Toyota Tacoma had lifter problems at 42000 km, instead of changing the lifter rack and changing all lifters on that bank, they only changed 2,now vacuum pump is going, the service manager said o if you ever have problems with it I’ll see to it that you get good service, I really have no faith in him , I asked for a new crate engine because of the problems at such low km, and appareny Toyota does not have crate engines which is totally wrong in my opinion, what ever happened to Toyota reliability, all out the window

Bad choice

Purchased used 2019 Tacoma SR 2.7l 4WD. I am a Toyota lover. Had driven most Toyotas, From ECHO, to Corolla, Avalon, RAV4, and 2005 Tacoma SR5. All those vehicles were amazing and fun to drive. Well, unfortunately 2019 Tacoma is anything like those cars. It is a junk. The noise from rear is unbearable. The shifting is bad, really bad. Inside didn’t change since 2005. It is just bad truck. I am so disappointed. This is going to be last Toyota vehicle.
