Very Reliable Car
I bought mine in 2011 with 52k miles on it. There was one previous owner. I beat this car up in the 6 years I had it. I put about 30k miles/year on it. It made three long hauls to mountain ranges and several 500 mile trips to visit my family and a 700 mike trip to the beach. I only ever had to do regular maintenance: replace clutch, brakes, tires, and change oil. I will say 3 of the 4 door handles broke off in the past year but they still worked and the poor thing was never parked in a garage. The only reason I’m getting rid of it is bc the transmission went out at 200,000 miles. While it’s rare for manual transmissions to go out, I put two after market clutches in it which I’ve heard can be bad for transmissions. Otherwise the car ran great for me the entire time I’ve owned it and up until this last issue, I received many compliments from mechanics on how great everything ran considering it’s age and mileage.

Bye Bye Jeep!
I have only owned my Matrix a week, but it is fantastic! I traded a Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo. I thought I would miss the 4X4 and size. No way! This Matrix has already pulled itself through the snow, is a joy to drive, reliable, and the gas savings is amazing! I also got everything that I had in the Jeep into the Matrix. Yes, it is smaller and the steering wheel is a bit closer to the dashboard than I am used to, but it is worth getting used to it over time. Definitely check this car out! You won't be disappointed!

Everything you'd expect
With the gas prices soaring, I decided to trade in my SUV and get something with better gas mileage. The snag was that I still wanted the cargo space that my SUV gave me. That is what lead me to the Matrix. Honestly it is doing the job in excellent fashion. I haven't had it for long, but I know that it will prove to be a good buy. The drive quality is good, and responsive, the handling is better than I had expected. All in all it has everything that I was looking for. I definitely reccomend this if you are looking for space, fuel economy, and a sporty good look all rolled into one reliable, affordable vehicle.
Love it!
I had a 2005 Matrix until I was T- boned on driver side after a minivan ran a red light at 50 mph. Car was totaled, but I walked away with all limbs & I was so happy w. the safety of side impact that I bought another Matrix (2007). I love it! City MPG on manual trans. is about 29-30 MPG (I calculate it every so often). I am only 5'2" so I like that the seat raises and I don't have to be too close to the steering wheel.
Used, abused and still going
My Toyota Matrix has been a great car. I've use her to haul tools, plants and lots of junk. I have been able to fit lots and lots of stuff in the back. Recently, I hauled bedroom and living room furniture and a week ago, I bought a linen cabinet and the people I bought it from said it would be impossible to fit it inside the car, but it did fit, and they were impressed. I've also used it to pull up a couple of 10 foot trees. It scuffed the finish on the car, but nothing that could not be buffed out. I could go on and on. My only problem was with a dealership installed 6 CD player. It gave way 3 years to the day I bought my car. Still, I love this car.
