Used 2004 Toyota Matrix Consumer Reviews
Not so great
This vehicle is designed to appeal to a market segment rather than to actually be a decent automobile. It's too tall, underpowered and doesn't live up to the Toyota reliability reputation. In short, "suck."
Not Toyota Qualioty
It's a cute car but having owned/leased 6-7 Toyota vehicles this is by far a real piece of garbage. Between the buzzing noise coming from behind the dash and the rattles in the rear I go nuts when I drive it. The engine could use more spunk with less buzzing. Havent had it long enough to experience any problems other than an AC problem right after delivery. The took good care of it with no problem. I wouldn't buy it again or tell my friends about it. Heard rumors that the engine might be the GM 4 banger.

My review
Been satisfied so far. No problems.
Seats are a problem
I bought this car for the cargo capacity. I use the fold down front passenger seat feature. Unfortunately the driver's seat is uncomfortable for me on long trips. Too much side bolster and not enought lumbar. Compared to the new Mazda 3 hatchback, the interior is nothing special.
03 Matrix
I'm a single female in my mid twenties with no kids. So although I didn't need anything really large, I don't like small vehicles. I wanted something decently priced, sporty and fun, yet reliable. I found this car to be fun and funky, yet sensible. All the toyota's I've had as well as other people's have run for up to a couple hundred thous miles. It's fwd and there's room for my mtn bike. It's as large as some SUVs but with much cheaper insurance.
