Engine stalled, car would not restart

Safety and reliability on this car doesn’t even deserve one star, I leased 2020 Corolla LE in August 2019 and in December 2019 the car engine stalled in the middle of the road and the car would not restart the engine codes that fired off per service department were P1603 engine stall, P1604 startability malfunction, P1605 Rough idling, the Toyota service team claims to have found contaminated unleaded gas in my vehicle, which i found can not be true because customers have been pumping gas at the same gas station which is a pretty well reputable gas company and no other vehicles have been affected, With no other choice I needed my vehicle repaired and was forced to pay $500 in repairs right before the holiday, of course they said it was not covered by manufacturers warranty, they said I needed new spark plugs and they siphoned my fuel tank and did not properly clean out the fuel tank, my engine light is still coming on and now they are telling me I may need to replace a catalytic converter, which I was told If engine light doesn’t resolve I will need to be ready to pay additional money to repair and replace, just found the Recall all over the news outlets was just announced by Toyota about 2018-2019 Toyota Corolla have recalled for bad fuel pumps. I strongly believe my 2020 I bought in August 2019 is also related to this recall as I had the same symptoms occur with my corolla and I am very concerned about the safety of this car. I feel taken advantage of and ripped off by Toyota service team and will be going back to dealership where the vehicle was serviced to ask for my money back and have the vehicle fully repaired or see about turning this 2020 corolla back in, also note, less than 24 hours of leasing and driving it off the lot the rear passenger tire blew out on the freeway with my children inside the car causing the vehicle to fish tail on the freeway and Toyota roadside assistance could not locate or help me after 2 hours of waiting on side of freeway, I had to call highway patrol myself after Toyota roadside agent claims local police and highway patrol were not available to be reached to dispatch for help. After a long battle about the tire replacement Toyota finally agreed to replace blown out tire after initially wanting to charge me for replacing the tire that literally ripped off the rim. I’ve owned and leased several vehicles over the past 20 years and this 4 month old 2020 Corolla is the most unreliable vehicle I have ever experienced, please be consider this review before considering purchasing or leasing this car.

Ample leg and head room. Positives: stylish, inexpensive, great gas mileage, good visibility and lots of safety features. Negatives: road noise, touch screen is slow and should be angled more to the driver; automatic parking break release is abrupt or jerky—you know when it has released! Good value—would buy again.

Best car I’ve EVER owned!

I am 61 years I have been driving for 45 years and have owned over 20 cars in that time. I have just taken delivery of a Corolla SE upgrade package and it is terrific. Acceleration is brisk, comfort is excellent and I know that the reliability will be off the chart . Even the fuel economy exceeds manufacturer’s claim! The Safety Sense is excellent and easily understood. Extremely happy with my choice. I would recommend this car to friends and family.

Positive and Negative

Positive: Smooth steering, many safety features as standard, reasonable price. Negative: Road Noise, thump noise from the back when brake (gets annoying) Updated days after driving more: My wife and I didn’t notice on the test drive as it normally is a short test drive but I recommend you to do test drive on red light areas and try to stop often, you will hear a thump noise every time you stop. We thought it will go away, It DIDNT, we took it to Service just a few days after we bought and guess what, EVERY 2020 Corolla has this problem, service couldn’t fix it. Toyota HQ are involved considering they didn’t want to acknowledge it is a defect but clearly it is as no thump noise every time you stop can be justified as engineering reasons. If you are okay with hearing that every time you stop go ahead but I wouldn’t recommend this vehicle to anyone, hear it for yourself and think twice.

Fix the Entune and I'm a Believer!

We bought the Corolla SE with the 6-speed. The clutch is buttery, the gearbox precise. I'm 6'2" and I can get comfortable, as can my wife, who is 5'3". The 2.0 engine has enough for a kick of fun. We put in the TRD airbox, airtube, and filter. Really helps throttle response. Buy the components separately (not in the kit form) and you'll save a couple hundred. The seats are comfortable, but the ride is a bit harsh (probably due to the 40series 18" wheels). The handling is flat and direct. Handling is on par with a Focus ST, horsepower is not. This puts out 169hp, which is nice for this car, but... The Entune audio system is clunky and obnoxious. We're looking at a Camry in a year or two, but if Toyota hasn't fixed Entune by then, we won't consider it. It is THAT bad. Backup camera is clear, but lacks guides for turning. You get a straight box back that doesn't vary with turning the wheel. The laser cruise is easy to use and it is easy to adjust following distance from 3seconds (default) to 1second. The SE with MT does NOT have the different driving modes like the XSV. The steering is a touch light, so I would have liked to have a "sport mode" or something to tighten it up a bit. The iMT rev matches as you downshift (think "electronic double clutch"), but you have to engage it and anytime you stop, you have to push the button again or it turns off. We are driving this mixed city, highway, and hilly/curvy. We flog it, and are averaging over 33mpg. If this is like my last Toyota, that digital reading is optimistic, but either way, for the fun this car provides, I'll take it. Ours had been on the lot for close to a year (no one wants a MT anymore) and the dealer was willing to deal. We paid over $4,000 less than MSRP. That included dealer and Toyota incentives and no financing. Your mileage may vary.
