Used 2010 Toyota 4Runner Consumer Reviews
Toyota Missed The Mark A Bit
I had a '07 4R and traded for the 2010 4R. The new one is very nice, but it is so much larger and bulkier than the 07. The interior features are square and give a harsher, hard appearance. The locking gas door is gone. Why?? I had to buy a locking gas cap. It is a fine SUV, but if I knew what I know now, I would've kept my 07 4R.
Bastard child
Do you know what you get when you cross the FJ Cruiser and the 4th generation 4Runner? The 5th generation 4Runner. I affectionately call it the "bastard child" regarding its new look. A combination of each. I understand Toyota is discontinuing the FJ and I believe they intentionally designed the new 4Runner to reflect both looks to appeal to both buyers. I just traded my 2004 Sport V8 AWD for this new guy and yes it has a few shortcomings in comparison but I hope I love it in the long run as I have my 04.

Just right (almost)
I was looking for a body-on-frame SUV with excellent reliability and good mileage. So far, so good! The ride quality is great for a truck and road/wind noise is low. I find the driver comfort high, but suspect that it could be a challenge for those over 6'2". Vehicle handling is very good for a tall, truck-based platform. Worst feature - the iPod control is a joke. Scrolling through songs/artists is done in chunks, each set taking about 2 seconds! Further, it goes back to the "A" position after you start a song. I quickly abandoned that route and use the iPod through the AUX input. The Toyota software developers should be ashamed of themselves.
Love, love, my 4runner early xmas gift!
I was patiently waiting for my 4 runner for 2 months and finally it arrived in December. Loved everything about it even my baby boy calls it mommy's boom boom. Everything about it is awesome. Drives smoothly, handles turns well, and has a kick when you want power. Just couldn't wait for the TRAIL or limited models to come in so we got the SR5 instead.
A definite purchase
This SUV is a must buy. It is by far the best SUV i have had the chance to drive. Has an outstanding ride quality and a tough rugged appearance. I took this truck through over 24 inches of snow and it handled it without even a slight struggle. Fuel economy is great and it has far more power than you would expect from a V6. All together a great buy if you are in the market for a SUV.
