Used 2006 Toyota 4Runner Consumer Reviews
Lousy Transmission
I bought this truck after having a 2002 GMC Envoy. Since I bought this truck, I've noticed the vehicle shifts up or down harshly and at the wrong speeds. When the ac is on, the idle is so high that the truck seems to drive itself. Coming off the highway, the car lurches forward when you're merging onto a new road. Very disappointing and can't wait to get rid of it.

This rig has lived up to the Toyota tradition, but there are a couple of niggling annoyances. At 20K miles when I make a turn there is a creak that comes from the back. My friends call this car 'the squawkwagon' due to the fact that the rear assist warning siren comes on and stays on whenever the car is in reverse. I'm used to it but it really gets on passengers nerves. The dealership can't fix it either. Also I added a Westin Sportmaster grille guard and it looks sharp!

This is a great vehicle. Our first new Toyota. Comfortable, reliable, smooth rider. My kids both want me to give it to them! I'm thinking of moving to something like the Lexus LX just for the luxury of it, but would recommend the 4Runner to anyone.
LOVE this car
My wife bought this car new. We drove it for three years and put about 60000 on it without ANY problems other than the navigation system which always seemed to have us wandering in the ocean whenever we drove down I-95 in Florida. It was reliable, fun to drive, great looking, comfortable. We traded it in because we needed 4WD as we were about to move to AK in 2009. We loved it so much we bought a 2004 4WD 4-runner and splurged on a 2008 land cruiser ( both have been fantastic). And the 2006 that we traded in was bought by my father in-law. He was a little miff that we just didn't sell him the car in the first place so that he didn't have to pay the extra dealer mark-up.
I love it!
I love the way my new ride looks (the color I chose is Driftwood Pearl w/cloth tannish interior), the way it handles and the features. I wish it had more get up and go but I did get the V6 so... I really enjoy it and would highly recommend at least a test drive - that is all it will take. I love the controls for back window and the double decker system and cargo net for organizing groceries, luggage, etc. I also love the ease of the hatch opening, closing gently then the automatic "lock" so I don't have to slam close.
