I converted from GM andNo buyers remorse
I was hesitant at first transitioning fr Chevy Tahoe into 4Runner. My Tahoe had problems and I was looking for a reliable SUV that handles well on and off-road, mountains, snow and ice, as well as has cargo room. I thought I was compromising getting a 4runner but Inow I feel I got a lot better value. SUV. It looks big but feels small and maneuverable. Great handling. It accelerates and handles like a sedan. Transmission intuitively responds as if interpeting your intentions by how you apply gas or brakes. i don't know how they accomplished it. Bumpers are high enought to allow excellent approach and descent angle. Quality material is used on the inside trim none of that cheap plastic.
Outstanding Truck
I just bought a used 06 4Runner Ltd. I love it. Smooth ride on pavement. Went off road and it did great-and I put it through terrain/trails that would break a crossover and strand many other SUVs. The pavement ride is far smoother than any serious 4x4 I have owned or driven, including a jeep CJ-5 Willys, Cherokees, pickups, Blazers and Broncos. The 'bells and whistles' on the limited model make it a real joy and comfort for driver and passengers, especially if they are a family. Comfort on and off road is truly amazing. Toyota cured the two biggest gripes I had about my 98 4Runner-weak engine and too small gas tank. Also made cup holders that don't block the air vents.

Very nice truck
Always had Jeeps before. Bought this 4Runner and I have to say that I'm very impressed. The 4wd system can run in 4wd on dry pavement, or you can run it 2wd. Locking center differential is electronic, so you don't have to worry about the transfer case binding on dry pavement (since it can be turned off). Interior room is very good, low, flat load floor in the rear is good, and ease of putting rear seats down is easier than the Jeep. The v6 is an excellent choice with plenty of power, and decent towing capacity for small jobs. I like the driver instrumentation and the stock radio has an MP3 player capability. Good fuel economy with the v6. Avg. 19-20 mpg.
Ultra Reliable!!
Let me first say that I am not an offroad enthusiast and lets face it, that's what a 4Runner is made for. Pros: Mine has been just ridiculously reliable. I bought it used off of craiglist and it now has almost 270k miles on it with not one single problem. Rugged styling. Interior including dash, consoles and cloth seats have held up well to brutal desert southwest heat and sun. Decent power and acceleration as compared to other midsized SUVs. Cons: Small interior cargo space for a midsize SUV. Gas mileage could be better, typically 19.5mpg on the highway with the cruise control on. Tire pressure sensor kept failing. Check engine light comes on unless a particular motor oil weight is used (cant remember code). This doesnt affect the reliability of the vehicle but can be annoying. Not enough leg room in both the front drivers side and passenger side seats if you have child car seats in the back. This is a rear wheel drive SUV so unless the push button 4X4 is on, grip and traction in the snow sucks. And on that note, 55mph max in H4 4X4 mode (but really if its snowing that hard are you going to want to drive more than 55mph, probably not).

Awesome SUV
First SUV owned, got it because starting a family and to be able to make trips to the snow without worry. Great truck, love everything about it, A/C design needs some work but you get used to it. Too bad MPG cant be a tad better, but it is a SUV after all. Surprising good ride and strikes the perfect balance of truck, smoothness and sportiness.
