CVT Transmission, Beware!
Pay attention to the extended 100k mile transmission warranty, even though sometimes it dies at 102k. All the lights popped on, ABS, hill assist, check engine, etc. and I was told it would cost $3500-4000, to have the transmission rebuilt, but it costs more than the car is worth. The mechanic told me to leave the car on the side of the road. I would have except I still owe money on it. Subaru messed up pretty bad, and the consumers have to pay for it. There are a couple other recalls that were issued, of course when I went to the Dealership to have that handled, they found something else with it. The car has been in and out of mechanic shops, things going out at different times. My headlights have gone out many times, not sure if there is an electrical issue there. The stock windshield is very easy to crack, I had to replace it and the replacement is lasting much longer and withstands more than a pebble. It wasn't bad on a commute, easy to park, and the sound system is pretty good.

Massive Disappointment
Had the car for 8 years 100k Initially bought it for good reputation for reliability, safety, performance etc. 8 years later I must say the impreza was a let down. In terms of maintenance the boxer engine makes changing the sparkplugs cumbersome and costly. Local non dealership shop charged me $150 per sparkplug. $600. It also had numerous recalls more than I ever had with Honda and Toyota. The biggest problem was the floor near the pedal is sloped causing strain on my ankle and knee. This resulted in chronic ankle and leg pain. For a year I'd get massive pain in my feet to the point where I couldn't walk for days. It happened every 5-6 weeks. Only after shelter in place did I notice that not driving the impreza, was the major factor. I had not noticed that my foot ends in odd angles when I am driving and braking. The boxer engine causes the floor to be sloped from the center console at an almost 15-20 degree angle. So ask I put my heel on the floor past the slope my foot strains to push on the gas. The strain over time cause problems. Similar to carpal tunnel syndrome but for the foot and leg. Repetitive stress injury. Subaru actually cost me in lost work and productivity not to mention pain. As a result I will never buy from Subaru again.

Great car!
Good style and comfort especially for tall people (I'm 6'1"). Great pickup and braking and it feels safe. Not a sports car so don't start a race with a GTI. Car can drive on any surface without a problem even though it's a little low to the ground. Big trunk with the hatchback. Very reliable, bought the car used 8 months ago and I haven't had any issue.

My 2013 Impreza IMPRESSED after poor start.
I was uninspired when getting our 2013 Suburu mostly because it was low to the ground but also was very basic and bland with interior and entertainment. BUT this was an absolute GREAT car mileage and especially winter wise. It handled all winters very gracefully and was very happy with it. So much so that we have leased another 2016 recently and this one is really much nicer looking and feeling. The stereo system has improved dramatically and the rear back up system is nice BUT it really SHOULD have a navigation system- thats the only area the new one lacks. That should be included in all packages they offer! It looks sleeker than our prior car and the color a nice Jasmine Green is sharp and very cool looking along with the beige cloth interior. We remain very impressed and at this stage getting 27.3 MPH with about 18 in city. We love the car- yes wish it were higher off the ground and easier to get in and out of but overall a tremendous car and highly recommend!

Falls just short in almost every category
Bought the car in September of 2013. I was looking at several but decided on this as I couldn't afford the gas bill for the premium fuel only WRX and this car still had the famous Subaru AWD but also boasted very good gas mileage. So far at 6000 miles with largely conservative highway driving I am getting worse mileage than my girlfriend's 250hp BMW. Worse mileage. It feels under-powered even for a 148hp car (the dealer says "it will really open up at 10000mi" lol) and the AWD has not been as advertised. I've gotten stuck and had to be pulled out three times on a dirt road that my old sports car did not have trouble with. This car is so close .. but fails.
Still undecided
After having the car for awhile its not as good as my impressions of when I bought it from the dealership. But it is a very good price AWD car. Buying a Subaru was a different experience. I found out that you will get a substantial better price from a large volume dealer than smaller one. This is how Subaru distrubution model works and the Impreza is a hot car. Our order took 6 months instead of the 12 weeks we were told, but we kind of knew this going in.
Still going strong
Currently at 108,000 miles with few major problems. The car has had several recalls but all performed at the dealership as needed. It has used almost a quart of oil per 1,000 miles but other than needing to constantly monitor that, it has been a very good car. It had a rather expensive ($1600.00) transmission problem that lit up all the instrument cluster lights. It has had wheel bearings replaced several times.

Reliable and Fun to Drive
I have owned my Subaru Impreza since I drove it off the lot in 2013. While I’ve had to replace the breaks, tires, and take it to the shop for body damage caused by the driver (me) I have otherwise had no problems. My Impreza is currently at 90k mile and the last 2 years all I have had to pay for was the oil change and inspection. It can be a sluggish when it comes to acceleration, and has quite a bit of road noise which makes it hard to have a conversation on the freeway via Bluetooth. But it handles so well and visibility is great so I feel like I can go anywhere safely while enjoying the view. To me that’s all that really matters in a car.

Reliable, zippy car
Had my 13 Impreza for 8 years. Bought used with 55k miles, more had 127k miles. It's been an excellent, reliable car that is zippy and fun to drive. Knock on wood, only issue has been repeated rear wheel bearing issues. Had them replaced a couple times. Nothing other than that. Love this car.

Not worth the hype
Bought with 120k miles used, no accidents, and everything was great for the first year. As I got closer to 130k miles, everything started to go wrong. It has excessive oil consumption (about 1q every 1,000) miles, and is out of warranty to fix. The Bluetooth is clunky at best, faulty at worst. Engine often starts up rough and both my mechanic and the dealership can’t find the issue. The fan speed dial broke recently so it only blows on low or not at all. I keep up on all regular maintenance and oil changes, yet something new seems to go wrong every other month. It’s fun to drive, but not worth all of the inconveniences. I’ll likely go back to a VW or a Volvo next time around.

I would avoid subura 2013...
Had rotors go at 30,000 miles (1 and half years old) The dealer would not honor the warren-tee, instead "turned them" looking for a different car or at least year.. don't get 2013

2013 Impreza eval
Outstanding car with great all-weather capability. Engine is a little weak at 150hp, especially with the AC running. Extremely reliable transportation with excellent safety features.

Excellent for it intended buyer
We bought this for for the following reason and so far it has been great at it. - Traction in the snow - Fuel economy - Cargo space - Safety rating - Reliability A lot of people seem to have reliability issue with the car, so far I've had no problem, I hope it will stay that way. It's has now been for years and we have no out of schedule maintenance expenses. It prowess in the snow even exceeded my expectation. With a set of Michelin winter tires, it feel like driving in the summer.

Avoid this car unless you have Deep Pockets
There's far away from used car as possible nothing but trouble wiring to the start er connectors just fall off and we'll leave you stranded constantly Burns oil burns as much gas as a mid-size pickup truck and it'll be more in the shop than you have it on the road

First and last Subie
I have the 2013 Limited hatchback. The car handles great, and has remarkable traction in snow, especially with snow tires on (CDN driver here!). All said, it is AWD, so it should do all of this! Downside(s)... stock Yokahama tires were garbage and my dealer did not stand by me. I am constantly needing brake and bearing work done. The shifter cable has crapped out on me twice, the most recent tonight (what drove me to look online for potential secret warranty bulletin), the cable opening my gas hatch also gave out. I had a continuous snap in around my windshield when cold outside and I hit a bump in the road. I had into the dealer twice with no issue found. I recently needed to replace the windshield from a crack. Replaced windshield does NOT do the same!! Navigation system is way too complicated and Bluetooth connectivity is iffy. My back hatch hydraulics went with no warning (no stiffness or whatever) and just about took my head off! I detest this car. I really looked forward to getting more years from it, but I am done. I had a 1988 Honda Accord and a 2002 CRV before this Impreza and had only normal expected wear items occur, and MUCH better treatment by the dealership. I will never buy a Subaru again!
