great in the snow
I'm from Québec province, close from Montréal and here the weather isn't particuliary great, especially during winter and that's why I purchased this car and so far I'm convinced of my choice! This is the best affordable AWD, and a true one like the Audi's, in his class, a lot better then the Matrix/Vibe. Only if this car have Mazda3 look...
Rally Inspired Fun
This car will probably be the funnest car to drive becuase of its power and stability. It will out run any car in the $30,000 range, no other car can touch this one in that range period.

5 months old and loving it
As a true car guy I was looking for a fun daily driver. Living in Colorado the car had to be AWD and reliable. I usually don't keep my cars for very long. I think this car will be different. It's very fast, handles well and has great brakes. I did install Blizzak LM-22 tires for winter use. This is a must. I would buy this car again.
Subaru WRX STI awsome performer
This car is just plain fun to drive. For a 2.5 liter engine it has neck snapping mid range torque. The exhause note is music to your ears. It is much more of a total package than I had expected. From the Brembo brakes, six speed transmission, 300 ponies and sophisticated all wheel dirve system this car is off the chart for value.
4 door rocket
This car is amazing. If you want porche performance with room for 5, this is the car for you. Just tap the gas and you are off to the races. it corners like none other and brakes like the champ it is.
Hot Subaru
This is the most fun I've had driving since my college club racing days of driving Porsche Speedsters. Living in the Rocky mountains I can't think of a better car-snow,sleet,ice,rain and curvy roads. But you have to stay alert to drive this car.Due to the high torque and quick acceleration you have to judge road conditions before you stomp on it.
best yet
I find it much more comfortable than my previous car (Ford Mustang). It's faster, safer, and gets better gas mileage. The boy racer wing is a bit much. I love the interior and seats. All the controls are within easy reach. The transmission is solid. The gears are very, very short. The engine is incredibly powerful. This is the greatest car I have ever owned by leaps and bounds.
Great even for daily driver
I traded in my mitsu 3000gt vr-4 for this awesome upgrade. Although same hp, the sti just feels so much more responsive with minimal turbo lag. The interior could be nicer, but its way better than the evo. The suspension is a little easier on you than the evo, making this a better choice if you are using for daily driver. I love the AWD coupled with the DCCD and supersport ABS braking system. The Defi gauges in the beautiful glowing red and cool starting sequence is excellent. Don't think about buying this car...just buy it!
WRX STi
With 300hp this vehichle is awesome! The unique looks and the engine make the STi worth the money.
Amazing
Great car, fun to drive. Beautiful inside and out. For the car enthusiast, you can add on nearly 100 horsepower with only a few mods. Fast, yet safe, all wheel drive gives complete control of the road. Manual transmission is a thrill. I would never consider buying any other car at the same price level. A terrific buy.
Icy, Steep Hills? No Problem
I bought this car for two reasons: for a 60 mile (round trip) commute to work each day and to get me up the hill to go skiing on the weekends. This car has performed admirably in both respects. I was pleasantly surprised by how well my Subaru handled snowy or icy, steep hills. I didn't find a hill all winter that I couldn't get up and it didn't matter where, or how, I parked, I never got stuck. And this was during a winter that the papers said was the area's most snowy since 1916. In addition, the car is comfortable for my commute. This is saying something considering I am 6'1". Observed mpg: 25-26 with ski racks; 28-30 w/o ski racks. Great vehicle for camping, too.
WRX STi 04
This is a Great Car. More than I expected.
Amazing Car
This is the best car in the world I would seriously take that car over a Dodge Viper any day. And if I won a Viper I would sell it and get 2 of those badass machine. No Kidding. Rock on Subaru!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Best ever.
I have read about this vehicle for months but my surprise came when I bought it...This car is unbelievable! It's not for everybody because of the stiff ride and raw perfomance. But I love it! And I will enjoy it for years to come. Thank you Subaru!
OUTSTANDING!!!!!
This vehicle is absolutely the most fun to drive. Two guys that I work with (all of us are in our 40ies) told me I would love it, and I do!! It makes me smile every time I drive it. I drove the 350Z and Infinity G35 coupe before I bought my STI. The STI will smoke either vehicle.
A Blast to Drive!
Absolutely love this car! Jaw dropping acceleration, tight handling and grippy all wheel drive make this a blast to drive.
The Best Bang for your Buck!
The WRX is the best value 4door sport sedan out on the market. I am 6'4" tall, and there is plenty of head and leg room in this car. Space for seating in the rear is limited but decent. The seats are very comfortable and supportive; after driving for 120 miles straight in this car, i was not tired at all. The ride is smooth, but responsive. The steering is quick and effortless. The performance is amazing! If you stay off the turbo you can get really good gas mileage too. The standard 6disc in dash player is not the best, but it sounds pretty pretty good (for what you pay for its excellent).
Subaru STi Rocks
I planned to test drive a number of performance 4-door sedans, but then I test drove an STi and was so blown away I bought it on the spot. This has to be one of the best, if not THE best, high performance car bargain ever. I dig everything about my STi and have to open the door to my garage several times a night just to gaze upon my resting blue devil waiting to be unleashed on an unsuspecting motoring public. As a bonus, I have instant respect from the fast & furious crowd (and even the grayinig, detroit iron bably boomer crowd, of which I am one) anytime I pull up to the gas pump or stop by the local cruise night. This car rocks!
What Fun
This WRX is amazing. Nothing has come loose, fallen off or stopped working, unlike all the American cars I've owned. It's been to the dealer twice, for regular maintenance. It's great in bad weather.
Great Car - Sunroof= Still Good car
Great car, nicely manufactured and very fast. I love the braking and the speed put into this car, easily a good buy.
Love it
I bought a 2004 WRX SportWagon at the end of August of '03. In a few months I've already put nearly 8,000 miles on the car. I've not had a single problem with it to date. The performance is very good. The handling (stock tires and suspension) could be improved upon, but is by no means disappointing. I got the wagon for its cargo hauling ability and have not once regretted the choice. I would buy this vehicle again without hesitation.
Excellent
It has been an excellent vehicle. The car is very good in the dry and snow, and phenomenal in the wet. It feels very solid, and I have had no problems during the 57000 miles I have put on it. It is very fun to drive, gets decent fuel mileage, has plenty of interior space, and is a very parctical car. When you wear out the OE tires, I strongly recommend some high performance tires like Bridgestone Potenza 750s or S-03s. They make a great dry and wet car even better.
FUN FUN FUN
Purchased vehicle with automatic transmission for wife to use daily. The Turbo makes this a very fun car to drive, and merging into traffic is no longer a problem with this power. This is a performance sedan, so the ride is a little harsh but not severe. The handling more than makes up for the stiffer ride. Wife is averaging 23 mpg with mostly city driving. Manners on longer trips if very acceptable. Front seats are excellent and are fitted with side airbags. Rear seat has a folddown center section for longer items. Living in Phoenix, good A/C is a must and the Subaru's works great in 110 degree days. Great Car.
The Little Car That Could...
Besides its reliability and AWD, the WRX is just fun to drive! Gas mileage could be a little better, but when you're cruising on the highway, one tends not to look at how much gas is being used. I never thought shifting could be so fun!
what an amazing car!
I had an VW GTi before this and an Audi S4 before that and this car is simply amazing. It has effortless pace, wonderful build quality, plenty of gizmos, its thrilling to drive and people always ask about it. i did a big road trip in it and the seats were a little harsh after a while but that is my only qualm. don't hesitate, if you are enthusiast - buy one!
SCARY
I have owned 2BMW m-3 sedans,2 twin turbo z cars, a supra twin turbo, 2 corvettes, a taurus SHO,a VW gti 1.8t,and an audi quqttro, this WRX has been so reliable it is scary !!!!!!.No problems.Only slightly warped rotors due to frequent downhill driving. This is the most reliable car I have ever owned.
Subaru Impreza Outback Sport
This car is rugged, roomie, and sporty all in one. We love how the seats can fold down for extra space or that we can put the seat up and our dog can stay in the truck area, but there is a small problem Subura does not make a pet grate for this model. It does have a rubber tray that collects anything that our dog brings in with her. Even though the car is a four cylinder it is very peppy and the independent breaking system is awesome. The ride of the car is smooth because of the high raised suspension. Overall though we are very satisfied with the car and would recommend it to our friends.
Poor MPG
expect poor MPG. It will get 28 on the hwy going 55mph, but you'd have to be dead to drive this car like that. It will get 25mpg going 85 all day. But 20mpg when accelerating the way you WILL. It's a perfect long drive winter car, even the STi can't beat it for long hauls.
My Colorado Car
After moving to Colorado recently, I parted with my 2002 Jeep Wrangler to seek a more cost-efficient source of transportation that would also do well in the Rockies. After driving SUV's over the past ten years, I settled on my first "car" in a decade. It was a Subaru Outback Sport Wagon, and I drove it for a year and loved it. It carried my dog , bikes, snowboards, and camping gear all year with aplomb in all manner of weather. A raise in my salary coincided with a WRX test drive, and back I went to the dealership. What I got was the same, solid Subaru Boxer- powered vehicle with 25%+ more power, and incredible handling. Fantastic car!
The muscle car killer
This car is just pure amazing. It can out accelerate almost any rival, it handles like a dream on turns and can stop on the dime. The interior is very nice, the seats, steering wheel, pedals, everything. The exterior speaks for itself. If you're looking for an ultra high performance sedan, that is practical and reliable, starting under 30K, you must check this car.
Still Breaking In
This car has a lot of power. That is probably the selling point for all buyers. I only have 900 miles on it and I'm currently getting around 16 miles per gallon which is still horrible. When the optional STi short shifter was brand new it was VERY notchy and hard to shift but its improving. The lock on my trunk doesnt always unlock itself when i use the alarm and this is becoming very anoying. Besides that the car is a overall good buy and I'm satifyed. I'm glad I chose this over RSX Type-S.
STI WRX Gold
I am glad that I gought this car and thanks to Subaru of dallas letting me test drive a STI. I am amazed by the performance by the STI, the way it handles on the street and on the track.
Brute Force!
All I can say is stiff suspension, whiplash power, and more wiplash power for the passengers!! This thing is a beast that can put the all 300 horses to ground. Thanks to AWD!
WRXTREME
Going to be a year old soon-car pretty much lives up to the hype-altough around town performance isn't great if you want to keep your clutch, although once the turbo gets going not much could keep up. Highway driving is awesome, AWD is great and seamless- goes through snow like it's spring time- what other performance car could you say that about. Just found out 2005 is even further improved (too bad for me), actually looking forward toward next WRX purchase.
04 wrx sti
well its a great midlife crisis car !! remains me of my 66 shelby gt350. fast, not very good for long trips and lots of fun when the young guys in hondas pull alond side. classy silver paint and styling. for 32k wheres the floor mats and atleast a cheap radio.
The best car I've ever owned
I waited 10 months for this car to come in. It was well worth the wait. The car has 300 horsepower, 300 ftlbs of torque, All wheel drive, 6 speed, 3 limited slip differentials. It does over 100mph in the 1/4 mile and handles like a slot car. I find myself doing weird errands just so I can go out and drive. It's is like your best hot wheel car you ever had as a kid, except that you can drive it.
world performer
One of the best all around performance cars in the world...for a bargain. Most cars of this level cost 2 to 3 times the price. Also very good detail work like the STi logo on the tail pipe... as for everything else let's just say.. you can take it to the race track right out of the box!!
STI vs EVO - I've owned then Both Now.
I just got rid of a 2003 Evo after 1 year, and just got a 2004 STI: Both cars are just like the press says - But I give an edge to the STI. One big blast of a ride, the STI does have a more forgiving a ride than the Evo, has a better interior, and has a cruise control (Mitsu you listening?). Seat of the pants tells me the STI's 29 more horses and 27 more lbs torque are for real. Handling - both handle different and require different techniques on hard cornering. The Sti just a little lift throttle oversteer to set the apex, then punch it and watch the thing scream. I'm a speed junkie and the STI is just that much more than the EVO.
Pure Sports
Great car if you are looking for a pure sports car with four doors. I have had no problems since new and is the best car I have owned or driven. I would not trade this car for any other car that I would have to pay for.
Excellent car for this price
Good horsepower, decent acceleration, excellent handling, spacious interior, fun and sporty looks makes it a good choice for anything under 20k. Go for the silver exterior color.
Why buy anything else really?
Just bought an silver wagon and cannot be happier. Before I took the plunge, I was skeptical about the gas mileage as many people complained and gas prices are not pretty these days (My commute is 70+ miles a day). 1800 miles and 3 weeks after delivery date. I don't know why anybody complained about the gas. This thing is amazing with gas. I am very close to meeting the EPA estimates. My first full tank got 24mpg (already content). My last was high 26s (360 on 13.4 gallons). For you lead footers, shift before 3. I still think its enough power to move around. Overall, this is one amazing car. I can't wait until the snow comes. Oh yeah, it's fast too.
Best car onplanet
I searched for a year or more for car to fit my needs. Thought about 911, except needed to occasionally take my kids. Then thought M5 or M3, but after driving STI I never thought about anything else. This car is flawless in terms of performance and handling. Might not have the same prestige, but I would stack it up against anything. I love it.
excelent
A great car in which I´ve experienced true power with awd stability
Black STi
Being a World Rally Fan I wanted to own a car like the vehicles that race in that series. Mitsubishi came out with the Evo VII Lancer early this year to rave reviews. I drove one and felt that it was very rough edged and not suitable for a daily driver. In comparison the STi Impreza WRX is a very polished vehicle with awsome performance. Sub 5 second 0-60, 13.2 seconds in the quarter mile. "What is that?" Is the question I get the most. This car has about $18,000 worth of performance parts without the need to get rid of all the factory stock parts. BBS wheels, lightened glass, Alloy hood, brembo brakes, etc. etc....Get one and Enjoy.
Best Performance Bang for the Buck
What's not to like about a car that can give Porsche Turbos a run for their money on the road and cost you less than your average entry-level luxury snoozer? You get the convenience of 4 doors, an enourmous trunk, and respectable gas mileage. Plus, you get the safety of Subaru AWD standard. 'Nuff said.
Sport and Utility
This is my second Subaru, after owning a 2 door impreza L I found I needed a little more room. The rear folding seats allow for enough carry space to allow me to haul most of what I need around, and works perfect for transporting equipment for my job. On the weekends is when this car really shines, has enough power and grunt to keep me happy through the twisties, as well as on an autoX course.
Fun and useful car.
This car is pretty much what I expected; fun and practical. I've driven Subaru's in the snow before, and this one should be just as good (fun). My old one was an Outback sport with a 142hp engine. The 165hp in this car is a very welcome improvement. It can move. Trust me. And I haven't even gotten it over 4k rpm yet (still in the 1000 mile break in period). The styling is much better than the 03 models. This car is also a lot more solid than the older (pre 2002) Imprezas. The exterior and interior seem to have moved up a notch in quality. Plastics aren't as cheap. The doors shut with a nicely muffled thud.
ELITE CAR
THE BEST SPORTS CAR EVER MADE ITS EVEN FASTER WITH MODS
WRB
Love the car, is a blast to drive, performance is awesome, styling is great, plenty of aftermarket parts available
Sleeper Wagon, able and quick
The engine, once in the power band, is raw power, serious, and breathless. The boxer flat-four gives a unique engine sound reminiscent of the traditional Porsche 911. With AWD, handling is phenomenal. Performance outperforms price and other cars in similar price range. In fact, the performance rivals that of cars priced far higher! Overall, for the price of such a playful, demonic little sport wagon, I am extremely happy with the purchase. Highly recommended for those wanting a genuinely high- performing sports car with the skill to do the tasks of small SUVs!
