Decent car but I must've gotten a lemon
Everything was fine up until 80K. No expenses other than normal maint. After 80K things started to go wrong. The front springs broke ($1800). I found out that '95 Sentras had a recall due to defective springs but my 94.5 Sentra was not covered (go figure?). Thermostat broke, no heat ($165), oil leaks developed in 3 places (head, main seal and oil pressure sending unit). All together I put about $3200 into the car over a period of 1 year.
Good Qualtiy
I bought my Sentra new in 1994. I have always maintained at or before factory recommendations. My Sentra currently has 230,000 miles on it and still runs great. With the exception of an alternator and CV joints haven't had too many problems. I change the brakes regularly (which are cheap) so haven't had to replace rotors yet. Great little car; I plan to hit 250,000 this year.
like a good pair of boots
have driven the car across the continent (Florida to Alaska) while getting an average of 40-43 mpg with the backseat and trunk fully loaded. the car did very well surviving the Yukons not-so-friendly roads (potholes, dips, washboard, sometimes very steep). i would definately recommend this car to anyone on a budget or someone who just wants a functional car that gets you from A to B (that would be me).
Very Reliable
I bought this car when it was a year old and I have had it since. I did real bad with maintenance but the thing just keeps running. Just recently I replaced 146,000 mile drive belts. Not because I was having problems with it...I was just concerned that they were so old. After 100,000 miles things started breaking: Battery, water pump, thermostat, rotors, pads, and calipers. I think this is good conssidering that one of my friends have Dodge Neons and they had to replace the head gasket at 20,000 miles and another one had to replace his Grand Prix water pump at 60,000.
Reliable Car
This car is very reliable, I bought it in 99 and it has been very good to me ever since,we are getting a new car in February, but guess what? I love my Sentra so much that we are keeping her and having two cars!
