Mitsubishi Mirage G4 for Sale

The Mirage G4 is the sedan version of the subcompact Mirage hatchback (reviewed separately). It's a few inches longer and has a conventional trunk, but otherwise it's mechanically identical to the hatchback. That means it's powered by the same anemic 76-horsepower three-cylinder engine. It's fine for commuting around town, but on the highway you'll wish you had more ponies under the hood. The Mirage G4's interior is cramped and meets the bare minimum expectations of a modern new car. You do get standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, which lets you integrate your smartphone into the touchscreen.

The Mirage has a few other redeeming qualities as well. The tiny sedan returns good fuel economy, up to 41 mpg on the highway with the continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT). Mitsubishi also offers a generous 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty and a five-year/60,000-mile basic warranty. Then, of course, there's the car's low starting price.

But our take is that the cons outweigh the pros on this diminutive Mitsubishi. If you're in the market for a low-priced set of wheels, we encourage you to check out the Hyundai Accent, Kia Rio and Nissan Versa since they're not much more expensive and are more enjoyable to drive.

Which Mirage G4 does Edmunds recommend?

"Recommend" is such a strong word, but if you already have your heart set on a Mirage G4, get the base ES model to keep the price as low as possible. That's the only trim you can get with the five-speed manual transmission, though the optional CVT automatic gets better mileage. It's not much, but it'll get you where you need to go on the cheap.

2022 Mitsubishi Mirage G4 models

The 2022 Mitsubishi Mirage G4 is available in ES, LE, Black Edition and SE trim levels. Each includes a 1.2-liter three-cylinder engine producing 76 horsepower and 74 lb-ft of torque. A five-speed manual transmission is offered only with the ES trim. A continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT) is optional with the ES trim and standard on other versions of the car.
