Nice car but engine/transmission issues

Great car and ride but around 3500 miles developed what many reviews and discussion forum posts have noted-a "missing" or jerking feeling on acceleration as well as running, hard to tell if it is the engine or the transmission. Two visits to dealer, they say they don't notice it, I've been driving long enough to know when an engine is running rough. Some say it is a software issue, it seems Kia itself does not know how to solve it. To some it might not be noticeable or annoying. Update: 8,000 miles. Still love the car. It still jerks on acceleration but you learn to live with it. That's just the way it is. Brakes are VERY touchy, even other drivers notice it, especially at low speeds, you have to be very careful on the brake pedal. The radio controls are maddening. Scrolling through the touch screen it's easy to "select" a station instead of scrolling past it.

2019 Kia Sorento SX Limited 4dr SUV (3.3L 6cyl 8A)

Kia might not be the top of mind brand just yet, but do not overlook the Sorento. It's a 'just right' size, gets very competitive fuel economy. The SX-L is very luxurious inside with the nappa leather and attractive trim. The 'electronics' are easy to learn and actually seem way more intuitive than that of the 'other brands'. Very quiet and comfortable ride (the top of line Michelin tires on the SX-L help this a lot). I've had this for 15,000 miles now (first review was at 10k), including all day 12 hour trips, and comfort is excellent....matching my other near luxury Avalon. The 10yr. warranty seals the deal for me....I keep cars a long time. Just one caution....the 3rd row is a joke in just about ALL SUV's in this size range. For occasional use for childen only. I'm old now, so the 3rd row will be folded permanently in my Sorento. Most liked features: the adaptive cruise control, the stereo, and the LED headlights which are very bright and 'aim' around turns. Nav system is just so-so, and considering that they want $150 for a map update, this should be excellent...but it is NOT. POI finds are unreliable, and routing on local streets sometimes puzzling. Bluetooth phone system works great. An update from my first review....sometimes the transmission is a little slower to downshift than I'd like. Apparently this is a common complaint when you have so many gears (8 on this model). Second update....coming up to 2 years and 20,000 miles....still love the vehicle. Nothing has gone wrong...ie NO repairs needed. No regrets on the choice. Regarding the smart cruise control...Love it, can't imagine ever buying a car without it now. Makes driving so much easier AND Safer at the same time. 3rd Update....still loving it. Have not driven much due to covid restrictions keeping us home. One item of discontent was the NAV system. Guess what..Kia just revamped it...now offering FREE updates to map and the software....just do a 30 gig download to an SD card, mine took 6 hours on my slow internet. Then UPDATE in the car...that took about 30 minutes...and now I am MUCH happier with the nav system operation, and of course I have 3 years newer maps too. Nice job Kia. Update March 2021...coming close to 3 years of ownership. Covid caused very little driving in the past year, so I'm only up to 22,500 miles. Did have one failure...the left 'dynamic bending light' feature failed. Left light got stuck aimed far left of center. Despite initial hesitation from the dealer, they did replace at no cost to me. Good thing....you'll discover that parts cost a LOT. The entire headlight assembly, being LED and containing several 'aiming' servos....costs $1100!!! Plus labor. SO...technology is great, as long as it is working. Otherwise, it's still a great vehicle. This 2019 seems to be the 'sweet spot'....since they deleted some high end features on the 2020. Older models did not have all the safety technology that this one does. If you find a good used one...buy it. Has all the modern technology. Update 2021 October: now have 27,000 miles, and all is good...actually Better than ever. I had been complaining to the dealer about the transmission...slow downshifts, delays in response. Well...they now have a 'transmission logic update'...kind of a recall. They update the computer system, for free, during my last oil change, and Wow..it's like a different vehicle...all for the better. Snappy downshifts and it GOES. Now feels like the peppy V6 that is was supposed to be. I also sense it goes into a higher gear sooner, so I think the fuel economy has improved a bit too. So if yours is slow in shifting...ask about the recall....it think the number is SA387 (just going by memory). Overall...a very fine vehicle. Update April 2022.....still loving this vehicle. The previously mentioned Transmission code update made this a whole new and Better vehicle. With the improved shift points, I think I'm getting at least one, maybe 2 MPG better now. On casual country drives, the computer regularly reports 27 mpg for the outing (60 miles or so of sightseeing in the country). I think that's pretty good for this now powerful V6. If you want a Sorento...the 2019 model year is the one to look for. Update; Oct. 2022 still running great. Granted I only have 34,000 miles on it, due to reduced travel during covid, but it has been flawless....ie. nothing has broken. If you come across a used 2019...give it serious consideration. Our's is loaded with all the new electronic safety features, and thus it is current in features with the 2022's. A great vehicle for it's class. > Update Apr 2023. coming up on 5 years since purchase, but due to covid and now retirement, not that many miles....just 39,000. Vehicle has been flawless. NO repairs. I continue to love this vehicle. Gets decent milage too. Very comfortable even on 12 hour long haul days. HIGHLY recommend this model year and trim level...it has everything that has become common in the way of electronic safety assists...Kia was ahead of the times in that regard. Update Apr 2024. I am retired so not driving as much as most people, so just have 48,000 miles on it. It's a delight to drive, regularly gets >26mpg on highway driving. Everything works...except occasionally the 'dynamic bending lights' icon lights up indicating a system test failure. The lights work just fine, they just don't follow the 'aim' when steering around a turn. This happens maybe 60% of the time. Can't explain it, doesn't really matter so not doing anything about it...I don't need the 'bending' / aiming left/right feature since I don't drive much at night. Overall...a great vehicle. WOULD definitely buy again.

Our Kia Sorento saved our lives

My mom recently bought a 2019 Kia Sorento LX and immediately fell in love. Sadly, the Sorento came to a very sudden, sad death, when a truck pulled out in front of us causing us to t bone it. Totaling both vehicles. I’m giving this Sorento 5 stars on safety because if it wasn’t for its AMAZING safety features we possibly wouldn’t have been alive today. Thank you Kia.

2019 Kia Sorento much better than in the past

We buy a new car every 10 years & wanted all the new safety features which this has. The computer screens were very user friendly unlike the Honda and Toyota, which made a difference. The Nappa leather seats are softer than the standard leather. The driver's seat also has a seat extender if needed (may not be in all trims?) The pick up is fine and all the safety features are easy to set, understand and get accustomed to. The size is nice, it's smaller than the Highlander & Pilot (so it is easier to park) and bigger than the CRV & Rav 4. No CD player on the SXL trim so I ripped 75 of mine onto a 8 GB flash drive and use it all the time. The 10 year warranty gives piece of mind. Until the self driving cars come out, this will be one of our main modes of transportation.

Buyer beware! My husband and I both leased new Kia's in August. My Sorento needs a new transmission at less than 6 months old and at 4,000 miles. We are being told the transmission should arrive on March 10th.. In the meantime I am paying a car payment on a car I don't have (at this point it is 11 days). If (big if) my car is done on time that means it will be there for 35 days! We have spoken with Randy Chacon (Kia consumer affairs lead escalated case) with no resolution. I have told Randy that I would like my car replaced with a comparable vehicle or a lease termination and refund. Randy is basically beating around bush without actually saying they will not do either. He would like to "look into some type of good will". Really not interested in "good will" at this point. My family learned a valuable lesson about Kia and how much they value their customers.

Yes Honda Toyota owners Kia has got your daddy now. Many moons ago before 2016 Kia was a little bit less reliable than Honda or Toyota. However Kia and Hyundai got together and made safety and reliability their core issues. Now we have a option between Toyota Honda and now Kia! While resale value for some reason still remains a problem. Overall for my dollar I would rather have more safety options and better equipment for less money then buying a Honda or Toyota. Kia can be had for the price of a used car brand new. So it's a no-brainer to go with Kia and also you get a awesome warranty far better than Honda and Toyota. The Kia Sorento has room and a very good engine in the V6 I highly recommend it in the LX 2019 version. Also I have noticed some people getting rather high mileage estimates like 200,000 out of the 2.4 liter low in model Kia Sorento 2019 so it's a no-brainer to go with Kia and also you get a awesome warranty far better than Honda and Toyota. the Kia Sorento has room and a very good engine in the V6 I highly recommend it in the LX 2019 version. Top Kia top sellers right now are the Forte, the Sorento, and of course the all new Stinger , Telluride and don't forget the little Kia Niro. I think the days of Kia bashing are over go test drive and you will see. If you do homework it's now a good car company. Things change. UPDATE: I did a lot of research before buying this car. I had had a Sonata with the V6 engine and really fell in love with the performance and gas mileage it got. I did not like the Toyota RAV or any of the other four cylinder SUVs being offered. I have so much room in the back I can take my whole house on vacation. I also have room if I needed to haul eight people. I get 30 miles per gallon City and 35 to 38 on trips. I can get up to 125 mph in about 15 seconds. Love the handling of this vehicle. I bought it used with only 19,000 miles I now have 40,000 trouble-free miles. I highly recommend the V6 in the Sorrento. I think like quit making it in 2020 because of the Telluride

I bought this car and loved it!! After 1000 miles, it started being jerky when starting out and slowing down. Brought it back to the dealer 5 times. The dealer had a "transmission expert" flown in from KIA. After 6 weeks I was emailed a poorly put together emailed from Kia corporate. It said that all 2019 Kia Sorentos with the new 8 speed tranny all exhibit this jerky operation and they would not fix it, buy it back or trade it for a different model. After consulting with a lawyer, I found that I would just trade it in for a different make car. Cost me a bunch of money. I hear there is a lawsuit being put together for this. I have never been so poorly treated by a car manufacturer. Never again!!

A Vast Improvement Over Other Cars

This car is great for a lot of reasons, but I got it for a way to escape the cost of an RV, and still be able to sleep two people confortably. Of note is the quiet, smooth ride and descent mileage despite the V6 we bought. Great mileage at 24 mph for a heavy car with a 6 cylinder engine. We have driven 13,000 miles without a single complaint.

great way to travel quite, smooth, and above all safe. Seats are very comfortable, V6 and 8 speed so smooth you never feel a shift. The harmon kardon surround sound stereo is better than most home systems. Third seat is tight but works in a pinch. Love the Hugh sunroof keeps it light inside. The smart cruse is great and the lane assists keeps you on tract if you look away from the road for a second. Lots of load space with the second and third row sets closed. Did comparison drives with other suvs in same category. Most have I4s some turbocharged but the V6 is by far the smoothest quietest engine of the group. don't take my word do you own test run and compare as i did I am sure you will agree with me after you compre.

This car gets a lot of complements. We do the high school teen car pools, and one thought it was a Mercedes until she got out and saw it was a Kia. No joke. We got the SX model, which is similar to the loaded EX model with the large sunroof. Truly excellent. It's a little slow compared to my Infiniti sports car but my wife doesn't notice. Not sure about the transmission posts but those are probably fake as it's seemingly perfect. There are five drive modes, I usually pick "Sport" but my wife picks "Comfort." Also, we got this after my daughter totaled our Honda Pilot and I wanted the safest vehicle so she would be safe. This comes with every safety feature possible, which even the Volvo we were looking at didn't have many of the safety options. Anyhow, we get a ton of complements on it when people are inside. Outside, well, it's a Kia, which is fine by us.

Built tough yet Comfy ride and interior

Was hit by another car when my 2019 Sorento was 3 mos. Old. It slammed me into a curb breaking my wrist on the spinning steering wheel, then ricocheted into the bumper of the van in front of me. Not only needing surgery for a complete break but also seat belt bruises tells you how hard I was hit. My car had severe steering and suspension damage but limped home. Everything was fixable. The 2 year old Malibu that slammed me blew both front airbags & the side curtain bag. It was damaged in the front and leaking. I'm guessing it was totaled after hitting the other curb bouncing off me. I feel that my Sorento was built strong and tough. It may have saved me from more serious injuries. The 3rd row seat is useless with no leg room unless you have child car seats and toddlers or younger. The rear air conditioning is weak being behind the 2nd row seats. After 4 years those are my only negative remarks. I get very good gas mileage for a car this size. The ride is better than most SUVs I've been in (I have a 25 yr. Old back injury) and overall I really really like my car & feel safe in it. As for the 2nd seat AC, I found that there was a small vent between the 1st row seats that had been turned off either by my niece or my dog jumping!!!! Sorry! No breakdowns or repairs, only maintenance. Highly recommend.

I love my Sorento, but one thing I discovered this winter is.......you cannot start the Sorento to warm it up and let it run. You cannot let it run and get out and lock the doors. Who wants to let their car run and leave it unlocked. One of the dumbest things any car maker could do. I have heard so many others complain of the same thing. They live in apt. Complex and cannot let their car warm up before going to work and leave it unlocked to get stolen. Also, if the car is taken it will not quit until it runs out of gas or the thief turns it off, even if you have the keys and it is out of range from the key fob. How dumb is that!!!!!! The dealership said I could get a remote start put on....over $500 and then I would have to have 2 key fobs. I do love the Sorento, had I known I couldn’t warm it up in the winter and lock it, I would have gone with another vehicle.

Year two now and I am not backing down from my claim of 'best bang for the buck in this vehicle class! Handling, power and most of the goodie options have been used and I don't have one complaint. Packed to the hilt with golf clubs, their push carts, gifts and luggage for extended periods and performance was handled without a hitch. My last review contained comparisons of similar products before I purchased the KIA. I did my homework and it paid off. This Sorento will be in the family for a long long time...

I have a KIA 2019 Sorrento XLS . I like the car fine except for the transmission. It does not shift smoothly. When acceleration from a low speed it is very jerky, almost like it is slipping. I had dealer look at and they said it was fine. I am not pleased with this aspect of my KIA.

Make sure you don't pay too much. We bought the vehicle at $25,490 all in, incl. tax. For that price you get an awesome vehicle that seats 7. We have a family of 6 so we can still flip down one of the seats in the 3rd row and have enough storage for our family. You might find that storage is limited if you really need to seat 7. But to get an SUV at this price that seats 7 is hard to beat! The 2.4L engine is OK and does the job. Some say skip this engine and go with the V6 but it will cost you more and your fuel economy goes down as well. We were originally looking at the CRV and Santa Fe XL, but the CRV does not come with the 3rd row and the Santa Fe XL does but is more expensive. We love the quality of the Sorento and you can't beat the warranty either. A very nice vehicle we hope to enjoy for many, many years.

The Kia Sorento is a spacious vehicle. We are a family of five and we can fit the kids and all their stuff comfortably. We have two teenagers so having three usb ports is perfect. No more fighting about who gets to charge their phone. The dash and instrumentation lighting is really sleek and it feels and looks like a luxury SUV.

Horrible vehicle almost got my family killed due to transmissions issues on the freeway less than 12,000 miles. Took the car with issues less than 4 months after purchasing the vehicle I was driving car just shut off lights on dashboard started going on and off until car just shut oof completely did not start after 30 minutes. Dealer stated they couldn’t find any faults since engine light wasn’t on there was no way on tracing the problem. Car was purchased may/19 toook to the dealer 0ct/19 second visit 2/20 car continues to jerk was going up hills slowly felt like in every stop someone was hitting me in the back. Ended up with burn oil on transmission and bad transmission after almost killing my self and my family on the freeway had to switch to the right lane cause car stop acceleration almost a truck hit us my mother was screaming I was able to move the car to the emergency lane and the truck driver stop to help us. Was a horrible and terrified situation having kids in the car as well. I contact BBB and also consumer Kia they gave the run around I took the car for the 3rd time in March because after picking up the car from the dealer and having the car sitting in my driveway I did not drive the car but the only day I drive the car to the supermarket cause was the only car available car still had the same issues. That’s when I call Kia again come to find out looking at the papers they put a used transmission on a car with less than 12000 miles. They said on that last time they were missing a sensor and reset the transmission again! I had a aneurysm in my brain this car has cost my health to go down hill very badly after February my neurologist prescribed me aimovig and I couldn’t afford it so every day I have the worse headaches ever since all this mess. I sent the corporate a certified letter they said they’ve never received the letter and of course that’s very convenience for them. They didn’t want to help me o sent them all the papers they asked me for. I was nice dealing with them but at the end not help. We decided to just turn in the car instead of continue to make payments on a car that was supposed to be safe and realizable for our family. It was just a complete nightmare!

Still trouble free after 16 months

Sorento SX 2019 review after one year and three months Some people put reviews of their car after only a few days or weeks. On my side I prefer waiting a little more to give a better review based on usage and time. This is my first Kia ever. All I have to say is I am blown away by the incredible buit quality This vehicle has. No rattle no cracking noise. Just as solid as it was the first day I bought it. I still enjoy it just as much as I purchased it the first day. I have never had any issues with it. I have 36,000 km on it and it just feels like coming out of the dealership. I read many reviews here and most people seem to comment on the poor 8 speed transmission’s reliability for being jerky and poor shifting. All I have to say on my side is since the first day I bought the vehicle it always gave me 100% satisfaction. Never did I feel some jerky feeling from the transmission or poor shifting. However I have a recommendation for people who seem to feel that jerky feeling. Try premium gasoline. Personally when I drove my car with regular gasoline I could feel some hesitation. This hesitation makes you feel like it’s the transmission that could be problematic. But in fact when I switch to premium gasoline it definitely made a huge difference. I drove the car with regular gasoline for over six months till I switched to premium. What a difference! Before judging the transmission try at least premium gasoline. For your information since the car seem to burn fuel better with premium gasoline I believe I save half a litre per kilometre in consumption. There was a time where I would make 10.1L/100 km but now I’m more likely in the 9.6 L /100 Km. Yes you pay a little more but you save a little bit on the other hand. Ben from Boisbriand QC

We bought the EX V-6 AWD. Which is the only way to go in my opinion. Love the car. Very attractive. Perfect size for a family of 4. Nice to have a 3rd row in a pinch, but usually just use the space for groceries & stuff. Engine has adequate power. I feel we got a lot for our money. Very happy so far. We've had the Sorento 6 months now & still love it. Update- we've had the Sorento almost 2 years now. Have not had any problems. Oil changes & tire rotations. That's it. Still really like the size of it. I'm 6 ' 7" & I fit comfortable in it with my wife & two kids. The safety features are nice. Safety & reliability is why we bought a Kia, & it lives up to our expectations. Definitely get the V6. It's not impressive, but adequate. I couldn't imagine how slow the 4 banger would be. AWD is the only way to go living in Minnesota. We plan to keep this vehicle at least 10 years. So I can update again in a few years. 2 years & 24,000 miles later & not a single problem. I'm a Kia fan for life !

If you are a car-snob, the Kia is not for you, however if you want a reliable, safe, comfortable car to transport e.g. a five and three year old around a city, it's perfect. The Kia is so peppy I often don't notice I'm going 80mph on the freeway because it drives so smooth. I also carpool back and forth to a magnet school about 18 miles from us, so needed an option to fit two extra children, and the kids all fight about who gets to sit in the back, they love it back there. We don't plan any extremely long trips with this car, or any camping, so I did not buy the car for cargo space (though there is plenty). The all-wheel drive is nice to have! For what I use it for, the Kia Sorento is an extremely smooth ride on the highway and around the city. Great Value for Money!

Over the years. I have owned many SUVs, but my Kia was such a pleasant surprise when I first bought it. For the cost, the vehicle came loaded, The safety elements of the vehicle make it easier to drive. On a recent trip from Florida to the Northeast, I had no issues with my back, which has always been a problems, got great mileage and allowed for great vision of all the surroundings. I can’t wait for my next trip.

I never wanted a Kia. Period. Let’s start there. My wife and I had wanted a long distance cruiser with AWD and third row seating. We looked at Subaru, GM, Jeep, and other. One night we left the Dodge dealer, and pulled across the lot to the attached Kia dealership. I then realized I had not looked at the Kia brand lately. When I had paid attention to them, they were underpowered, low end vehicles. I love being wrong. I bought my first Sorento that night after a test drive. It hit almost all the right notes. I bought a base model that had been custom ordered with several custom upgrades, like CarPlay and UVO. The downsides were the 4 cylinder and the FWD. it always felt like that car strained a bit going up the Grapevine pass (I’m picky, and like my long range car to have a wide powerband). So after a year in the first Sorento, I went by the dealer for service, and ended up talking to the first guy who sold me a car, who mentioned a special financing deal. As it turned out, he had a beautiful 2019 Sorento S AWD V6...oh yeah. At the year mark with the 2019 Sorento, it’s pretty solid. Just finished a transcontinental drive from California to Georgia and back. It flies. It feels like it stays exactly where you want to put it, with very precise stressing and control in corners, as long as you watch your speed. I have felt the rear end get a bit loose...but I’m not entirely sure that wasn’t me trying to make it happen... :) The interior is comfortable, at least the front two rows. I wish the S had dual front power seats, but the drivers side is what you get. My kids fight over the third row, but it’s not really for adults, except on short (30 minutes max) trips. I totally recommend this car. It’s perfect for a family of 3-4, will carry them plus luggage comfortably. It also gets 22.4 mpg at 90mph...in theory.

Test drive the car you want to buy look and listen to the engine to make sure you are not buying bad car, After regular maintenance for your car make sure look under the hood of your car check the oil level check any leaking or anything different before leaving the service, Asian cars last long as long you follow the regular maintenance and look after the job they did because some mechanics are tricky/abusive. (2019 Kia sorento beautiful car inside and out plus 10 year warranty)

I rented this 2019 Sorento with 30K on it from Enterprise. While driving it from Michigan to California, the battery light came on and all of the electronics shot off. The brakes quit working and the power steering also quit. We were in the middle of no where and didn't expect a new car to have this problem. And no it wasn't caused by the battery because after we pulled over for 10 minutes and the car ran again until the next enterprise location. Very unrealiable for what year and miles it was in.

I bought the 2019 Sorento with 7 miles on it.... yes 7 in April however 2 weeks later it was in for service for problems with breaks and rotors, computer problem while driving rpms would get stuck at 5 both up and down hills. If you do a lot of driving in stop and go traffic don’t buy this car the transmission jerks and hesitates making it feel unsafe. Spend the same amount money on a suv with a third vehicle and feel safe.

We had a 2019 Kia Sorento SX v6. Great space, options, power and technology. However, after a year, the engine started to hesitate during acceleration between 40-60 mph. Reviews indicate that is a transmission problem that Kia is aware of this but there is not a solution yet. Took then car to Kia Archer in Houston and their horrible service team told me that I have to leave the car for a week for revision. I made the decision to sell it. Be careful when buying this cars used.

Pros Fits 7 people and has a good backup camera and blind spot alarm. Apple car play is great. I like the trip odometer automatically resetting to zero each day. Cons There are serious problems with the transmission or engine misfire, especially when trying to drive at 25-30 mph, as is stutters back and forth. Stuttering is also very notable when accelerating. Usually skips a half second between shifts on acceleration onto the highway. Seats, at least as equipped, are uncomfortable for drives of more than 30 minutes or so, as the back support is fixed, and can't move down to the lumbar. Passenger seat is manual with no height adjustment, so my wife complains she can't see out the windshield. As driver, my left knee hits the steering column and my right one hits the dash at the AC control panel. A telescopic wheel would make a big difference. Very large blind spot created by left "A" pillar. My wife complains that the front doors are two heavy, and usually asks for help to open them. Annoyingly loud turn signals at stop lights and high road noise at highway speeds. When third row of seats are up, there is very limited luggage space (4 children's boogie boards and a bag of towels - beach chairs had to stay home).

get the 6 cylinder engine, if you are getting a newer year then get the Turbo. It is a nice size SUV and everything works, this is my 10th KIA/Hyundai and I don't think you can get more for the money. 3/13/2022: everything on the SUV works, I looked for six months to find a six cylinder with cloth seats, found it and bought it. I know everyone want leather seats, I don't like hot sticky leather in the summer and cold hard leather in the winter. I had 6 previous cars with leather seats and grew to hate them. The 6-cylinder engine is very good and does not seem to contaminate the oil, in other words when I went in for an oil change the service people said the oil was new, I told them it was 6,000 miles old. They finally agreed to change the oil. I use synthetic oil.

2019 Sorento Engine Issues - BUYER BEWARE!

I purchased a brand new 2019 Kia Sorento in April of 2020. Less than 50 miles on it. I went with this model specifically because of the ratings from US News and World Report and this site. HOW IN THE WORLD IS IT RATED #1??? The engine and transmission are constantly malfunctioning. I have a complete malfunction at less than 4000 miles. Unreal. I bought it for the ratings and price, specifically the safety ratings. There is NO SAFETY when your car stalls in the middle of the road as a brand new vehicle. There is a class action lawsuit on this car - google it. I cannot believe the rank knowing that. Read other bad reviews - they all say the same engine/transmission issue under 4,000 miles. Service is slow and terrible. I'm hopeful my warranty will save me until I can get it traded in. Don't buy this vehicle!

Bought a brand new 2019 sorento, the heated seats kept coming on by itself! When it's 95 degrees and Seats heat up that's no fun. The heated steering wheel also comes on time to time. I have taken it in several times and they keep saying they don't find a problem. Then the warning for forward collision system, auto hold and other lights keep coming on. Took it in again, they give me excuses as it's my imagination, I tell them when I am stopped at stoplight or stop sign it feels like something pushing the brakes further. Finally they find that the heck u system, part of the computer that controls the brakes and other components has to be replaced, it's a 2000.00 part! Thank goodness it's under warranty! I still think they should replace my vehicle!

I purchased the vehicle brand new in 2019 somewhat impulsively because I needed a vehicle that could easily tow 3500-5000 lbs. This seemed to garner positive reviews, had most of the features from my previous vehicle (2017 Accord Coupe Touring) and was the only manufacturer offering 0% financing at the time. It was also the lowest price vehicle of the alternatives that met my need, albeit still over $50,000 (Cdn). I commute about 180 kms a day, 3-4 times per week. I feel safe in the vehicle in highway traffic, it handles snow and slippery conditions very well (with properly equipped winter tires) and the driving assist features are helpful in stop and go traffic. The vehicle is comfortable and well designed. Mine has the nappa leather with ventilated seats which I like when I'm commuting in a suit on hot days. It is not a sexy vehicle, it has a generic appearance that is already looking outdated. I'm surprised at the number of door dings, scratches, paint chips that have amassed in my two years of ownership. My previous Honda vehicles stood up much better. I was also disappointed with the front plastic nose piece which cracked quite easily and severely after a piece of tire tread hit it on the highway. Overall, the vehicle's body and paint do not seem to match the quality of more established Japanese competitors. The driving dynamics are bland. To be fair, I wasn't expecting much nor did I purchase the vehicle for this reason. However, I do find the engine to be sluggish and hesitant. This was not the case at first and I only noticed this after agreeing to the dealership's recommended fuel service. I was assured these GDI engines require this service regularly. If this is true, then so be it - but it seems too coincidental that my engine started to feel sluggish after getting the service. I've had many problems with my steering. It almost feels like I have a broken belt in my front tires. I've changed the tires between seasons and rotated them periodically, that's not the problem. It is a consistent feeling but the dealer won't acknowledge the issue. But they did recommend an alignment to address the issue. I agreed and no difference. The cost of maintaining this vehicle is high compared to my previous vehicles and my other vehicle (which is a 2019 Mercedes). I find the dealer pushes maintenance on a schedule that does not align with the schedule set out in the Owner's Manual. I recognize this is a dealer related issue but adds to my frustration in owning the vehicle. I know Kia is becoming a highly popular brand and the styling seems to be quite nice in the newer Sorento and other models but I've declined the many, many attempts to get me to trade in my current vehicle for something newer. I am paying the car off aggressively and will be trading it in on something more predictable - likely an MDX/Pilot.

to me the 2019 Kia was a little too big, i don't care for the 3rd. row seat, it's a great SUV for a growing family
