2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee Consumer Reviews

Is This a Jeep??
I was hesitant to even test drive a Jeep after how rough a couple of mid- 2000s my family had driven, but I was blown away and was made a respectable offer. In my humble opinion, it so much better than my test drives with a Subaru Forester (Touring Trim) and Honda Pilot (EX-L). I've been very surprised at how smooth and quiet my '23 Jeep GC has been. Truly has a luxury car feel with the Overland trim: ventilated/heated/massage front seats, heads up display, and passenger screen. It reminds me a lot of my 2017 BMW 530i that had all the bells and whistles. So far, it's maintained about 21.5 MPG while driving moderately hard on about 60% highway (would obviously be a lot higher if it weren't insane bumper to bumper rush hour traffic.) Stellantis has done impressive things with Ram trucks, and so far, I'd have to say they've had the magic touch with the Jeep Grand Cherokee.

A Convoluted Mess
I rented this vehicle for a week and at first I thought it was a good upgrade. But after 900 miles of driving I can only give this car 2 stars . The engine is fairly smooth and responsive and starts on first button push. The remote tailgate works well but a little slow. The Bad - First the power leather seats with lumbar support are too stiff to be comfortable for more than an hour sitting. The seat warmers work great but they actually get too hot, even on low after 10 minutes. Can't they moderate the low setting? The vehicle doesn't track very well. It handles more like my 2001 Isuzu Trooper and you'll find yourself correcting the track on simple freeway driving. My 10-year old Kia Sorento handles better. But the kicker is the dash layout and infotainment system. No one can tell me that much rational engineering went into this layout. You find yourself fumbling for buttons and screen choices. Why do you have to go to the screen for syncing the temperature left & right. And adjusting the temperature on the manual controls is prehistoric, worst I've ever seen. And you have no idea where the air will be directed. There are buttons above the radio to control automatic engine shutoff, lane warning and other functions but because if their angle they are hard to see. Finally the instrument cluster looks like pure cobbled garbage. I can't even describe how stupid it looks it makes me think Chinese engineers who write nonsensical instruction manuals designed it. Oh - and no dedicated steering wheel radio buttons unless you are switched to that display on the panel - yet still no volume control. Jeep needs to hire some mature designers and not rush out a mish mash.

Big upgrade from my 4Runner
Made the switch from 2013 4Runner (great car and my son now drives it) to Grand Cherokee since no new 4Runners currently for sale and bare bones Land Cruiser was almost 50% more than a Limited GC. Land Cruiser interior is almost all hard plastics—Toyota jacking up prices while going cheaper on materials. Happy with the Jeep so far. It’s got awesome value, great features on the Limited and the UConnect has been great. I’m 6’3” and like that it is nimble to drive but has plenty of room for me (with grown kids I don’t need a 3 row SUV). Mileage so so but that’s been the only con so far; when they upgrade to Hurricane engine that will be fixed. Overall very happy and surprised Jeep doesn’t give the press Limited examples to drive so they can see how great an option it is at the price point. I do wish Jeep would offer 4Lo on Limited package but that’s just a suggestion not a deal breaker.
