New vehicles aren't always the best
ok, I bought this car back in April and it hasn't been anything else but trouble. I've been to the dealer 3 times to have the windwhield changed (twice) and to have a whining noise fixed that was coming from the front end of the vehicle. They still haven't fixed the problem so it is just one big joke. It was good for its price, but hope it wont fall apart.
Couldn't be happier with my selection!
I don't think i could have selected a more suitable car. this car is fantastic. i get 2nd looks on the street and get asked, "is...is that...a HYUNDAI?!" hehehe. versatile, comfortable and mated to the 5-speed create a great combination to make this car fun to drive!
Test Drive and Buy
I purchased this car after having an American made pick up truck. After getting used to the much smaller size, I quickly realized just how fun this car is to drive! The GT has great pick up and an extremely comfortable interior. The functionality of the controls is superb and the quality has been great. I would highly recommend this vehicle to anyone looking for an economical alternative to the American made vehicles. Test drive the car and be prepared to buy!
A solid bargain and eye-catching at that
When you tell people it is a Hyundai, they still raise their eyebrows... "really? a Korean car. Well, I drive lots of miles and I love the car. The 5sp manual gives it a sporty feel, and the quality is very sound. The only reason I wouldn't recommend it is because once a person breaks the mental barriers to driving what seems to be an econo vehicle, and you drive it, you won't want to pay for the toyota, nissan or subaru name; my vehicle won't seem such a special car on the road. I think it is a winner over entry level cars in these other brands as well as volvo or even mercedes c-class (really, who wants a rwd car- unless you want to pay for the emblem).
Cool Car, Cool Price
I have had my car for over a year and I am pretty happy with it. I have honestly been thinking about upgrading to a Jetta, but every time I think about it, I have to remind myself that I get more bells and whistles for a fraction of the cost. I have a fully equipped GT and love the idea of leather, fog lights, traction control/ ABS, moon roof, alloy wheels, etc. for about $7K less than the Jetta. I also love the hatchback styling and versatility. Of course, this is kind of like comparing apples to oranges, however.
just drive one
I've owned my 5-speed GT for 9 months, and I'm still smiling. At 14,000 miles, I've had the car in the shop (dealer) once to repair a leaking power steering hose - covered by warranty. It is amazing how quiet and solid this car feels on the road, compared to the other cars in its class. My wife has a 2000 NEON SE, and she drives my car every chance she can get because it "just drives better," in her words. You get a lot more class than you pay for.
Luv it
I enjoy driving this car. The space is also good, looks, mpg, features. And most of all it was priced very well for all you get.
Going on 5 years and 2 transmissions
One month after purchasing brand new the problems began. Had to arrange multiple visits to dealership for various issues:1 month-check engine light repeatedly on 3 months- rotors had to be cut, new brakes warranty covered as per recall. 5 months-black around Windows and hatchback hinges needed to be replaced. All minor compared to the transmission exploding (pins blew out the side- pics avail) at 31k miles. Not covered in 100k mile warranty because I did not have trans. Fuel changed at 30k as suggested in manual. I compared w/ other vehicle manuals Toyota, Nissan and tran. Fuel change is suggested @ 50k miles. Suggested not required or car would stop running. Now 79k mi. And need new transmission.
Hyundai surprise
I was surprised by the value proposition of this car. It's fun to drive, gets good mileage (my mileage would be better if the car wasn't such fun to drive)and it seems to be very well put-together. And with the 10 year warranty you can't go wrong.
