Love our Pilot
We purchased our 07 in 2010 with 30k miles on it as a Certified Pre-Owned vehicle. It has 82k on it now and has been a wonderful car. I recently did the timing belt and water pump which isn't a cheap maintenance item, but other than that and rear shocks it's needed nothing. Drives like it's brand new and feels like a very expensive car. If I had one complaint it would be lack of storage space behind the third row of seats, which is now a problem since our family has grown from 4 to 6 in the time since we purchased the car! Fortunately we have an Odyssey that has become the default road trip vehicle as it has the extra storage space we need for long adventures. Can't say enough good things about this one though. I do plan on keeping it a long time. Also worth noting: some complain about Honda's use of a timing belt vs. chain. My last vehicle was a 4 cyl 02 Toyota Highlander that used a chain. At about 90k miles the front timing cover started leaking oil and I spent almost $1000 having it re-sealed. Had them replace the chain tensioner while they were in there just for preventive maintenance. When I sold it the car had 170k+ miles on it and that same area was leaking again. What good is a chain if the cover is going to leak oil anyway requiring the same kind of money to be spent as you would to have a belt changed? That's my thinking. No, I'm not crazy about dropping $900-1000 for timing belts every 100k but the point is whether chain (and the like I experienced with mine) or belt, my experience has been that you're going to spend the money regardless. UPDATE: as of 2/08 we still own it. It's an amazing car and I can't say enough good things about it. At 108k all I've done was the timing belt and rear shocks (preventative maintenance) in addition to the usual oil changes, brakes etc. No leaks, no noises, no issues. Reliable, durable, and probably my favorite car of all I've owned.

Satisfied Overall
Went with the 2007 Pilot over the CRV to get extra space as we often total 4 adult passengers, and sometimes more. CRV felt a little tight for 4 tops. Preferred the superior quality of the leather in the Pilot. CRV leather felt thin and has a tufted look, which some may prefer, but we don't. CRV felt somewhat underpowered, but not too bad. No question the Pilot has plenty of power. Overall very pleased with the Pilot. Expecting it will do well in the snow if we get any.

Pilot
We bought our Pilot in July and already have over 14,000 miles on it. We have previously owned civics, accords, and an odyssey. We purchased the Pilot because of the positive track record we have personally experienced with Honda. We have not been disappointed.
2007 Honda Pilot
Bought the pilot new in 2007. My family loves it. Comfortable front and rear seats. The seats in the far back are made for small people- kids. The ride is comfortable and while I won't call it quiet, it is not annoying. This is a good sized SUV and does not handle like a sports car. Since this is a big SUV the gas mileage is not the greatest. I usually get around 15mpg city and 19 mpg on the freeway. Be advised, my little sister (miss speed demon) calls me Mr. Slow poke. I don't have a lead foot. I have had 3 problems. It had have the valves adjusted way before Honda reccomend. The air tube between the air filter and the engine broke where it connected to the engine and the plastic cover on the left side of the driver's seat, where the seat controls are, has broken and now the controls will not work. There is lots of room to haul stuff in this SUV. 12 foot 2x4s, fencing material, bicycles. I also have made use of the roof rack (Christmas tree) and installed a trailer hitch.
DONT BUY THIS SUV
It has failed completely at 105K miles. The radiator failed, draining the coolant into the transmission which would require a complete radiator and transmission replacement - cost around $4000 with rebuilt parts. This is a known issue with the Pilot but only prior years were recalled. There were no indicators, no way to know until the damage was done. Honda unwilling to work with us to resolve. This is an issue that could have been repaired cheaply as a preventive solution by replacing the radiator. The car also had multiple safety recalls while we had it.
