gk's pilot
Excellent truck. Short of a heavy towing need, this is all the utility you need. Great build quality.

so far so good
We traded in our 2002 explorer for this car. The Explorer fell apart LITERALLY so we decided the Pilot gives up all of the comfort of the Explorer with the reliability of a Honda. So far we love it. Very roomy and so much storage. The kids love it as well. Cup holders everywhere for them.
Best choice
I did a lot of research on small size and mid size SUV before I bought the Honda Pilot EX. I test drove and compared all the competition ..., finally I chose Pilot EX. Among them, Pilot is the best of size, power, comfort, look and reliability. Fuel economy is good too, I got 21 MPG on first three tanks break-in period, in condition of 60/40% highway/city drive, A/C always on in Houston hot summer weather. The EX has much more feature than LX model for $1200 bucks.
Great car for a great price
Drives like a car and that's a very good thing. I test drove a 4 runner V8 limited before buying the Pilot and I must say the V8 4runner was a big disappointment to me. The V8 didn't feel very powerful in the 4runner and the truck noise and ride wasn't acceptable to me. The Pilot is simply much more refined and it's so roomy.
Beware of the xm ready feature
One of the best autos I've purchased, with one exception. Honda really scams you on the xm ready radio feature. Myself already a consumer of xm radio I thought all I had to do was get my subscription transferred. Wrong! The xm ready feature means for approx. $600.00 us dollars you have to pay for the hardware you then will be xm ready. Contacted Honda and they really didn't care what I thought. Because I had already purchased my pilot.
Great 8 Passenger Compromise
Our Pilot is a great compromise between a mini-van and a large SUV. We wanted three rows of seating, with enough room in the third to accomodate teens for rides of up to one hour. Handling and ride are car-like, ergonomics are good, interior design is simple and attractive and the vehicle is comfortable for 4-6 persons, at least long enough to get everyone to sports practice. Six-airbag setup was a must and is standard. Mileage with the Pilot is merely OK (17 mpg in town and 24 mpg at a steady 80 mph. If you regularly haul more than 5 for long periods of time, look at a larger minivan instead.
Second Pilot
The only reason why I gave up my '05 Pilot was because of the additional safety features added in '06. I also opted for the Nav as well. The only 2 shortcomings as I see it are lack of "daylight" lights as found in other '06 Hondas and lower gas miles than the '05 I returned. You just can't beat the utility, reliability and fun that the Pilot gives - a perfect family car!
Great Mid Size SUV
My Pilot rides just like a car. Handles well around turns and is a joy to drive. It even gets the MPG it says on the sticker! Great buy.
Love it
Got my SUV 3/06 and I love it. My husband and I are expecting our second child and wanted something with space but didn't want a caravan. This definitely will do the job. Very spacious third row. Second row easily fits 2 car seats with plenty of space. It has great crash testing ratings which was a big factor for me. I can't say enough about this except it was worth every penny.
This is my 6th HONDA! Love Them!!
Love Honda and love this SUV. I was sad when I traded my Accord, but so happy that I did. I do a lot of long distance travel and the ride is as smooth as the Accord and the extra space for transporting items is great.
2006 Pilot LX 2WD
Owned 5 Honda's before this and have always been very satisfied. Drove other similar priced SUVs and the Pilot was the best deal. I have 1400 miles and have been having a loud humming at 35 to 55 mph (comes and goes) since 200 miles. Dealer had no fix until now and is saying they have a temporary fix which is to disconnect the noise cancellation. Others saying they have been down this road with no luck. Either get the 4WD or roll the dice on getting the problem.
Love My Pilot
Can't really complain about much on the Pilot... I have grown to just love the looks of it.It drives great... I see some people mention about feeling big in corners.. uh? its an suv!! I have a sports car for that.. lol Anyways.. Highly recomended if your in the market for an suv to cover all the bases.. style, QUALITY,room,so so gas milage, RESALE!!
My great honda!
I have had my pilot for about 2 months now and I love it! It has plenty of space, and it's pretty comfy for a honda because its my sixth one! One thing I was disappointed about was the sound system, because it sounds boxy. But I'd still recommend it because i like the safety and pretty much everything else about it. I'd like to say that it is a great family vehicle and great for some off roading.
XM radio is AWESOME
Just got this new Pilot. Absolutely love it. The best part is the navigation system and the XM Radio. It is voice activated. You say XM 72 and it takes you straight to XM's awesome JAZZ station. You say XM 175 and it takes you to Baseball talk station. XM radio is AWESOME. You want to eat at a pizza place, you say pizza and it lists all the pizza restaurants in the area. You chose one and it'll give you directions to it if you chose to get them.
Just the facts 01
Ok, bought it on 7 Dec, PH-Day, EX-L RES Silver Pilot. Drives nice, 60 miles, round trip every day. As of 9 Dec 05, 159 miles, 19.27 MPG. More updates to follow. Almost went with the 06 Sienna Limited and Sub B9 7 pas Limited. Needed a good Trooper Limited replacement. Pilot won, looks like SUV, drive like car, FWD so still good in the snow.
XM great, but discount even better
Got a Pilot in Oct and quickly became wife's car. The leather seats are very comfy, but 2nd row curves too much on side. Mileage is 17 in city and 24 on highway (in western Los Angeles). XM is great but pricey. After expired I was offered 50% off. This is the cheapest, Japanese brand, 8-passenger car with leather seats.
Good Choice
This car really offers a lot of content and features for the price. I love the ability to seat 8 people, even if the back seat is a little tight. I am very surprised at how much I enjoy this car and highly recommend it for someone that needs to seat more than 5 and does not want a minivan. The gas mileage around town is better than my Pathfinder. The driving decision for buying the Honda was based on the massive amount of space it provided, plus the Honda reputation for quality.
Just Right
I love this SUV but I'm going to tell you the few things that I didn't like. There's not a key lock on the tailgate. You have to always use the remote to open. It feels like a big car, which means you have it's not as nimble as I would like. There's a lot of windnoise when the crossbars are installed. The driver's side window has an automatic roll up mechanism which seems like a safety hazard to me.
No regrets at all
The Honda Pilot is everything people say about Hondas and then some. The craftsmanship is superb, and I can't find a glitch with this vehicle. Friends and family alike agree that the car handles the road like a sedan, but then you have all of the utility of an SUV. I knew from prior experience that I could not go wrong with a Honda, but I am even more impressed than I expected. The car speaks for itself, because two of my neighbors, one relative, and one co-worker have bought one since I bought mine.
Great SUV
A little shaky on the highway, but an excellent overall SUV. Love it!
Everything is perfect
I was a little afraid buying an SUV with the gas being so expensive but I am pleased we get about 23 mpg average and up to 28 mpg on our weekend trips up to the Poconos. So much room and very quiet. We got a towing package to tow our small pop up trailer for camping . We don't have any problem with towing it unless its raining then the traction is not too hot. I'm pretty sure getting better tires will help.
My 2nd Honda Pilot
Just bought my 2nd Honda Pilot - traded in the 2003 for a 2006. Great car, but the 2003 didn't have all the extras like the moon roof, 6-cd in-dash, etc.
Excellent Choice
Though I've only had it a week we really enjoy this vehicle. We replaced our Volvo XC90 with the Honda Pilot due to high maintainance on the Volvo. The safety features and 5 star crash test for both front and side on the Pilot was a big selling point. In my opinion the Pilot has less wind noise, is more comfortable, has more room and much better visibility than the XC90.
great car
great car....everything feels and fits great....had three ford suv's before the pilot....the pilot excels over the ford product.....drives like a far more expensive car
The Humming Pilot
We really looked forward to purchasing this 2006 Pilot. It is a very nice vehicle; HOWEVER, it has a very loud humming noise w/ vibration coming from the front end. After we have made several trips to the dealer we have found out Honda has this problem with quite a few 2 WD 2006 models. They are unable to identify the problem so we are stuck with a very annoying noise and vibration that comes and goes. Honda's answer " no solution yet". I would discourage anyone from purchasing this vehicle until Honda identifies and comes up with a solution for this.
Best Motor Vehicle in the world
This is perhaps the Best Vehicle I have ever driven in. We always had a Mercedes Benz when I was Younger and I know the Best. It of course was always the Mercedes Benz. Guess who just beat them out of the Best Car in the World Club. You got it! The Honda Pilot. Without hesitation Honda has built a Motor Car second to none, The Price, the quality and the style make Honda the Leader now. I sorry, but Mercedes has a over priced as does BMW or any in the same Class as the Honda for little to offer but a hefty price tag
My wife picked it out!
My wife loves this SUV. We have had a Honda product since 1985. This year she said no Hondas. I picked out 3 SUV's. Grand C, 4 Runner and Pilot, after on-line research and test driving several different ones incl, Volvo, Trailb and Pathf. She picked the PILOT. One of the past complaints was the A/C defrost. Prob solved. The styling was her favorite. The seats are comfortable. The Nav system is tough to get used to, but once used to it works well. The XM trial offer has cvinced me to get it for my other car. With my wife happy,I am very happy, EXCEPT, I think there is an issue with some electronics, in the ignition. The engine shuts down when placed in R. It goes to shop Tues.
Best SUV for any Family
I recently bought a 2006 4WD Pilot EX no leather, and had the Tow Package and roof cross bars added. I test drove the major competitors and found the Pilot to drive the best and provide the best value. Standard Side Curtain Airbags and Stability Control were a must for me. I am over six foot and there is plenty of room in the Pilot for me to be comfortable. I already have driven to the mountains and it drove perfectly even though it was full of people and furniture. The only complaint I have is that the wind & road noise seems excessive (for a Honda).
Love to drive
We bought this car 2 weeks ago and now the Pilot has 3000 miles on it, we live in TX and we love to drive with this car only for out of town very week more than any other cars I bought before, and the engine very smooth.
It's Just Awesome
I am very happy with my 2006 Honda Pilot EX-L AWD. It handles great and has a very comfortable drive. Also there is so much cargo room. I bought the all season mats and rear cargo tray. It was well worth it as it protects the interior and stock floor mats.
Great Truck at Great Price
Purchased the '06 Pilot EX AWD for $24,200. I love how the truck handles and comes with lots of useful amenities. It rides like a car. Advance safety features come standard. The only thing I don't like from the Pilot is the placement shift lever. It should be placed in the console. Besides, wider wheels and tires would be helpful for more grips to the road. Moonroof should be available in the EX Models! Other than those mentioned above, it's a perfect build SUV for a family.
Great Family Vehicle
While it is difficult to be all things to all drivers, the Pilot gives it a pretty good shot. While you will not be able to tow that 100 foot sail boat that you see on the Nissan Titan commercials, you will be able to do what 98% of SUV purchasers need to do. You will find the ride to be very smooth, solid and quiet. The Pilot is definitely a Honda. Great build quality. With the end of the model year deals available right now, you cannot go wrong.
Just had to buy a Honda again.....
I have owned a Honda CRV for the last three years and put 85000 miles on it. It was the most reliable vehicle I have ever owned. I started looking at the Honda Pilot about a year ago and finally decided to purchase one. I absolutely love it. I really like the styling of the vehicle. Both the exterior and the interior are modern, well thought out designs. The vehicle has a number of features that you would expect to find on much more expensive SUVs including XM radio, wonderful leather heated seats, and heated rear view mirrors. It is rock solid on the road with an excellent engine. Great SUV.
Your get there
My 2006 pilot is a good looking SUV. Its in a class of the MVX Is stand out is it own class. Good on gas, rides good quite ride.
Pilot EX/Nav 2006
We purchased this vehicle early this December. With 700 mles, our front windsheld water pump stopped working. The Pilot had to stay 2 days in the shop. We purchased this Pilot for my wife so she does not have to worry about mechanical problem. I took her Honda Accord, which has 38K and sold my Honda Civic. We purchase one Honda per 2 year since 1997 in average.
Ugly Duckling
This is not a pretty automobile, at least on the outside. That being said, it is very comfortable, has plenty of smooth power, handles well, and can still tow a meduim sized boat/trailer. Best of all it is built solid. The sound of the doors closing is better than a Mercedes. There's plenty of room on the inside and lots of practical items, e.g. cup holders, even for the third row seat, rear air conditioning, etc. Fuel mileage is typical in the city (18mpg) but the economy drive will get you to 24 mpg on a a straight an level interstate. Not pretty, but a real comfortable, durable and functional SUV. I recommend it highly.
Best for the price
2wd with Variable Cylinder Management gave us 24 mpg avg on 2500 mile trip.Plenty of power and quiet at the same time. Had dealer install better tires(Bridgestone Dueler Alenza's). What a differance in ride, handling and quiet.Great driver.Great build quality.Check out the headliner!
Stylish,Sexy & Safe!!
I was not in the market to purchase a new vehicle, but since my motor blew I had no choice. With a grand-daugther on the way, 4 teen/adult children of my own and a fiance I needed space, space, and more space. And that's exactly what I got! I'm so happy with my Honda, I think of places to go just to drive it. I was set on the Pacifica, but my fiance really pushed for me to test the Pilot. All of 10 mins I was sold. Great handling (which was my complaint with the Pacifica),easy access to buttons, safety features all around this SUV. I've already put the carseat in and still we have room. No more complaints about not enough room. Great family SUV, and it fits my sexy self.
EX AWD NAV - A Good SUV
FIRST My Warning to potential buyers: Dont get caught out by "MP3 and XM Sat- radio ready" What they mean by that is "the present system is upgradable" to have these features you have to pay an extra $1700. Now about the rest of the Honda Pilot: I reasearched the available options (Toyota Seqouia, Nissan Armada, Acura MDX, Mercedes ML-350) very carefully. Came to the conclusion that Pilot was the most logical/Optimal choice. After a month of driving it, I am glad I made the choice. I would not hesitate in recommending the same to others.
Love it!
I love my Pilot! The fact that it automatically goes into 4wheel drive is wonderful. I don't have to even think! I do wish it had the automatic headlights as my minivan had, but I've learned to turn them on. That's the ONLY complaint I have. I'd pick this one again!
Two Pilots in my Life - One is a Vehicle
After a very thorough research effort, and test driving several vehicles, we decided the best fit and value for our family was the Honda Pilot. The decision was right on! The Pilot offers more amenities, greater comfort, and superior styling to the Highlander and others considered for this purchase. The ride, response, features and overall quality of the Pilot make it a "First Choice" natural. When you can please both the male and the female appetites for a vehicle, you must have a Honda Pilot!
Finally, not a lemon!
I traded in a 2006 Chevy Equinox with 2600 miles on it for this Pilot. My Equinox was a lemon. So totally different between the two! I am in heaven! I love my Pilot!
A must have!!!
After 3 months and 3000 miles of ownership I am wonderfully pleased with this purchase! I was the owner of a Toyota Camry for years and thought no one could match the satisfaction of that purchase until I purchase my Honda Pilot. I am totally pleased with the handling (handles like a car) and the looks are "off the chain"!! It is a wonderful ride and a joy in ownership. You will not be disappointed with this vehicle and even if you are (with some of the features) it won't matter - trust me.
Pilot's a Great Value
This car is a great value for the vehicle class and type. Excellent reliability, overall quality and interior design make it a superior value compared to other vehicles in this category. Actual mileage (combination city/highway driving) I'm getting is >18.5 mpg too, a bit better than Edmunds predicted (17). Individual ratings are for this vehicle class. For example, I rated performance as 9 - obviously, this is for a 4300 pound vehicle and not a sports car.
I love my Pilot
The vehicle is quite comfortable and has plenty of room. The fit and finish are high quality but a little plain. The fuel mileage is similar to the EPA numbers and reasonable for a car of this size.
Excellent...!!!!!!! Value for the Money
Excellent vehicle, Value for your money. Cheaper than other competitors with navigation. Got the Pilot with Navigation. Excellent vehicle. Good control and having comfortable seating for 5 adults and in Third row kids can sit. Navigation is the coolest feature. Very helpful when driving during detour roads.
06 Pilot LX
This is a review of a ten day old Pilot LX with 500+ miles driven. (Previous car was a 00 Accord LX-V6). Overall smooth power delivery and transmission shifts. The ride is generally pleasant with some road noise. On rougher roads, there were some low pitch rattle from behind the driver seat (or may be behind the second row.) Driving position is good with supportive seat. Controls are accessible and intuitive. On the first 2 tanks of gas, I am averaging about 21mpg with 80% highway (sometime congested) driving. Versatility is excellent with easy steps to different seating configurations. Overall, this SUV has most features I want and presents a good value.
Love the car - will only buy Honda/Acura
Great SUV! Traded in a 2001 CL type S for the Pilot. Plenty of room, great ergonomics, fun to drive. Has plenty of storage areas, and the dash is easy on the eyes. Not cluttered like other cars. Would reccomend this car to anyone!
What a Great Ride!!!!!!!!
So far so good I've had the Pilot for three weeks. It's awesome!
