I love my pilot
This is one of the best riding most confortable cars I've ever been in. It's got a very smooth ride that you really can see when you drive over bumps or tracks. The interior is extremely friendly and convienent to the driver. The passenger seating is also very confortable. The center cosole with power outlets inside the cosole allows the phone to charge while out of sight. 4 power outlets throughout. Interior lighting great for all passengers individually. Rear seat (for 3) folds completely away easily for increase storage space. Visibility is excellent in all directions. I love my Pilot!!

Good, not great
Excellent Honda reputation, questionable ergonomics. Uncomfortable drivers seat. Steering wheel position and driver's seat hard to match for comfort. Small radio/cd buttons on dash, steering wheel controls seem lilke afterthoughts, not as user friendly as controls in new Accord. Great drivetrain, confidence building trip through the Deleware Gorge in the rain, filled the back with antiques and a dog, got 20 mpg over 900 miles. The Nav comes only with continental USA software.
Great Family Car
It is better than the American SUV's on Fuel Economy and style. My last car was a Mini Van and this is the Mini Van of the 21st century.
Awesome
This vehicle drives great. Lots of cargo room and storage spaces. Radio is awesome..love the net and hooks for grocery shopping. Third row seating is very convient to use and easy to stow away.
Solid family vehicle,
Great vehicle, and very roomy up front. 17-20 actual gas mileage, or about 315 miles per tank.(At that point I was running on fumes.) Though it is considered an eight seater, it actually seats four adults and four kids comfortably. My wife and I love the way the back seat folds down, in two separate sections. This allows one or two people to set in the third row whenever you fold the other side of the seat down. And unlike some vehicles, these seats fold down flat. The engine has above average power, and the steering is fine. Though we have only owned our Pilot seven months, we are very happy with it.
Pilot great all-around vehicle
We get 25 mpg/highway (70-75 mph), 19 mpg average. Plenty of power, plenty of room in front and middle row, although third row is strictly for kids. Handles well on the highway and secondary roads but it's not made for driving fast on back roads. Uses 5W/20 oil, which might be hard to find. Changing the oil filter is a breeze, a first in 32 years of driving. We have the DVD player and the kids absolutely love it. We live on a mile-long dirt road and it handles that well, goes great in the CT snow. All the luxury of the Acura MDX with more room and a lower price.
Love my Pilot
I searched for two years for a new car. After researching on the web, I was convinced Honda Pilot was the one for me. They are sharp looking and easy to handle. The dealership was great to work with. I went to three different Honda dealerships and negotiated the best price. This is the first Honda I have owned.
New Pilot
I've had many hondas. Accord, RSX, Integra; the Pilot is by far the best vehicle I've ever owned. Why anyone would pay the additional money for an MDX is beyond me. Hondas are normally quiet but this car takes it to a new level. My father has a GS400 Lexus and while the ride in the Pilot is different it feels just as luxurious and solid. Nice job Honda.
2004 pilot with dvd
I read many reviews of different suv's and test drove two but settled on the pilot. It seems to be the best value for the money with many features standard with the leather dvd package. The ride is very comfortable and much quieter than I expected after reading earlier reviews. I am very satisfied with this suv and do recommend it to others.
Honda Pilot
Represents my first SUV purchase. The Pilot has made it a smoother transition from years of owning sedans. So far it has proved to demanstrate the samereliability that Honda has been known for. Had an Accura TL & the Pilot has many of same comfort & performance features .
improvements needed
I had a lot of trouble with my pilot when I first bought it. There was hesitation at 40 mph. After the recall work was done and the replacement of an egr valve it was better but not cured. A lot to have had done on a new car! My seats are not as comfy, like they are losing fluff. But the interior room is the best in this range. My son is 6'3, 266 pounds! The radio rattles and is of poor quality and there is a lot of tire noise. I wouldn't buy it again and may end up selling it for a Land Cruiser or another Toyota. At least it will keep its value for resale. It is growing on me though.
Keep on going
My polit contiunes to suprise me everytime I drive. I recently went on a long trip and drove my poilt, it was an 14hr trip and I did not feel tired after the drive. In fact I could of drove anther 8hrs and still would of felt rested. I love my SUV.
Honda Pilot
Having previously owned 4 large SUV's (2 Jeep Wagoneers & 2 GMC Yukons) we were looking for something that offered the same or similar capabilities, ie., trailering for a boat/trailer (approximately 3000 lbs), seating for 7 or 8, driving comfort and all weather driving capabilities. Additionally, I was looking to improve on gas mileage. The Pilot has not dissapointed us in any way. It's size and maneuverability is an added plus. My wife wouldn't drive the Yukons because of their size but loves driving the Pilot. My only criticism is the annoying "clicking" of/at the rear brakes when under way after reversing direction or releasing the parking brakes.
Honda SUV
Tested the Toyota Highlander and found the Pilot was more to the taste of what we were looking for. So far, so good but only have 10k miles on it. After 50k miles, then ask me. The light indicators on the center console are very dim to check if ingaged or not. Seating for eight---I'd like to see the how three will fit in the rear otherwise a good choice.
It's incredible........
Have had the car for nearly 5 mos. It's incredible. Great handling...like a car but with features of an SUV. Lots of leg and head room. Comfortable on the long hauls, too. And, it's peppy! Great pick up when I'm merging onto the highway.
uncomfortable seats
like the car in many ways, but I find the seats hit me mid leg and cause worse leg fatigue. the center console being open catches way to many things and is sloppy. The performance of the car is reliable, one of the best I drove when I was looking.the navigational system is wrong often.and the voice is annoying.the seats don't fold down flat.seats are not heated..
Honda Pilot
The 2004 Honda Pilot is a fun vehicle to drive. Though we only bought it a month ago and with 1010 miles on it I would rate the vehicle a '10'. The engine is quiet, the ride is very comfortable, the 240 hp engine feels like an engine with a higher hp. Great passenger space that sits 8. Under the hood is a very clean set up of its engine, etc. The leather trimmings' quality of work is excellent compared to American made SUV crossovers with comparable features. Overall, I highly recommend the Honda Pilot to motorists who are currently looking to buy a SUV.
Great Pilot Great Buy
Just purchased the 2004 Honda Pilot. It is a great vehicle. Very pleased with our purchase. Honda's are the best vehicles on the road.
Great for the Kids
Left a 2000 minivan for the Pilot. Minivan was great for the little ones but it was time for a change. Pilot handles very well and for a high profile vehicle it gets pretty good gas milage. Standard AWD is a plus as is the wireless headphones for the kids.
Love My Pilot!
This SUV is great for hauling people and freight. It is comfortable and reliable, getting 18 MPG. I've driven 3 GMC Suburbans. They were always breaking down and had terrible gas mileage.
nice suv but horrible gas mileage!!!
we've had our pilot for 11 mos. and my #1 complaint is the gas mileage. i'm lucky to get 17 mpg on the hwy. it's a nice suv. however, i don't think i would purchase another one. i've already had something go wrong with the suspension, 1 recall, horrible gas mileage, and about 4 times a month it dies when you first start it. for a vehicle that only has 10K miles i feel that this should not be a problem. i totally baby this car, i try to go no faster than 70 mph on hwy and still get 17 mpg if i'm lucky. if getting good gas mileage does not matter to you than i would suggest this vehicle! it does handle well and is reliable.
A Great Choice!
This is an excellent vehicle. We love our Pilot. We first became interested in it because of the wonderful safety ratings it was given by consumer reports, and we are very happy with our decision. There are some extras, like automatic lights and power passenger seats that the EXL does not have. We wish these features had been offered to us.
I like it a lot.
I've owned it since January 2003. I purchased it when I found out I was pregnant with my first child. It is very comfortable in traveling with people and children. I test drove every SUV in its class and this one was the roomiest. I recommend it.
love it
I love this vehicle!
Enjoyable SUV
I have had my Pilot first the get-go. It is fun to drive, seats the kids and dogs and groceries and whatever I pick up during the day. The GPS could be better, more detailed. The MPG is NOT the advertised MPG I get...I get much less. Wish I could have gotten the GPS and the DVD system together...wanted Honda to add DVD on but they said no go.
love my pilot!
I'm so happy that this is the car I chose. With the third seat up my three children and their friends all fit with room to spare. The Pilot is a great alternative to a minivan or extra large SUV without compromising any space. It's fun to drive and MUCH easier to park than my husband's Suburban! I highly recommend anyone looking to check out the Pilot.
best suv for its price
this car is great... much better than the toyota highlander.... i love it... i got this car for only 30g... with dvd side bars for the roof rack.... and the side step.....
I Love My Pilot
I love my Honda Pilot and the service and assistance I have received from Frank Kent Honda in Fort Worth has been wonderful. It's the first time I've owned a car for almost a year and not started looking for what I wanted next.
it's okay
it's okay. there are some knocking/thumping sounds while driving. per the dealer, this is a result of the design of the gas tank. also, the car sometimes moves forward (lunges) without putting my foot on the accelerator, and it sometimes holds back (drags) without putting my foot on the brake. the gas mileage is pretty good for city (start and stop) driving. the standard radio/cd speaker system is not very strong, and sound is not good with the windows down.
A Less Expensive Acura
This is an excellent choice for someone who needs good traction but without needing heavy-duty off-road capability. Provides a wonderful highway driving experience with better than average fuel economy for it's class. Driver, passenger and second row seating are very comfortable but the third row is best for children. An excellent city driver with short turning radius, great for parking. Finally, it is a Honda so fit, finish and reliability are a given.
Best SUV fir the money
First time SUV buyer, for less than $30k,no other carmaker can match this car. Isn't perfect, but again a great car , just very happy...
Honda soso
The seats are stiff which goes along with the ride. The leather is not soft. I have decided that I really do not like the style. I have had electrical problems.
Will buy again!
The 2004 EX-L has most of the features you would want. The controls are smartly designed. Mechanically, the transmission is smooth and the engine well matched to the car. Quality of design and build is very high.
Love our new Honda Pilot
We have just put our first 1,000 miles on our new Pilot (2004). We have no complaints, only good things to say. Like comfort, style and ride - the best. Our grandkids are in love with the entertainment system and its many options. We plan on many years of luxury driving in our new Honda, our first.
GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!
Rides and handles like a car. Wider than most which is important. Good space and milage for SUV. Hey, it's a Honda!
Handsome Honda
My pilot came with a bubbled windshield with a ton of bubbles in the sunscreen part of the windshield. Aside from that (and it was repaired under warranty) it has been a great rig. I tow a 2400 pound hardside tent trailer with it and it acts like it barely knows the trailer is there. The brakes are really strong 4 wheel disks. Corners really well. My back hurt all the time in my old car and now, I can drive for hours with no problem. Great car on the freeway with all wheel drive for in the snow.
Pilot Better than the rest
I've had three different SUV's. This is by far the best one I've had. Dodge, Jeep and Ford have nothing on Pilot!
What a Great Ride!
The Honda Pilot is a reliable SUV that holds up well when other drivers bump and grind into you. The navigation system is very easy to use and gets you to your desired location easily. The interior design is techno-chic and very comfortable. The third row of seats has a great option...use one seat, keep the other down or pull them both up. Third row only fits kids and short adults though. Overall, an excellent car with a smooth ride.
4-wheel Drive Wagon
Love it. Especially the heated seats. The leather seats are a little stiff, but I expect after a little use they'll loosen up. The dogs love the back end. Don't know about the towing yet, will find out this summer. Plan to do some light off roading in search of a good fishing hole too.
Excited to Drive
This is a great car to drive. We went from an Explorer to a Pilot and folks...there is a huge difference. The interior of this vehicle is wide and roomy. Significantly bigger than Explorer. The 8 passenger seating seats more than a minivan. Can't say enough about how wonderful this car is to drive. Would definately recommend to anyone looking to purchase an SUV or minivan. It's an Acura MDX without the woodgrain interior.
Great vehicle!
The buyer needs to understand how the ABS (Anti-lock Brakes System) works before it engages and what will happen when it does. Otherwise, I LOVE my Pilot! It's a great vehicle with lots of room--almost like a mom's mini-van inside with a sporty look on the outside.
Honda Pilot rocks!
I have had this vehicle for 7 months and it has been flawless in every way.
beware
Purchased new 4 weeks ago due to high ratings the SUV has achieved. Now it is at the dealer's. They have already replaced drive shaft and are going to "try" replacing rear differential due to a bad vibration I have had since the car was new a whole 1100 miles age. I want Honda to repurchase vehicle since I will no longer feel comfortable driving it. I WANT MY 1999 CADDY BACK!!!
Honda Pilot
I've driven Hondas for 23 years and my 2004 Pilot may be the best vehicle I've ever driven. It has lots of power, a very smooth transmission, and gives a quiet ride (not true with a lot of Hondas). It's first task was a 5,000 mile trip to the Rockies and back. It supplied both power and handling on all kinds of mountain roads, including a short trip off-road. The DVD entertainment system and back seat configuration kept the kids happy. I would recommend a Pilot to anyone looking for a reliable SUV.
Not what I Expected
The Honda we thought would be the dream car, but had second thoughts after comparing my sisters SUV the Mitsubishi Endeavor. That looks a lot better and drives better. It's more exciting and better looking.
2004 Honda Pilot
Took delivery of my 2004 Honda Pilot on November 1 2003, so far this vehicle has proven to be the the best car I have ever purchased. The quality is excellent (as you would expect of a Honda), fit and finish are supurb and is also very quiet when you drive it....nothing rattles! After driving mostly Chevy Blazers in the past, my neighbors were shocked to see this new Honda Pilot in my garage! Having compared these 2 vehicles in terms of quality and overall dollar value, I found the Pilot to be the bigger bang for the buck. This vehicle is great, highly recomended!!
It's the little stuff
Solid ride, easy to drive, great gas mileage on the highway. Acceleration is surprising for its size.
The Pilot
I love my Honda Pilot! It rides nice and smooth like a car. I love everything about it. The only negative I have to say is that it doesn't get the best gas mileage and that the stereo system could be better, but it's comparable to most SUVs. I will definitely buy another. I LOVE IT!
SATISFIED BUYER
THE RIDE IS EXCELLENT.I HAD ONLY 1 PROBLEM MY GAS GAUGE WAS NOT READING PROPERLY BUT THEY REPLACED IT AT THE SERVICE.I WOULD LIKE TO SEE IN FUTURE MODELS THE BACK WINDOW TO OPEN IN SOME CAPACITY TO VENT ALSO FOR MY PET.I ALSO WOULD LIKE TO SEE MEMORY SEATS LIKE I HAD IN MY TOWN & COUNTRY MINIVAN.
