Pieces flew off driving down highway

We bought this car in November 2021, it arrived 7 mos later without any rush, updates or concerns from GMC other than “Covid”. My husband was driving down the highway when the top finish piece of the grill just flew off. Not a huge deal we thought- well GMC will not just sell you a replacement plastic piece- they want you to purchase a whole new grill. This is the top plastic strip at the top of the grill you see in pictures. Without it, screws are exposed and it worries my husband to wash it and dump water or soap on it. He called the dealership was quoted 1100 over the phone for a new grill- because they won’t just fix the strip- and arrived for his appointment this morning to discover after an hour of “confusion” by staff that in summer of 2023- a year after receiving it, it was “out of warranty” , he would have to pay for it in full, and 2 days later the “price had gone up” to $1600. We are due for a new family vehicle next month, and will be purchasing a Toyota Sequoia instead of a Yukon based on this poor customer care and cheaply made vehicle. You can search your local Facebook listings as we have and see many others who have faced the same problem. What a shame that GMC is so greedy it can’t value its loyal customers and replace parts that were poorly designed to begin with- you would expect more for a +$80,000 price tag. Highway robbery. Will not keep this one for long- if pieces are flying off on the interstate for years, we would rather trade it in for a different vehicle before more start coming off. We bought this truck because we thought it would be safe and reliable while he travels on the road often for a living across multiple states and uses it on his farm as well. I suppose GMC is content with their trucks looking like you know what on the roads and in parking lots because they are too cheap to properly remedy their own design flaw. No thank you.

I have 5500 trouble free miles on my 2022 Sierra Pro crew cab, with the 2.7 four cylinder engine. Truck is a joy to drive and currently getting 23 mpg around town. Only changes made were to add running boards and an AutoStop eliminator. Absolutely hated the auto stop feature. $99 for the eliminator was well worth the cost. The 2.7 L engine continues to surprise me with it’s torque, power, and economy.

Beware Carbon Pro Bed.....Not Suitable For Canopy

The carbon pro bed looks similar to the metal bed. Take a close look at the bed rail section (top left and top right). There is no longer a rail. The rail is required for the clamping and install of most if not all truck caps and solid covers. You will be disappointed if you attempt to purchase a cap. You can only get a roll up or folding cover. Some drilling into the plastic is required. Second disappointment is On Star. It comes with a $905 3 year service contract. It used to be a 1 yr free evaluation. Then you can purchase a plan (much cheaper with most On Star free months). I do not live in a area with good On Star service so I never purchased the feature. Now I can't get a refund for something that I don't want.

2022 GMC Sierra 1500 SLT. Love this truck

Updated review and still enjoy this truck. I researched many models for many months. Engine, ride quality, technology, convenience features, etc. and this GMC Sierra checked every box for me. I had a friend with this same truck, so knew what it provided. The dealership, RockHill Buick GMC was great to work with. Ray Fournier, my salesman was great. The sales managers, dealt with both, were great. The finance manager, great. They were rated 5 of 5 stars. I usually dread a dealership experience and did run across many , not as pleasant experiences ,during my vehicle search. But finally landed this truck that is a pleasure to own and drive. Yes, Other models were considered but the faults could not overcome the Sierra, IMO. One of the premium truck makers now have a substantial engine concern whereas some dealerships won’t take them on trade-in. Please do your research.

Love the mid year refresh!

I’ve always loved the overall look of the Sierra but the infotainment system was severely underwhelming. But a mid year refresh for the 2022 models forward changed all that. This truck is amazing on the outside and the inside and strikes the perfect balance between the practicality of a daily work truck, and the refinement for a night out on the town.
