Fun car!!
This car handles great, gets almost 30 mpg around town, and has fair acceleration. With a manual transmission you will knock drinks out of the single cupholder. Interior materials are cheap. I have had a few annoying repairs such as the oil sending unit but nothing major.
amazing

Good Car, Bad Trans......
I have owned a 96 GT since 1999. I have throughly enjoyed this car until today, when the transmission went submission at 72,000 miles. The car has given me no problems beyond the very bad interior rattles. I have always like Ford products, but now I don't know. A friend recommended selling it at 75,000, I almost made it. Liked the car, but didn't like the bad trans that had been flushed 15,000 miles ago. On to something foreign now!!!!
96 GT Probe
I got my Probe GT 08/2007 and I've put over 40,000 miles on it only having to change the oil and put gas in it. But it does only get 17 or 18 mpg and its still running like new still to this day
Still A Gem
Have owned my 5-speed GT since new following a Base '92 Probe. Have only had to replace spark/ignition wires and front half shafts in 6 years/5800 miles. A thrill to drive every day with a beautiful engine and exhaust note. Considered trading last year but car sales rep was so interested in buying it from me personally ("It's like new"), I realized I couldn't replace it for less than 5 times it's trade value and it is still more comfortable and fun than most new cars! I still love it's looks and acceleration - especially in passing situations!
