10 speed transmission are junk

DAN, 05/07/2019
2019 Ford F-150 Lariat 4dr SuperCrew 4WD 6.5 ft. SB (5.0L 8cyl 10A)

This is my Ford new F-150 red 2019 Lariat. The three thousand miles I've had it in the shop 3 times for transmissions issues. Last weekend it started pouring transmission fluid all over the place. Back in the shop again. Poor gas mileage go to the inconsistent shifting. Logging into overdrive hard downshifting. Also there is a squeak or chirp sound coming from the engine this is the 5.0 coyote Ford says it is a timing chain tensioner and they're working on a repair so who knows how long it will be until it's fixed. I wish I would not have traded in my 2015 with a 6-speed transmission. Don't take my word for it look at the forumns that are out there on these Transmissions. Ford is keeping quiet about these issues for now the F-150 is a bread-and-butter so I know they are not going to issue a recall until it becomes had a massive issue. I've never been so disappointed in Ford if it comes down to run by in this truck back I don't know if I will ever get another Ford would I have been a loyal Ford owner for 30 years such a huge disappointment

10 Transmission Trouble

If buying a F-150 try to buy low mile with a 6 speed transmission. I have a 2019 F-150 3.5 Ecoboost 1,275 miles on it first transmission was noisy grinding noise there was metal flakes in transmission pan. Got a new transmission installed and on the way home ( 20 miles ). It did not shift right and overheated ,the whole underneath of the truck and tail gate dripping transmission fluid so I called roadside assistance the truck is back at the dealership but they are not sure what is wrong. Without a truck again they are having trouble with this 10 speed transmission.

Dangerous Lug Nuts

Sandy Rush Texas, 10/10/2019

All current F-150’s are equipped with lug nuts that expand and crack and are often impossible to remove without breaking. Ford refuses to take responsibility so consumers often pay $70 to replace them with safe versions. If Ford doesn’t care enough to keep me out of a dangerous situation during a flat tire, what else are they skimping on? Class action suits are in progress.

Initial Impressions

Bill from Montana, 07/23/2019

So - over the last few years I have owned them all - mostly multiples of each of the following - Tundra's, Tacomo's, Silverado's. My first new Ford since 1977. And so far could not be happier with this purchase. Quiet, controlled ride, power that is unbelievable, great audio system, controls where you want them to be, very comfortable seats. 10 speed transmission - works like a charm - no hunting to find the right gear - seamless shifting. Gas mileage outstanding, and I live in Montana where speed limit on interstate is 80 mph. Just about a thousand miles on the vehicle now - not one fill-up has been under 19.0 mpg - mostly 19.3 to 19.6 mpg avg. On one of these trips hauled maybe 1000 lbs of stuff for a wedding 150 miles away. This includes combined city driving as well. The auto start stop is fine - slight shudder when it shuts down but ready to go when you hit the pedal - nice to know I am not burning gas when sitting at a long light. Have not had one issue requiring me to take to the dealer since purchasing about a month ago. Navigation system is a pleasure to use especially after the aggravation that sets in when you try the Toyota system. Added rear wheel well panels and mud flaps from Husky - easy install. On the trip to trade a Tacoma for this Ford the Tacoma got 17.6 mpg and on the return trip with the F-150 got 19.3 mpg at hit 80 mph plus on some stretches. So far so good.

6 Days and Already Left Stranded

J. Montague, 07/05/2019
2019 Ford F-150 XL 4dr SuperCab 6.5 ft. SB (3.3L 6cyl 6A)

I will give an honest review of both Ford, and our 2019 F150 which we purchased 6 days ago with 17 miles on the odometer. The ride of these are nice, and for those looking for a Full-Size, conventional Ext. Cab from the,"Big Three" Ford is your only choice now. The truck did gives us decent mileage for what little bit we have had it, but on our way from Buffalo, NY to Pittsburgh, PA. we stopped at a rest area, and after returning we go in the truck, and it would not start, service charging system came on, and it wouldn't turn over, at all. Called Ford Roadside, it took them over 2.5hrs to send some idiot with a jumper box in a rusted out Colorado to come out, and after his jumpstart failed he started looking up How-To's on YouTube! Really Ford, that's the best person you could find? He had no luck... Mind you its 90⁰ in the hot sun, and I'm missing a MLB game because of this... Called Ford Roadside again, they said they'd tow it to the nearest dealer. Took the wrecker operator another 1.5hrs to show up, by the time we got to the dealership it was 25 minutes before they closed, the wouldn't give us a rental, they called Enterprise and they didn't have any. So they all closed up shop 15 minutes early, didn't even off us a ride to a hotel so they could look at it Friday July 5th (This was on Wednesday.) and they wave at us after they get in their cars as we're sitting on the tailgate, empty handed, 100 miles from home, no water, anything. They expected us to sit in their lot until Friday. Called AAA to have it towed to the dealer I bought it at, which is where it is currently sitting, that took am additional 2hrs of waiting, and called Corporate to complain about the situation. In all honesty a $40,000 truck shouldn't break down within the first 300 miles, that's utterly ridiculous, and when I told Ford what had happened, and how their franchisees expected us to sleep in my truck, they didn't say a word, didn't even back their product. It's really ashame how these American car makers treat their customers, after this, I don't think I will be buying another Ford, or domestic brand. If you want a truck, get a Toyota, they back their product. If you want a car or small SUV, get a Subaru, and once again, you'll find they back their products well, and both brands get REPEAT CUSTOMERS SINCE THEY BACK THEIR BRANDS!

Replacement for Tacoma

I needed a new truck as my 2001 Tacoma was starting to get tired at 220k. Wanted a regular cab shortbed truck as it’s usually just me in the cab and I haul smaller loads (building materials, furniture, motorcycles.). Other than being gigantic compared to my Toyota, I love this thing. Great daily driver for commuting to work as well as making longer trips. Went with standard 3.3 V6 and getting better mileage than my old truck. It’s not fast but it’s powerful enough the way I use it. Very happy.

2019 f150 lariat JUNK

We bought this brand new. Within the first 2,000 miles we had transmission troubles (hard shifting), engine problem (long crank/no start), paint chipping off and trim pieces falling off. Long story shorter, the first 40 days in the shop they couldn't fix it and actually refused to work on it anymore until it "completely broke". When it did "completely break", it took them another 20 days to fix it. Ford corporate could care less about it's produce and its customers. We wish we had our Grand Cherokee back. I'd give them less than 1 star if I could.

Worst vehicle I have ever owned. No Customer Servi

2019 Ford F-150 King Ranch 4dr SuperCrew 5.5 ft. SB (5.0L 8cyl 10A)

I've been through four f150s though the years and just trade my 5 month old 2019 King Ranch for a Ram Laramie quad cab night edition. I was a diehard Ford fan. The KR was the worst Ford I've ever purchased. I had numerous paint flaws, debris, drips and the final straw was the start of the roof paint bubbling off. Ford and my dealer repainted a third of my vehicle twice assuring me a factory finish. Unfortunately it was Ruby Red mettalic and never matched. I escalated to Ford and the dealer even documented 14 pages of paint flaws and all I got was we will repaint it again. The dealer told me to fix it right the whole truck would need repainted. Ford wouldn't budge on a new vehicle and asked me to give them another $7200 if I wanted another KR. I drove my first Ram on Monday and was hooked. May never buy another Ford.

Please nix auto start/stop (or let me do it)

First, let me say that is love my truck. It’s roomy, beautiful, comfortable, quite peppy/fast, and a great ride. It also has a nice healthy community of modders and aftermarket products supporting it. CarPlay is great, and it’s now all I’ll ever want rather than another auto manufacturer’s sub-par nav system. I have only one complaint that prevents the 5-stars - the idiotic auto stop/start. It’s clear that it’s not driven by customer demand but rather to game the mileage rating system. This is a universal complaint and there’s lots of videos of people trying to hack around it. There’s a button to turn it off, but you must push it every time you start the engine. Again, lots of people doing things like changing firmware (affecting warranty?), disassembling panel and adding electronic parts — ridiculous. FORD - There’s a very simple fix: add a dash controlled feature to the dash menu to permanently enable/disable auto start/stop. Publish it in the next update. That’s it — simple. Do this and I will turn this to 5 stars, and praise Ford for returning to customer orientation.

Transmission problems

I bought a 2019 F-150 XLT 4x4 5.0L 27,000 miles on it. Got it home and the transmission started knocking and wouldn’t shift at all once I was at about 5,000 rpm in 4th gear it finally shifted. I hear rattling and knocking coming from it. Hard shifts in 3,5,8th gear. Mainly 3rd gear is the worst. I wish I would’ve kept my 2017 6 speed f-150. Oh I’ve been to the dealer twice no help there. I guess I’ll get a Toyota next. Before my warranty expires. Take it from all of us. The 10 speed transmission is garbage 🗑. And it makes the 5.0 L feel weak. No get up and go. My 2008 has more torque. This truck can’t even get out of its on way, its sad what ford has done!

I have an xlt crew cab 4x4 with the 2.7 and awesome 10 speed. This thing gets over 22mpg in my mixed commute and if you punch it, it goes. This is the smoothest riding and shifting truck I have driven. I've driven a lot of rams with hemis and 5.3 Chevy's and they cannot touch this.

Take my advice give ford time to work out the kinks on these things I'm on my second truck first one was a 2019 xl stx package 4x4 now the second is a 2019 xlt with the fx4 package and both of em suck in everyway possible shifting problems stupid squealing noises from the engine from what I can tell transmissions makes the dumbest cartoon laser charging up sound when you accelerate all of which is frankly embarrassing to me for the money i am spending I alot of shuddering when you give it gas and I just had to start a oil consumption test and I'm basicly stuck with this monstrosity because until somthing major goes out on it it all your going to be told is that all of this is normal which I know is bull but they know these trucks have defects in them but they arent willing to admit it at least not now anyway so take my word be carefull

2019 f150 xlt 3.5 Jerky Shaky Noisy, Embarrassing

As of this review, I just broke 6000 miles and had them change the oil at 3000. Before you buy a Ford, drive the truck for the weekend before purchasing. The dealer tricked me. They cranked the truck and let it warm up for 10 min before bringing it out. My truck had over 8 hours of idle time on it with less than 200 miles when I checked it/figured out how to check. Transmission bumps and jerks the driveshaft when started or shut down. It feels like the torque converter is hanging and dragging until pressure can build up to release? Engine ticks and rasps very loudly until fully warm then it just ticks.(like an un-oiled chain) Idle is very shaky. It feels like you are running down a bumpy road "randomly shaky" Transmission thinks it is the brakes and beats the heck out of the rear end and drive shaft downshifting. Transmission jerks the whole truck when downshifting into lower gear. Especially hard and loud if you are coasting and not pressing on the brakes. (very fatiguing and super scary if the truck is not fully warm) Shifts are inconsistent and irritatingly jerky. (is it going to shift into 2nd or just skip from 1st to 3rd and jerk me around again. 4-5 is inconsistent and downshifting into 5th always a hold your breath ordeal, "is the BIG BANG" going to happen again? Engine is powerful one day and just normal others? You cannot check the fluid level on the transmission (no dipstick) Ford mechanic says its all normal, its just "parts catching up with each other" and I should have bought the 5.0. (same transmission, so a big NO here) 10,000 mile update: I got used to the noise at start up. Transmission still bumps and pops when started and downshifting. Had a few instances of hanging upshift at part throttle in cool weather. Feels like a cheep POS, not a 40 grand truck. Buyer beware! 18000 mile update, 6th to 5th down shift is constant BANG now. Dealer says no check engine light, no their problem. I do not think FORD even Knows about it. I have never gotten anything about my service or ANYTHING from ford or the dealer. The seat now takes a good 8-10 min to heat up, (within spec according to ford) the console door has fallen off and had to have it repaired. Motor still shakes bad. 25000 mile update. No problems have gone away, FORD has been contacted around the dealer. They say its a dealer problem and will have to leave it with them for possibly months!!! The bad shifting has me scarred to drive in rain or ice. It has barked the rears one time in a downshift in a turn. I need to report to the NTSB. This could result in a out of control vehicle. I know of 2 other people with the same problems. I am going to recommend NTSB reporting as well.

My wife decided it was time to trade-in the Honda Odyssey for a new "family vehicle" as our two boys have grown-up enough. I did not want to trade-in my 14-year-old Honda Accord as it is my daily commuter and works great. The only way we can get the wife to go camping with us boys is if we use a camper, so we decided to get a truck for the first time in our marriage. We did not have loyalty to Ram, Ford, or Chevy. Therefore, we went out on our search with no bias. We test-drove the Laramie Longhorn, Platinum, and High Country. We want this to be our "forever truck" so that is why we test-drove the higher level of trims. We started with the all-new 2019 Ram 1500. I personally loved the truck. The features inside were amazing and the seats were very comfortable. The kids loved the rear seats because they reclined and had ventilated seats (which the other two did not). The wife did not like it at all because the passenger-ventilated seats blew out hot air...and it was 96 outside when we were test-driving. So that right there was enough for her not to want to test-drive it again, plus the fact that it was not as smooth riding as the F-150 and Silverado. The all-new 2019 Silverado was a great drive. The ride was the smoothest of all three (and yes, we drove the same route as the dealerships are on top of each other). The seats though in the Silverado were the least comfortable out of the three, but just barely. However, the big reason for not getting it was that it did not have adaptive cruise control. They are not putting it on the Silverado until 2020! ACC was necessary as we are driving this truck from the East Coast to North Dakota quite a bit to see family. In addition, using it helps me out with my road rage on drivers who do not know how to use cruise control. If it would have had ACC, we would have given it another test-drive. The F-150 had everything we wanted. The seats are the most comfortable, the interior is not as nice as the Ram, but everything worked which is necessary. The added plus of having massaging seats are great for long drives! There are reviews about the power steering not being as responsive, but I have not had negative experiences and it feels great to me. Using the new Sync-3 is not tough to get used to, and I am no techy. The transmission is very smooth and makes the ride comfortable. The boys love the rear seats and the space they have, but did like the Ram better because they had separate A/C controls and ventilated seats. The power that the 3.5L turbo puts out is amazing and it tows the heaviest of trailers with ease. In addition, the Pro Back-up Assist helps idiots like me look like a professional! I wish the other two did that...it would save a lot of honking at RV parks and boat ramps! The wife and I both love the F-150 Platinum. She drives it just as much as I do. 1-year update: We’ve owned the truck for a year now and have put over 20,000 miles on it. 5,000 of those miles were a long road trip across the country. We couldn’t be happier with the truck. The only thing that would make it better would be separate climate control for the rear seats. The Ram offers that and would help the kids out. Other than that, the truck is perfect!

Just got my factory ordered f150 with the 10 speed transmission. Total POS. It jumps back and forth when shifting, it feels like you are driving in OD at low speed where it bumps back and forth from OD to drive. I waited 2 1/2 months for this truck to arrive. I have driven it less than 50 miles and already having terrible shifting problem. I ordered it with the 5.0 coyote and 10 SPD trans. I had no choice. I will never own another FORD. Total disgrace!!!

Bought 2019 Ford F-150 had it 5 day got in to start it put key in & screen reads turn ignition off. Couldn’t start couldn’t do anything after waiting all day for roadside assistance called dealership they had to flatbed truck back to dealership. It has been there ever since. In deep sleep mode they don’t have a clue what’s wrong! Brand new truck & im left with no answers & a loaner that is way too small for me I’m looking for anyone that has either had the same issues or knows anything about this issue, because they sure don’t. I should’ve bought a Chevy.

As the title says, my new 2019, bought 6months ago is not nearly the same workhorse my 2012 was! So I got rid of it and bought a 2016 crew cab f150 xlt package with 27,000 miles on it and I am very very happy again. I had to vote no confidence in my brand new 2019. It was just too lean and modernized for a real world work truck for me. I'm sorry Ford, but the light and loose suspension, big rims/thin tires really put me off. I tried to get a heavier duty suspension and the blue heavy duty brake pads for it from Ford and they acted like it was a criminal offense and refused to help me. With that and the fact that the rims and tires were a bust I gave up and just went with something older but still pretty new. Also what is the deal with the windows going all the way down your lap? My guess is so police can see if you're on a phone, but it's definitely alittle annoying if the windows are down and you realize that your whole upper body is now exposed.

This truck is probably the best bang for the bucket that you can buy. 2.7L 6cyl Turbo gives you 400lb/ft of torque. This will surprise you if you think V6 is not strong enough. The truck come with all basic features that you need and if you want a little more luxury you can add or replace the fabric with leather, add Husky mats, spray-in bed with Line-X or wherever you want. So, you buy a STX that comes with lots of features and add what you want later with time.

Can’t tow a trailer

I’ve owned my 2019 F150 for about 6 months. It’s an XLT Super Crew with 3.5 Eco Boost and 10 speed automatic. Up until I tried to tow my holiday trailer, I thought everything about this truck is a little better than my old 2013. Then I tried to tow. It is the least capable towing truck I’ve owned in 34 years! I would rather use the 1974 F150 I owned a lifetime ago! The back end of the truck just won’t track. I should mention here that the trailer is a 2006 Jay Flight 27bh. The GVW IS 7500 LBS. Well within the advertised capacity of this truck. I have towed this trailer with a 2014, and 2013 F150. A 2016 Ram 1500, and a 2004 Expedition. All have handled it with no issues. The first time I towed with this truck I got 5 miles down the road and had to pull over. The back of the truck was all over the place. I lightened up the leveling bars to put more weight on the rear end and it helped. I stopped 2 more times to get even more weight on the back. The trip home was the real adventure. With the water tanks now empty, and in a 15 km/h cross wind, at 95 km/h it was all I could do to hold on for dear life, using the entire lane. After owning 20 Ford trucks in the last 34 years, I am absolutely disgusted with this truck, and how I’ve been treated by the dealer and Ford. I’m going to trade it off today on a Ram 1500. Chrysler couldn’t turn me into a “Dodge guy” but Ford sure has. Honestly, if towing is something you’ll never do, it’s a good truck.

The ride and daily useability of this truck including family school dropoff is just outstanding. I don't see myself ever returning to a FORD passenger vehicle product. The truck seats are perfect. The straight line tracking and steering response is way above what I expected. Boat hauling has been much easier and MPG have averaged 17.9 combined, after 14k miles. The high horsepower 6 cylinder has excellent turbo thrust when needed. Around town, no lag noticeable. FORD has done a super job with this truck making it work and home beneficial.

F-150 3 liter "baby diesel" as a tow vehicle

(NOTE: I was not able to find the 3.0 Liter Power Stroke diesel in the model choices? but that is the vehicle I'm reviewing). We live on a boat powered by a big single diesel tractor engine and so we have both come to respect the durability and torque of diesel engines and wanted the same for our truck we planned to buy to pull a 7000 lbs Airstream trailer. We didn't want noise and we did want comfort and "good" fuel mileage. We ended up with a 2019 Ford F-150 with a 3 liter Power-Stroke diesel rated to tow about 10,000 lbs. On our test drive we both noted that the truck interior noise was less than the noise in our Prius we would trade in! So now that we are approaching 5000 miles (most of it towing the trailer - including over several significant mountains passes) what we have learned: 1) "Real world" MPG: towing 15 - 16 mpg, city 20 ish mpg, and highway 29 - 30 mpg which are all numbers that exceeded our expectations! 2) towing - the truck tows the trailer with ease. The "tow mode" does a great job of determining which of the 10 speeds is best for down hill grades and once the driver establishes a target speed the truck will maintain it without further input. We both are very comfortable backing trailers but have found the self backing function to be a really cool accessory that works well and so we have come to prefer it over manual control. We have never seen any indication that the engine or transmission were over heating while towing despite going up long passes at 60 mph.Having the computer control the trailer brakes makes braking feel the same with and without the trailer attached. 3) Comfort: we have both come to appreciate that heated and cooled seats, dual comfort zones and auto setting of seat/mirror/and pedal positions as we have very different driving preferences. Our moderately tall grandson appreciates that good legroom in the back seat. We all appreciate the 400 Watt 120 V inverter as well as lots of USB and 12V charging ports. The only thing I wish was included in the trailer package was extendable mirrors otherwise the vehicle has exceeded our expectations.

Selected the F-150 Lariat over the RAM 1500 Larimie. I am happy I did. Very nice fit and finish. I like the dashboard stitching. Brakes very well for a truck that size, very smooth transmission. Exterior design turns heads. Very happy thus far.

I traded a 2013 F150 with 3.7 V6, up to my FX4 5.0 Coyote. Ok. I LOVE....the quiet smooth ride. Did I say quiet? Very quiet. Huge rear seat area which is great for long trips because I can sleep back there when my wife is driving. I have been reading the forums and started getting a little worried about tranny issues, but after 2000 miles it's just getting better. Yes I HATE the ASS feature, but at least I can disable it. The sound system is adequate, very functional and the FordPass rocks! I love the V8 and the power and sound. I test drove the Ecoboosts and almost got the 3.5, but it just had no character. Anyway, I am a bit concerned about the oil consumption issue with the V8. So far, nothing. I'm also getting pretty good milage. My last truck would get 21 mpg on the hwy. Pretty sad for a 3.7. The 5.0 gest 19-20 at 80 mph. I got the 36 gallon fule tank and I can literally drive all day without stopping. I love this truck! Sorry to hear all the horror stories out there though. I'm just lucky so far.

I'm going to keep this simple. I like my truck BUT for what I paid I should love it. Transmission shifts hard into reverse especially when cold. My sister's civic has a nicer radio and it was half the price. My biggest gripe is gas milage. I get 21 on highway on a great day with wind at my back going downhill. I average 19.5 otherwise. Sticker says 24.. Ha! Jokes on me.

This truck has been a nightmare! I've owned it less than 6 months bought it used 2019 around 10,000 miles on it and its been in the shop 3 times, each time over 2 weeks! I've had shifting issues so bad I could have swore I was rear ended multiple times, wiring harness issues, knock sensor issues, complete power loss 2 times (complete shut off.. No steering, braking, NO POWER, cooling fan went crazy! The engine light is consistently on. The worst of all rodent issues! They love the soy base wiring! I've set traps (caught nothing), put out De-con, sprayed my truck nightly with peppermint oil, dryer sheets in the hood, moths balls, led light under the truck at night, camera under the truck (nothing again) I hired pest control found no evidence of rodents around my home. Yet here we are again, my truck had been in the shop for 10 days now and my warranty doesn't cover rodent damage (of course not!). Buyer beware, nothing but issues!

Good Truck, Terrible Technology & Advancements

I recently purchased a 2019 Lariat FX4 F-150 to replace my 2016 RAM 1500 Limited EcoDiesel. I purchased my F-150 with the 'famous' 3.5L V6 Ecoboost, with 3.54 gearing. Right from the start, I noticed the suspension was extremely mushy. The back end without weight in it kicks over bad roads. There are many forums online discussing this. Solution: Bilstein Upgraded Shocks. The completely unnecessary 10-speed tranny is god awful in hilly conditions. When driving up a hill, a Prius can pass you without a sweat. Reason being the tranny likes to get to 10th as quickly as possible and sits there. You have to jab the throttle, wait for the shift & turbos to boost, and then rack in the desired speed increase. Its terrible. On highways if you need to make a quick move, don't rely on this truck. When you hit the gas, the tranny knows you'll need a lower gear to quickly move, however it only drops 1-2 gears giving you lackluster results. Then unhappy with that, you press harder on the pedal, and the trans shifts to 3-4 gears down (YES!), and delivers you a BURST of excess power. However all of this took so long that the gap you were trying to merge into, or change lanes to, has already faded from existence. Why can we get linear power? Ford programming is so fuel economy minded, it puts safety at risk. Last caveat is the trucks electric power steering. Like all power steering system, the wheel returns to center when you loosen your grip on the steering wheel. This power steering system is so strong, it returns the wheel to center in break neck speed! Three of the other cars we test drove all did the same. If you normally let the wheel unspring itself out of a turn, don't do it with this one. Keep one hand on it. - Now the good. I've owned since new an 05 F350 which I still own. That truck is a great example of why people associated 'premium truck' with Ford. The build quality and materials were superior to anything else out there. I see that same craftsmanship in my 2019 F-150, and understand why it is the best selling truck in America. It rides comfortably (with upgraded shocks), engine delivers adequate power, and aesthetics overall look are great. If your a tech guy, who likes to customize the infotainment, consider RAM trucks. This SYNC 3 system is very limited to what you can do.

It was time to replace the wife's '98 Explorer. We looked at Ram, Chevy, Toyota, and Ford. She absolutely LOVED the Ram, but her stature wouldn't allow her to get comfortable. Toyota kept trying to sell ME the truck and ignored my wife. Chevy almost had a sale, but the salesman wasn't interested in making one. Too bad, that Chevy was nice, CrewCab, 4x4, 6.0L if the salesman only worked harder, so reluctantly we went to Ford. I was not interested in buying one, I have 3 old F250's which are tanks. 351, C6, 4x4s but had no interest in this aluminum, 10 speed experiment. BUT since my wife is the buyer, she liked the seats, the visibility, and the "feel". So we bought it. First 2k miles it's ok, except for the valve train tap in the 5.0, the squealing from the belt tensioner, and horrible gas mileage, no better than 18mpg. We brought it in for its 7500 mile oil change, and asked the service dept to look at the issues...."That's normal"...really? I know what a 5.0 should sound like, got one in my car. Now have 11K miles on it and now I hear the clunking in the tranny everyone else is experiencing. I notice how the tranny seems to always be hunting for a gear to settle on. The Autostop/start sucks, as no way to permanently disable it. I'll be taking it to a different service dept the next oil change and ask about the new issues. I'm sure that's all "normal" for a brand new $40k truck. Never again Ford.

Excellent truck so far... Drove 350 miles from the dealership and love it. I don't care for the hybrid start button. Has to be turned off every time I start the truck. This could be removed and I would he happy. I don't want starter issues. But overall this is the truck of my dreams. The katskin leather seats and XD KMC Custom wheels are awesome. I love my truck.

A Real Review to consider

Firstly never trust the big wig car reviews on line, They are obviously biased. Most evident in reports that claim F150 to be the better truck over Chevy 1500 with in the same paragraph that states Chevy is the more reliable. Makes no sense. If you are looking for bells and whistles in a truck that drives like a sports car, that is the purple dragon you will be chasing if you base your purchase on these type reviews. Then you have the die hard Ford fans that will defend the vehicle to the end. Being a Chevy Fan I get it! Owning a Landscaping/Tree Company for 18 years I have witnessed Ford and Dodge Trucks literally FALL APART under real life "wear and tear." So my position on Chevy trucks was not favoritism, rather "Survival" of a company as the day I sold the company it went with the Chevy trucks that were the backbone and are still on the road today with 300k miles plus and daily workers. BUT I recently fell into the influence of these biased reviews after briefly driving a Ford Transit van with the ecoboost 3.5. Impressive power and torque with the 6 speed tranny. Reviews claiming the F150 being the best "beast of a 1/4 ton pick up" able to tow 12k pounds but still be a comfortable ride with great mpg reeled me in. So I bought a 2019 Max Tow 4x4 3.5 ecoboost. Worst 9 months of my life! The 10 speed tranny makes the braking and acceleration a very unpleasant ride to say the least. Every time I got into the truck I was worried I may end up with another scratch, dent or flaking paint because someone sneezed. The cramped cloth interior stains and discolors with in a few months with little use. The polymer type plastic inside and out fades quickly and plastic door handles fell off the truck the first time I ran it through a carwash. Be careful when wearing soft souled tennis shoes as they will leave permanent marks on the plastic door panels. The claimed gas mileage of 20 plus per gallon may be achievable if running premium 93 octane, with the tranny setting in "eco mode" which is a sluggish un responsive ride even for a truck. Otherwise your average MPG is around 16 to 17 miles per gallon with the 3.5. And all though the truck may have the capability of pulling 12k, a small camper (6k) is way too much pay load for the truck and causes the rear end to sink and steering to become very squirly. Not to mention towing will put you at 6 to 7 miles to the gallon. A good choice for the home owner who drives to and from the grocery store and an occasional home depot trip for some plywood. Keep in mind the all aluminum construction will leave you with an irepairable vehicle with just a small fender bender. Ask any body shop. F150 is a cheaply made TIN CAN ON WHEELS. A disposable vehicle at best. I have since made my own decision on the Chevy 2500 custom 6.6 gas even though car critics rate it at a 3, again because it doesnt drive like a corvette or have 25 buttons across the dash or the tons of useless technologies of these other wanna be trucks on the market today. They smash the 2500 CUSTOM for low MPG at 16mpg, but what they dont tell you is the motor runs on regular gas (High Octane not reccomended) So for less that 2 miles under what you get in the glorified f150, in trade for gas that is under 2 dollars a gallon for a truck that will pull a house and is built to last!!! Point being , make your decision on CONSUMER REPORTS like this one, not a bunch of whiny car critics that give biased reviews, Hope this helps someone avoid the mistake I made.

In September, 2019, I purchased a brand new bright red, 2019 Ford F 150 SuperCrew. I'm in love, or something like it. What a beast!. The tiny 2.7 literV6, mated to an equally state-of-the-art Ford 10-speed automatic transmission, is very impressive. The little engine is very high-tech, and is equipped with not one, but two turbochargers. The result is a badass, that gets excellent fuel economy! The trucks starts and stops the motor when it wants to, operates the headlights (bright and dim) for me, locks the doors for me after I drive off. The interior is massive and features a must have; the floor console. The latter gives the interior an upscale looks, even though it is "only" an XLT. The outside is beautiful, particularly the tough, big-rig-looking (yet sleek, modern and pretty) front end. The grill/headlight combo is very nice, indeed. A lovely beast. I nicknamed it, "Little Red", even though it is huge. Two-wheel drive all I need. It has the shorter, 5.5 ft. box, which I think is very cool. The bed even has lighting.

I owned a 2016 5.0 Ford F-150 Fx4 Crew Cab. I sold it and wanted a new truck warranty. I was sold this economy based 3.5 Ecoboost Ford 150 FX4 Crew Cab by a brain washed Ford sales dude. Everytime I get into this 10 speed thing, I've got to turn the Ecoboost off. Why? When I pull up to a stop sign, the thing runs like a clunker. The Ford hesitates and chokes. I can't imagine what it would be like off-road. My gas mileage is currently at 9 MPG with this Ecoboost. It's worse than my former 5.0, 8 cylinder Ford. I've used 5 different Ford service centers. They're all terrible. Ford corporation doesn't care.

We purchased our Metallic F-150 Super Crew Sport Edition with 16,000 miles on her from the secondary leasing market in March. My wife and I love just about everything about this bad boy and we expected to enjoy it. Excluding the outstanding look of the sport edition, this truck has been everything we wanted and more. It is great to just sport around in, and gets superb gas mileage from the 2.7 ecoboost. We don't need more since we don't tow much. It rides nice and high and really maneuvers like a smaller vehicle. We load garbage and refuse in the back to bring to the dump and recycling center. Since we purchased it, I have added weather tech floor mats, a soft tonneau, and extra large hammock style seat cover for our labrador. If you get this rig, really consider the massive moonroof. It really makes the ride. The only two observations I would make is that it is disappointing that it did not come with the electronics to program a garage door opener, and despite the high quality cloth seats in the Sport, I would prefer leather, but that comes with the Lariat upgrade which we were not ready to pay for. Looking forward to loading her up later this week for a college drop off trip from New Jersey to Ohio.

I have owned Chevy, Dodge and Ford Trucks in my opinion Ford is the better quality. My 2004 F150 has 215,000 still running good. I went to trade it in and the dealer wouldn't give me anything for it. Now I own two Ford trucks. My 2019 rides and drives like a dream. I do enjoy some of the modern features, back up camera, great sound system, and the basic layout. I'm confident that this truck will last as long as my other one

I purchased a 2019 Ford XL STX 4X4 Crew Cab with 2.7 ecoboost. Friends of mine had a similar trucks(XLT) and just purchased a new one because he liked the 2.7 liter. My dealer experience was very good. I have had no issues with the truck, averaging 20.5 highway and city driving. The shifting of the transmission is smooth, the truck accelerates smartly and feels about the same as my 5.3 liter Chevy Extended cab. Seats are very comfortable and the cab is quiet. I have adapted to the auto start/stop just making sure I lift my foot off the brake and she gets going. The Sync three is easy, and I have it connected to the Ford Pass. Plenty of room in the Supercrew and even my hunting buddies(6'3") fit in the back seat with out knee scrunching. Towed my 16 foot boat and trailer last weekend getting 19.5 mpg. Pulled the same as my Chevy did. I use my truck as a daily commuter in Milwaukee traffic from the suburbs, taking my trips to Northern Wisconsin. I averaged 17.5 with my Chevy, and getting 20.5 with this F150, 3000 miles and no issues. Easier to park than the Chevy and the back up camera helped me line a trailer up perfectly first time with the ball perfectly under the trailer tongue. My wife likes to drive it and feels comfortable and confident in it. Turning radius is tighter than the Chevy was also. I like my trucks straight forward and capable. So far this truck is everything I needed. Good looking, good gas mileage, pulls trailer and snowmobiles without dogging, and plenty of room. Bluetooth phone and satellite radio. Put the transmission in sport mode and you will surprise people with how quick it is. Put it in Eco Mode and I was able to squeeze 24.5 mpg at 75 mph. My vehicles typically run over 200,000 miles. Take care of them, do the maintenance and read the manual before you set foot in the cab and you just might fine that your vehicles do all kinds of wonderful things. When my lease is up I will get another one, adding limited slip and heavy towing, but really, she's fine just the way it is.

Love my 2019 Lariat 5.0 but gas mileage sucks. Rated at 22 in highway gives me 18 at best with very moderate driving. I have 2000 miles on it.

The Ford Max Tow package with the Twin Turbo 3.5 is worth every penny and really performs. The 2019 F 150 is again outstanding. I loved my 2012, but this is a major step up. You cannot beat a Ford, and you absolutely cannot beat an F150!

I bought a 2019 F-150 Limited... It has the high output twin turbo and man does it kick! Love the 10 speed tranny and all the amenities. It was a lease return with 3700 miles- the owner of the dealerships truck. They say he goes through 4 vehicles a year. I’ve put about 1590 miles on it, flat land to 7500’ here in Oregon and Northern California. I could not be more pleased.

Pro: Comfy ride. Good accelerate and powerful engine. Plenty of storage and cargo area with back seats that fold up. So far no issues mechanical. (Knock on wood) Neg: Gas mileage average 18.5 mpg. I drive mostly rural and highway type miles.

Upfront, in 1 1/2 years I have had five warranty claims. Water in tail light, infotainment head unit replacement, cam phase sensor replacement, leaking transfer case and leaking rear engine seal. Service center covered all under warranty and told me don’t sweat it your trucks under warranty but I told them it does not leave me with a feeling of confidence when my truck has been repaired five times in less than one and ahalf years. So I went and bought an aftermarket bumper to bumper warranty and now the truck doesn’t break down of course. The positives about the truck, it is very fast which comes in handy in those situations where people are being a knucklehead around you on the interstate. The suspension is all you could ask for in a truck and I cannot think of anything negative to say about it I love it. The seats themselves are comfortable but the headrest is at a funny angle that will make you push your head just a little bit forward leading to back discomfort on a road trip exceeding three hours. The space in the truck was better than I had anticipated. I can put three car seats across in the back and I can stand up, hunched over of course, and buckle my kids in without trouble. As for gas mileage, if you keep the truck under 75 miles an hour you can expect to see over 17 miles to the gallon on steady cruising. One thing that is kind of a double edge sword is the size of the thing. It is huge. This is good for fitting your whole family and all their gear, but I can be tricky park in the thing or driving in urban settings. This is my first truck,my wife begged me to not get another station wagon, so I always feel a little self-conscious when getting out of this big rig in a parking lot. I used to clown my friends who had gigantic trucks for compensating so that goes through my head every day. I think I got a dud and that raptors are generally more reliable than mine. At least that is what I hope.

Did comparison test drive and rented Ram 1500 based on edmunds review. I am wrong, Ford f150 v6 is far better than Ram v6 engine. Ford has better gas mileage after 5000 miles. I am getting 20 in cities and 23 in highway. Ram 1500 infotainment is distracting, i get eye strain if i look at the screen even when i darken it. Agree RAM interior is better but handling and 0-60 Ford is the best

While the 2019 Ram and GM trucks are out now I still purchased a F-150. I always buy the mi-cycle refresh of my cars. This truck has been perfect the past 5000 miles and I expect many happy miles. If you want the latest bells and features, go to the Ram. If you want reliability and a truck you can pass down, buy the F-150
