Hunting Truck
I spent a bit a time reviewing the trucks of the Big 3 online. But I narrowed it down to the F-150 after talking to many of my friends or family that currently have one. I could not find anyone to had much negative to say about them. Most everyone loved their Ford 150, even if it was several years old.

Excellent truck.
We test drove a really nice '17 F150 among others before opting to buy a new one. The 2017 we drove had a smooth ride, solid handling, and more horsepower than anyone really needs, which is a delight too. This one had the small dash screen with navigation buttons. It works well, and I like way they have 10 easily accessible radio presets in that design. I'm partial to the touchscreen, but the "cheaper" option is pretty intuitive and has its advantages. Overall, if you're going to spend the big bucks for a truck, it should be an F150. They're the standard for pickups, and I can see why.

Near perfect pickup
The low end power on this V6 is insane. With the addition of dual exhausts, better breathing into turbos, this truck would be scary fast. A friend has a brand new Ram 2500 with 6.2 motor and it has less torque than this "little" V6. Torque and HP is better than Ram or GM trucks. The interior amenities and techy goodies in this truck are really cool but also functional and targets safety, as well. People that have ridden in the back seats say it's cavernous. There a few items I think would make this a perfect truck. 1) more front seat comfort. While the massaging option on my Limited is nice, front seats seem to be a little rigid. Great leg room, but would like a little more length in seat area. Navigation commands still need improving. You should be able to ask navi questions and get answers similar to Siri on iPhone. Trying to get to a location without stopping and typing in locations, restaurants or other amenities is cumbersome. Start/stop option on this pickup is one of the best features offered and should be standard on every vehicle, diesels included. This will save billions of gallons of fuel yearly. But all things considered, I'm looking forward to keeping this beauty for at least 4 years. Also looking forward to what Ford's got in store for down the road.

Ford #1
The seats are very comfortable for us, me 6-4 her 5-7. The ride is great. The back doors folding all the way back and completely opening up the passenger compartment is awesome for loading. One recall to keep the door locks from freezing. Power is impressive. I get 21-22 in both local and hwy driving. Been to the dealer several times to check this out. Hwy rating 26. Speed kills the mileage. We did a loop in Main on state hwys 60 max, through a few small towns, got 27.5 actual, Ford shows about 7% high on average. We get about 12 mpg pulling our 4000# Micro Mini at 60 – 65. If I try to jump off the line the tires break loose at maybe 1/3 throttle. At 60 6th 1500, 5th 1800, 4th 2400, 3rd 3000 RPM. I can lock out top gears and unless it is very flat or a tail wind I lock out 6th pulling the camper. It takes a pretty steep grade to hit 3rd, and stay out of the way it’s holding speed. Passed semis barely moving. Drives so well, my wife tows the camper on open road to give me a break. She spoke up going through Texas, “oh I am going 80”. I thought “we are burning lots of gas”. Have 62K using 10K oil changes, and oil does not seem to go down. I like the displays and Sync. The individual tire pressures are great. Had a low pressure light come on. Switched to the pressure screen. I knew to stop as the pressure dropped every few seconds, saved the tire. I recently drove a friends 21 V8 Silverado. The power was not anywhere close to mine! Glad I am not stuck with it. Nov 2022 update: Finally added oil at 67,000 miles. Hopefully not a trend. Replaced the the tires at 75K. No body rust so far. 5-22-24: Over 90-K now Rear transmission seal and pinion seal have slow leaks. Parts will be less than $30. Have not added oil again.

Dont buy a Roush F150
My 2017 Roush f150 has had nothing but trouble. It is back at the dealership now with a possible blown engine. Ford mechanics cant figure out what's up. I am not racing it. Got 68K miles out of my original Mickey Thompson Tires before change out so not spinning tires. Vehicle now has 72K miles on it now and Ford may or may not help me fix it. The truck has a history of multiple shop visits with the mechanic not being able to diagnose the problems with the computer. I have had to replace the rear end, torque converter and now possibly the engine. Also , I tried to sell this truck a couple months ago before recent issues and ford offered my 33K trade in on an 80K truck. Nothing like loosing 47K in 2.5 years in value and now possibly needing to replace a 10K engine. Dont buy a Roush f150
