Worth the wait!
Came from a Honda 1998 CR-V bought new and sold at 210,000 miles, very few problems. Was worried about changing, but just love my Edge. I have it fully loaded with nav, sunroof and towing. The car fits like a glove, when driving or riding. The push start is really nice and the adaptive cruise is great. It's really neat when your car starts to slow down because the car in front of you has slowed down and you haven't even done anything. It makes you feel safer knowing that if you look away, your still not going to hit the car in front of you. My insurance was only $41 more every 6 months than my 1998 Honda because of all the safety features. I love the heated seats. Good Job Ford!
Love our Edge! Best in it's class!
We love our Edge. We drove every other vehicle in it's class and it was clearly the best. We've put almost 60k miles on ours with no problems. Can't wait for the new 2015 Edge to come out. Definitely going to buy another.

Good looking car, A/C and entertainment system not good
Great design, nice leather, great panaramic sunroof. Negatives: entertainment system lacking, radio volume either very low or too loud, no setting for in between. A/C lacking, either at full blast or too low, and blowing right on your or off. A/C resets to Low 60 degrees every time we start a new trip. What happened to resuming my desired settings?
Living on the Edge
I really like this car, lots of room in the back and front. Kids boosters fit fine. Drives like a dream. Take the time to learn how to use sync, it's worth it.
Great Car
Went from 2007 to 2009 mariner to save gas - no power - chose Edge after looking at Subaru, VW, BMW, Mazda CX7 - good deal on a great car. We really like it. Wanted Sync *worked great on Mercury* did not want MyTouch. So we got an SE and got neither lol.
2011 Ford Edge Limited - Loaded
I am really enjoying my new Ford Edge. It is a very comfortable car (I have back issues as times), and it is also roomy enough for my tall family. The car has great safety features and performs well on the road. I love the new MyFord Touch and Synch. I received very good training on the system from my salesman when I picked up the car. I highly recommend taking the time to understand the features; it really is a great system and worth taking the time to learn it! Some people said they had glitches or found it confusing. So far, I have not found that to be an issue. The car handles very well, but the suspension is a little firm.
Should be Recalled
My 2011 Ford Edge is serviced regularly, just before the 5 yr mark it broke down while driving. Found out that there was water in the engine oil and I need a whole new motor at a cost of $7K for a car that was under 5 years old. Because i drive my daughtet to her club soccer tournaments on weekends the mileage was over the warranty and thus Ford would not warrant the motor. A car this new should not require a new motor! Something is definitely wrong with Ford and now the back up camera is flipped upside when reversing.

Hope it lives up to its HYPE!
Nice looking. fairly comfortable, not as smooth of a ride as I expected. Just got back from a 2000 mile trip and averaged 25 mpg on mainly freeway driving.
very low mpg
very very bad gas millage 10 mpg to max 15 mpg city or highway , transmission leaks , audio and panel problems. bad side view .
Problems with snycmyride but it's working now
I've had the Edge for two years. I have yet to get 27 mpg on the highway BUT it seems the gas mileage gets better all the time. It started (using what the vehicle's posting) at 18 mpg and it is up to 21.4 mpg with mostly city driving. I had an issue with the syncmyride - my dealership manager worked with me to make sure it was corrected - I had to get another phone before it worked correctly BUT then after the computer was updated that phone did not work! Then Ford said to look at the list of phones that were compatible with the car. And lo and behold after I bought the compatible phone it has been smooth sailing every since. My phones were all basic phones so the costs were minimal.
Woefully inflated ratings
The 2011 Ford Edge has one of the worst Consumer Reports Ratings and I have first-hand experience as to why. If you buy a 2011 Ford Edge, you are gambling and may be one of the 14% of owners whose MyFord Touch program/system is so faulty that it works less frequently than it malfunctions. Ford was unable to fix my vehicle despite 8 attempts and a lawsuit. In the end, I sued Ford and was awarded a settlement. I am appalled at Ford's response to my real issues and because of this, my review for the Ford Edge is very negative. I married into a Ford family who have all now vowed never to buy a Ford of any type again.
Ford Service is a Joke
We purchased our Edge SE 4 weeks ago and have put 1K miles on it. I switched the headlights to "auto" and the first time it activated the driver side low beam popped. I brought the Edge into the dealer. Going on day 3 and they still have not been able to locate the bulb. They gave me a Nissan Altima as rental replacement as they are keeping my vehicle until it's repaired - for a headlight bulb.
This thing is falling apart ;(
well we bought our edge 4 months ago the sync system has failed 4 times and it runs so slow half the time when you hit a button you have to wait 45sec till it response, its kinda of dangerous because you keep looking and waiting for something to happen. and the power lift gate stoped working and the dealer said its not covered under warrenty because it just needs to be reprogramed. that was $110 for nothing. it shouldn't lose its programing [violative content deleted] ford I own a $44,000 piece of junk thanks ford.
Awesome Drive and comfortable
I love the vehicle. We have all the bells and whistles besides the panoramic roof. It drives very good, usually when you get a new car no matter what it is, you have to get used to it, but I was used to its handling after 10 miles of driving it.
Worst Car Ever!
Ford is the worst car i ever had. I bought a Ford Edge and the water pump went bad which i thought wasnt a big deal. I then found out that the water pump is connected to the engine (i dont know who in the right mind designed that) and it leaked the antifreeze into the engine causing the engine to go bad. My mechanic said that if the engine didnt go bad it costs over 2 thousand to replace the water pump but since I have to replace the engine it cost me over 6 thousand. With any other car a water pump costs about $300 and with Ford over $2000 assuming the engine didnt go bad which in most cases if the water pump goes bad in a Ford, the engine is gone... thats why there is a huge lawsuit against them... google ford water pump lawsuit and you will see!!

Ford Edge Sport Review
I could not stop thinking about the Ford Edge Sport model once I saw the new 2011 come out. The black front grille, the body colored moldings & spectacular 22" wheels. I've owned mine for 3 months and haven't seen another one on the road! That's how rare they are and how much you'll stand out. I couldn't afford a new one so I purchased a 2011 demo in Nov '11 for 8k off sticker! Mine is red. Interior is beautiful as well. System is super super slow though. It's an amazing technology but just not there yet. It's slow to respond and sometimes frustrating but it's what's next. If you have an iphone this screen will bug you because it's not as user friendly or responsive. Still love it!!
Don't buy, Sync system is worthless!
Went from an older BMW X3 to the Edge and now regret it! I've never been a fan of American cars and this is the first one I purchased in nearly 20 years. While I realize the Ford won't have the same performance as my BMW, I was intially impressed by the overall look of the Edge and lured in by the technology. The Sync and navigation system is virtually useless since I bought it six months ago and now being told there's nothing the dealer can do until Ford issues an another update. I've given up using all the features you see touted in the commericals because they don't work or work properly most the time. Do Not Buy a vehicle with Microsoft Sync!
2011 Ford Edge SEL
We bought this car new in 2011 and just traded it in today with 145,000 miles for a new 2020. Not once did we have an issue with the 2011 (no recalls), we got 110,000 miles before replacing the tires and it still has the original brakes. The battery was replaced in 2018. Oil was changed regularly after about 10k miles between changes. The computer told us when to change the oil. Best reliable car we ever had since driving in 1976.

Ford Edge Sport
Forget going to the grocery store in a hurry. You will get quizzed on what you are driving. It goes across all age groups and even just driving around it's a head turner too. We live in X5 and Range Rover Land and for the money there is no comparison. We drove them all including Lexus and Audi and Lincoln too but if aggressive style and value is your deal then this is the vehicle for you. This Edge is fully loaded and it's like toy time for adults. Even our teenagers and their friends have a blast inside. Mytouch and Sync require a learning curve and there is an art to the touch screen too but once mastered it's powerful stuff. Love the reverse camera and killer sunroof too.
Engine blown
I am sad that the water pump breaks without warning and mixes water with oil and destroy s engine No warning light on no smoke no steam nothing Stops and dies and a new engine from Ford is 4300.00 dollars I have always owned a Ford since 16 yrs old I am now 61 and really upset that there is no warning just happens
Good car if it wasn't for...
My particular Edge gave me problems in acceleration (an annoying delay), and if I slowed down and then accelerated it would slam into gear.

Nice, dependable, great buy
I bought used Ford Edge and never had a problem. Runs good, has 330k miles (all highway) and still going. Changed tires a couple of times, had one tune up, changed oil every 3-5k miles and alternated tire rotation. I changed tie rods and struts, and muffler over 200,000 miles. Great buy for me.

Recovering Toyota Addict
I needed to replace my 2002 Toyota Highlander in October and planned to go back and get a newer model. Am I glad that I made a side trip to Ford! My Edge ROCKS! I was so surprised at the upgrades in power, technology, safety features, and quality of interior and exterior trim that I kept asking my sales rep if this was really a Ford! I could not believe that Ford had done such a drastic turnaround but from the looks I get driving around town and the increasing numbers of Edge's I have seen on the road, I believe Ford is serious about getting back into the mid-size SUV/crossover market in a competitive way. If you keep up the value for quality, you have won over a devoted Toyota owner.

Nice Ride
I've had my Edge for about 2 months now and just hit 3k miles. I upgraded from a 2008 Equinox that was always in the shop. I love the 2011 Edge and so far would recommend it. Earlier this week, I was involved in a road rage incident where I was literally being chased by a truck on a major highway. I honestly think the only thing that saved me from a very bad encounter was the handling of the vehicle which allowed me to manuver in and out of traffic quickly and easily (even at speeds close to 100 miles an hour)
Disappointed
So very, very disappointed. I've only had my 2011 Edge a few weeks, but the gas mileage is terrible. While mostly highway miles, I'm barely getting an average of 16 mpg. If this continues, the 19/27 mpg as stated by Ford is a gross misrepresentation. While running errands today, I got 11mpg (50/50 highway miles). I feel mislead and deceived.
Head Restraints
We purchased 2 of the New Ford edge 2011 AWD Limited full house, and the head restraints position is causing us to have severe head, back and neck pain. This is due to the forward leaning position of the front seat head restraints, they are angled too far forward and are not adjustable except for height. This forces the head to bend forward, chin down in an unnatural position. I have been informed that this might have been a requirement to prevent whiplash injury. I am not a test dummy and this position is causing severe NECK ACHE did anyone consider what would happen if a woman sat in this seat with a ponytail.
Worst car purchase ever.
I have had (4) Ford trucks and loved them. No problems. Great trucks. Love the look of the Edge and I bought mine from a dealership, one owner, 62K miles, great CarFax, great shape, no issues best I could tell after inspecting and driving. After 9 months and putting 26K mainly highway miles I have spent $3000 on a leaking PTU - replaced PTU assembly, a shock rear shock gone bad - replaced both, brake issues - fixed, an axle seal gone bad - replaced, a leaking power steering hose - replaced, a transmission that had to be reprogrammed (no charge for this), bad rear wheel hub assembly - replaced.........and at the moment I have a back seat that will not go down which I rarely ever do but the dealership informed me that the release wire/cable had broken and that repair is a bit over $300 and today my sunroof opened and would not close. And the dealership this afternoon looked at it and had no clue what to do other than say bring it back when that have a full day to look at it. At the moment this lemon of a car is in my driveway with the the sunroof wide open and thankfully it's a clear night. Funny thing is I've owner a Toyota 4Runner and I know how dependable those cars are...I was deciding between the Edge and a Toyota Highlander and the Edge was my choice..and the only thing I can remember that sales guy saying who had the Highlander was you better keep in mind, there's a big difference between a Ford car and a Ford truck. Man if only I had listen to him. There you have it. I just got my bank approval back and I cannot trade this piece of junk quick enough.

Love the Edge, Hate SYNC/My Touch
I have owned a 2011 Edge for 5 months now, and for the most part it is a very good vehicle. Comfortable, well built mechanically, and gets the advertised EPA gas mileage if you take it easy. But as many other reviews have said, the SYNC/My Touch systems and everything connected to it such as Blue tooth, Navigation, etc were apparently released to market with no product testing. My wife and I have nicknamed the voice recognition system the "Voice Nonrecognition System". The navigation system seems to know only places that we would never want to go. I should have not dismissed it as a fluke when the navigation system had no idea where the Ford dealership was when we took it for a test drive.
One month and lovin it!
Our Edge is just one month old at this point. We absolutely love this vehicle. It is quiet (traded a'05 Highlander) and much better ride than previous SUV's.The MyFord Touch system has a rather steep learning curve. I am sure it will come in time but at this point we are still learning. Getting about 20 around town and got 31 on a recent 70 mile trip (speed limit was 55)We have been stopped numerous times by people admiring this car. Looked at Lexus, Cadillac, GMC, Honda Toyota but kept coming back to the Edge.Paid invoice and got a fair trade in amount. FYI, the Ford "holdback" is 3% and the advertising allowance is approx. 1 1/2 % So even at invoice the dealer is making about $2000
Couldn't be more satisfied. My EDGE is like a family member.
It's only been 8 months since I drove it off the lot and said to my wife ..."Did I really pay that much fir a Ford !!?" Now I am constantly surprised that I was able to get all these features, and this ride for such a low price. I've owned 2 Accords, a Chrysler Town and Country Limited Van, an RX7, and before that a Chrysler 5th Avenue, and a Mercury Marquis Broughm. They all had their good points ... but none has fit me so well as this Edge. Decent mileage (19.5 city), comfort, all the pickup I need, and easy on the eyes. I'm so sold on it, I should probably quit my job and apply at the local dealers to sell Edges.
My first new car FORD EDGE SPORT. what nightmare
This car has so many issues, the camera stops working, the drivers door latch isn't working. Which is a safety issue. There are 1000 people complaining about it and Ford is ignoring it. They should have a recall. The electrical in this car is dangerous. And the tires OMG.this car is not a good car. I don't recommend a FORD TO ANYONE.

DO NOT BUY THE CAR WITH THE SYNC SYSTEM
I purchased a 2011 Ford Edge with the Sync system. The system does not work Ford is covering up the problem in all of the Edge's and Explorers The dealerships are unable to fix the system My car is my office the whole system does not work can not recieve or talk on the phone Radio some times goes out System re boots on its own If you use your car as your mobile office do not buy I have an internal Ford e mail stating system does not work and supposedly fix is coming in Jan Feb . I bought an American car to support our country. They have not lived up to the problem in their customer service divsion and have not come out publically and admitted they have a problem Maybe they should follow
Happy - still learning
Buy 1wk ago. Not expert, but fairly tech savvy. Fun learning MyTouch etc. Love it. Works like a charm. After 3 years driving Rav4 (V6) it's a pleasure to feel solid vehicle under me again. Two complaints: 1: GPS gives only 1/10mi verbal advise of turn. INSUFFICIENT! This is a dangerous thing. Its accident waiting to happen. They need to fix this. Example: An aftermarket Magellan that I had in Rav4 gave verbals at 2mi; 1/2mi & approaching. That's how it should be done. 2. To change active phone for Sync must acccess account in PC. Not the same as Primary phone for MyTouch. You need to understand the system to know what I'm saying. Simple cure, make changeable from vehicle. See Fav Features
Egonomic Issues - Beware
The good is that I love the looks of this vehicle. The build quality seems to be very good. I have only 1500 miles on the vehicle. Cabin is quiet and rides smooth on large tires. Wireless microphone for cell is very good. But I do have some major issues...they are listed below.
BEST car Ford has ever made!
The title speaks for itself. i love this car. I leased my 2011 edge sport last week. i have all the options on it except for rear seat DVD players. I love everything about it. I get stopped 2 or 3 times a day by other drivers asking about this car. i have had bmw, mercedes, infinit, audi, lexus. none of them compare to this car. go drive one and you'll know what i am talking about.
edge sucks
we looked at a lot of suvs because of the bailouts we elimated gm and chrysler torn between the edge and santafee decided to stay american big mistake ford spent all ther money on gadgets and forgot to make the car quiet we were told it was close to the other one for mialage after 1400 miles lucky to get 22mpg went for the limited hoping for better ride and less noise that was a wast of 7k my 2001 yukon rides better and a lot quiter it has 171k on it and gets 18mpg my wife drives the ford if we travel i will take the yukon very upset with ford they dont even have a comment page on there website chickens;;;;;;;; the edge is nice looking junk dont waste your money buy hundai lots cheaper
Disappointed
Had this car less than 2 years under 30,000 miles. Already returned to the dealership 6 times. Had service for replacement of the main computer chip, replace defective power window switch, faulty fuel injectors, and a couple of sync issues. This was not a cheap vehicle, sticker over $40 grand. Can't take it anywhere afraid won't get home. As soon as I get back from shop trading it in on something other than a Ford! After a few problems still have vehicle and overall pleased. Service related problems, Ford's not dealership, still aggravating.

2011 Ford Edge is bouncy
Have only had my Edge since Sept. When I test drove it the ride seemed good. Now that I bought it and driving it around town, the ride is very bouncy - disappointed in Ford. Maybe they need to change the suspension to be a little bit more firm. The Edge bounces too much on uneven pavement. Used to driving cars with a firmer ride. This is my first Crossover/SUV vehicle and think I made a mistake. So far no problems with the MyFordTouch but it is a little distracting and Ford supposedly has an upgrade for the software. I don't have any problems with the headrests hitting the back of my head. Very quiet ride. Overall nice SUV.
Still loving my 2011 Edge 10 years after 140000
I bought my 2011 SEL Sport in 2014 with 36000 miles. I absolutely love this car. I have had only minimal issues with it after all these years. Installed a hitch with electric brake in 2015, towed a small rv trailer coast to coast and back and it was amazingly strong and efficient. It has every option available at that time except electric lift gate. I would recommend this car to anyone looking for the perfect, comfy and efficient suv!

Very happy with New Edge
Traded 07 Suburban for 09 Mariner. Mercury too small and slow - got a good deal and traded for 2011 Edge. No leather - no sync - no Ford touch - result - good car. Looked at Chevy Equinox, Honda CRV- Acura - Toyota Rav 4 and Highlander - Mazda CX7. Ford seemed better made and more solid. Mazda, even though same underpinings, seemed cheaper and required premium gas. Hit gas in Edge and car goes. Brakes are good and steering feedback are just fine considering it's a CX. Wish it had blue tooth as an option. Hard to see right front end at times. Agree about headrests, but we are used to them now with a little bit of recline in the seat. Biggers wheels improve mileage by 1-3 MP
Great improvements over previous years' models
I got this year's Edge to replace my 2008 model. Ford listened to comments about the earlier models. One complaint I had about the older one was the engine. The transmission was always fishing for the right gear. That is gone now. The engine is much smoother and has a bit more hp. My other complaint was with the brakes. They always felt/sounded like they were grinding. I was told nothing was wrong with them; that's just how they were. They have improved tremendously. I didn't have a lot of confidence in them before. I got the 20" wheels. Very nice. SYNC has improved slightly, but it's still quirky. Ford is quite proud of it, too, as reflected in the price. A little more than it should be.
It wasn't what I expected it to be
I had it for 2/1/2 yrs and was in the shop 11 times, that's not good .. I was very disappointed with it ..
noiise
144k miles on this car and I would rate it above average. My wife drives 60 freeway miles a day and mpg is fine. What is horribly disturbing is the road noise. I drive a 2010 F150 which is 10x more quiet than the Edge. Beware of these review writers who sing the praises of the "quiet" ride this vehicle fails to support. It is not the age nor the mileage as this has been a problem for most of its life. Mechanically fine, comfortable as well but in no way is it quiet.

My return to Ford
First Ford since 2002, and I am very happy to be back thanks to this 2011 Ford Edge. I was shocked at the high class interior, whisper quiet ride, and great fuel economy for a vehicle of this size! More features and gadgets than a techie could ever want! I drove the previous MY2010 and this is so much nicer! The interior has been completely overhauled, 20 more HP, and better MPG!
1st month ownership
After one month and 800 miles the car handles and drives very good. I traded in a 1999 windstar van and it was a great van If Ford still made a van I would have bought one . My husband was a tech for 35 years for our selling dealer. No way would we have a Honda in the drive or much less a Chrysler product. I love to drive it because I am short and the drivers seat goes fore and aft and up and down . Overall this is a great car
