Best bang for the buck in mid-sized trucks!
J. Lee, Lakeland, FL, 06/14/2020
2019 Chevrolet Colorado LT 4dr Crew Cab 4WD 5.1 ft. SB (3.6L 6cyl 8A)
I did some in depth research before purchasing my 2019 Chevy Colorado Crew Cab 2WD LT 3.6-V6 5.1ft bed. Edmunds had a great video comparing the 2019 Colorado, Ranger & Tacoma to analyze standard features, interior space, power and Towing, ride comfort, and off-road capabilities. After watching the video it helped make a decision on the best bang for the buck for my needs. I love the … ride and the stance of the truck. I didn't need 4-wheel drive, but I did opt for the electronic locking rear differential which comes in handy when parking in muddy grass parking lots during the summer rains in Florida. The 305 hp 3.6 naturally aspirated V6 is the best engine option for this truck. And has plenty of power and with the towing package allows me to tow up to 7,000 lbs.
I'm 6'1 235lbs and the front seats offer plenty of front leg and headroom and with the power driver seat I can adjust it for maximum comfort. The only thing that kept me from giving this truck 5 star's was I would like to have some more padding on the bottom of the front seats. One feature I really think is great is the gauge cluster center screen that displays the current speed limit for the road your driving on.....it can sure help avoid speeding tickets where speed limits drop real quick. The HD Bose infotainment system is user friendly and sounds awesome. I've had the truck for 14 months and have had no problems at all, and the average MPG on the highway has ran between 28/30 mpg.
exactly what it says it is

2019 Chevrolet Colorado LT 4dr Crew Cab 4WD 5.1 ft. SB (3.6L 6cyl 8A)
Having the vehicle for 7,500 miles: The Colorado is exactly what Chevy says it is: a capable midsize pickup. The trucks has excellent road manners but is still very capable. I have loaded the truck to max payload and there was little effect on the handling. I routinely tow a boat and again, very capable. The smaller size means I can park it in the Garage and not panic in lots with … small parking spaces. The Colorado is exactly what Chevy said it is and what I was looking for.
I have an LT crew shorty with the V6 and 8 speed, 2WD. There has been some press about the transmission but I find it one of the best I have every had. Very smooth, responsive, and well mated to the excellent V6 which is also excellent. I really like the way the truck drives and acceleration is very good. Fuel economy is exactly what it says on the sticker and only slighter worse than my previous small SUV with a 4 banger. Its hard to complain about the utility and driving characteristics.
In regards to creature comforts: the large screen infotainment system is easy to use and as good as anything on the market. visibility is pretty good and the slow moving tailgate is a nice touch.
Downsides: the seats are not that comfortable, they are OK, but should be better. In-cabin storage and utility: Well, those that designed the door and rear seat storage need to find another job. Pitifully poor execution and way behind the competition.
And finally, value. I purchased this vehicle for considerably less than a comparable Ranger or Tacoma. Only the Frontier offers a similar value and that truck is not in the same class and the Colorado. Considering this vehicle and the competition, I can recommend the Colorado.
Tranmission issues
John Weisenseel, La Jolla, CA, 04/10/2020
2019 Chevrolet Colorado LT 4dr Crew Cab 4WD 5.1 ft. SB (3.6L 6cyl 8A)
Transmission has numerous issues. Irregular shifting when accelerating, decelerating, going up hills. If you don't come to complete stop and accelerate, the transmission bucks and feels like you missed a gear or two. Service representative called it a "skip shift" transmission as opposed to sequential gear transmission. Dealer states that GM designed the transmission this way and … that is the way the 8 gear transmission functions. There is nothing that can be done to fix the problems. Worst transmission that I have had in numerous vehicles owned. Don't buy this vehicle or one that comes with an 8 gear transmission. Have lost confidence in GM and Gm products.
Disappointed
Mike, Ponca City, OK, 06/22/2020
2019 Chevrolet Colorado LT 4dr Crew Cab 4WD 5.1 ft. SB (3.6L 6cyl 8A)
Bought a 2019 LT 4X4 brand new. One year later and 3700 miles later, it has developed an electronic that neither my dealer or GM seems to be able to repair. At intermittent times, the doors unlock and lock again, and the transmission brings the truck almost to a crawl. The TCM has been replaced, but it still has its fits. Just beware if you are thinking about buying!

Which Colorado does Edmunds recommend?
The Chevrolet Colorado LT is ideal for buyers who want car-like amenities such as keyless entry and an 8-inch infotainment screen at a reasonable price. A long list of options and features are available to tailor your truck to your needs. Get the V6 instead of the four-cylinder if you can. Its extra power is worth the cost. It's nearly as fuel-efficient, too. The expensive diesel-powered engine option might have some appeal if you do a lot of towing, but otherwise we say skip it.

Driving
8.0The V6 engine is lively, and the eight-speed automatic is well-behaved. Past the praiseworthy powertrain, the Colorado also handles decently well for a truck, even if the steering lacks feedback. If off-roading is important to you, the Colorado shouldn't be your first choice.
Comfort
7.0The Colorado offers a better ride than many of its competitors. Noise isolation, climate control and seat adjustability are rudimentary, but the Colorado is designed well enough that drivers with pickup-truck expectations will be comfortable.
Interior
8.0As befits a midsize truck, the driving position and controls offer upright simplicity. Even as a crew cab, the Colorado is best up front. The rear seat is cramped and difficult to access, especially since side steps are optional extras. The large roof pillars create some problematic sightlines.
Utility
7.5The Colorado offers high towing and hauling ratings, but it can't match the Ridgeline for usability. The bed is narrower, even if it boasts a higher total volume. The rear seats don't fold flat, and there are no clever compartments for enclosed storage of larger items.
Technology
8.5Chevrolet offers solid in-car technology thanks largely to its Infotainment 3 system, which is easy to use and feature-rich. Unfortunately, the Colorado lags behind in terms of useful on-road active safety technology.
