Disappointing, fragile and a money pit

I was hoping that the plug in hybrid would provide a good balance between an electric car and a mountain car that would allow for longer range trips without worrying about charging. The charge only gets to 33 "miles" in the summer and about 24 in the winter and these "miles" are more like kilometers in terms of the actual range. The car is heavy because it has two engines and this makes it less responsive. The car is expensive to maintain. A simple crack in the tail light is more than $500 to fix and it just gets more expensive from there.

GREAT CAR - IMPOSSIBLE CUSTOMER SUPPORT

Purchased a 2021 Q5 in April, 2021. Have been unable to setup the driver authorization system since purchase. Repeated attempts to contact customer service for assistance result in hold time exceeding 1 hour. The one time I was able to get through the info forwarded was that a software glitch was the problem. Here is one of the prestige auto companies not able to fix a software glitch in many months. Further reacted attempts to cont act them have failed Phone results in holds, no email access provided, chat indicates there is a software problem. No way to express dissatisfaction. Would I buy another AUDI. Vey doubtfull

I own this new 2021 "car" for 2 months and already have to repair at the dealership as the emission quality warning light is on. The manual instructs to slowly drive the car to nearest dealership to avoid damage to catalytic converter.

2nd Road Trip - 1 Summer - 2 Major Issues

Bought 2021 Q5 PHEV March 2021. Aside from what I would call general user interface issues (ex: turn on sequence not intuitive, CARPLAY often unresponsive, display just goes “dark” intermittently for no reason) which I’d call personal preference and minor annoyances, it’s been OK. But this summer this car with ~30K miles has had TWO major issues while I’ve been in out of state road trips which in my book is just unacceptable & scary. 1st- “Electrical system: malfunction! Safely stop vehicle” while in Durango (~2wks from the completed 30K service btw) and now while gearing up to drive back from Coronado, CA to Phoenix,AZ, the catalytic converter malfunction light comes on last night, today disappears, and now the A/C is inoperable! I am getting ready to drive across the desert to Phoenix tomorrow (with 2 kids) in the same car that was fixed (for the 1st issue - bad control switch to HVPS which I now understand could have stranded us at any time) and had a “multi pt inspection” less than 2 weeks ago, with NO A/C and record temps. Reading these reviews (which I sought out in frustration), it seems I’m not alone in these reliability woes. Paying $50+K for a car with these kinds of issues 2 years in = fix it, then dumping it.

Limp mode at 1300 miles

I have owned this Q5 for 5 weeks. Suddenly, all of these failure messages started popping up and vehicle would barely move. Dealer said “computer glitch”, reset computer and installed updates. Picked up vehicle, check engine light back on. Now Audi says it’s the throttle body and ordered a new one. I’m very skeptical. I hope this isn’t a common problem. I’m not happy with my first Audi. I need reliable transportation. I don’t feel confident in this vehicle. Would like to hear I’m an isolated problem. But seems to be a popular problem UPDATE: Audi dealer found defective throttle from factory and replaced it with a new one. Ordered on Saturday and picked up car today, Tuesday 9-28-21. Runs great and problem gone.
