Stunning Design, Frustrating Ownership
Lex, 02/15/2026
2024 Maserati Grecale Modena 4dr SUV AWD (2.0L 4cyl Turbo gas/electric mild hybrid 8A)
I wanted to love this car. The Maserati Grecale is beautiful. It looks special in a parking lot, the proportions are right, and when everything is working, it drives well. But ownership has been defined by persistent electrical and technology issues that you simply do not expect at this price point.
I have dealt with repeated proximity sensor failures where the car will not lock or … unlock with the key in my pocket. The rear hatch often refuses to open unless I physically hold the key in my hand. I regularly get “key not found” warnings while driving. The infotainment system freezes or cycles screens. The tire pressure monitoring system throws false warnings. Even more concerning, the Park and Start/Stop buttons do not always engage properly. On one occasion the vehicle remained on overnight because the ignition did not shut off as expected. That is not a minor inconvenience. That is a safety concern.
Maserati is trying to grow its presence in this market, but reliability and ownership experience matter. The Grecale looks the part. It does not deliver the confidence, polish, or durability that buyers in this segment expect.
I wanted Italian character with modern execution. Instead, I got Italian character with electrical gremlins.
Very nice car - a great choice
