I believe the volt goes some 38 miles before the battery is depleted. Good for you if your commute milage closely matches that & you can recharge for your trip back home.
You completely ignore the cost of electricity which is what you mostly use. How does that factor in the total cost?
And good for you if you got the final price down because of fed & state incentives for electric cars (which will probably die in a year or two just like they did for hybrids). How do you think your decision would be without that? Just pay the 10K more over a prius? For a Chevrolet vs a Toyota with 10 years + of track record in hybrids? Just putting your strong position in perspective.
