INFINITI

Infiniti is a Japanese automaker that serves as the luxury arm of the mainstream Nissan brand. Its lineup primarily consists of SUVs that compete in popular segments, though it does offer a potent sedan for shoppers who want a sportier driving experience. That would be the Q50, which is motivated by a turbocharged V6 on every trim level. (While most versions produce 300 horsepower, the top-spec Red Sport 400 dials the output to — you guessed it — 400 hp.) The QX50 marks the entry point to Infiniti's SUV offerings, and it's notable for the unusual engine technology it employs. It was the first production vehicle with a motor that featured variable compression ratios, which changed as a driver wanted better fuel efficiency or called on for more power. The same engine lies under the hood of the QX55, which is a more stylish take on the QX50. As with other "coupe-like" crossovers, the hood behind the front row is down-swept, resulting in a sleeker profile at the expense of rear headroom and cargo capacity. If you need more room, the QX60 should suffice. This midsize three-row does without the QX50's exotic powertrain, but its V6 is reasonably powerful and efficient. The family-friendly crossover is also notable for its nicely appointed cabin and wealth of standard features. If money is no object, the even larger QX80 sits at the pinnacle of the Infiniti lineup. The sizable three-row is the only truck-based SUV in the lineup, and as such, competes against heavy hitters like the Cadillac Escalade and Lexus LX. Infiniti is treating the 2025 redesign as a relaunch for the brand, so the QX80 has a lot riding on its broad shoulders.
