We were shopping for something a little bigger (Vibe, Matrix, Focus) but this little car suits us just fine for $5000 less. Our Rio5 5-speed takes us on 100 mile round trips at least twice a week, plus a few miles back and forth to work each week. It gets up to 70 with no problem, cruises at 75-80 comfortably. The shifting is a little stiff in reverse, but otherwise smooth.
There's more room behind the back seat than appears. We're just shy of 3000 miles and get 32 mpg; started at about 30. We're hoping to get the 35 mpg after a little more break-in time.
Definitely cruise control, tinted windows would be nice in the back, and either a better armrest or middle console. I have a little trouble putting my 5 speed in reverse. Wants to pop out sometimes.
