TURIN — The Alfa Romeo Gloria, a concept car jointly developed by the automaker with students at the European Design Institute of Turin, is on its way to the 2013 Geneva Auto Show.

The automaker says the concept targets American and Asian audiences.

The concept has been designed with a "state-of-the-art V6 or V8 biturbo engine" in mind, said Alfa Romeo. The Alfa Romeo Gloria gets a contrasting roof line, a long hood and LED headlights.

"The leather strips at the front recall the memorable leather straps for the luggage compartments of the brand's historic cars," said Alfa Romeo in a statement on Friday.

The curvaceous concept will be the focus of an Alfa Romeo iPad app that lets users switch among five body colors and wheel choices.

The Gloria joins the 2014 Alfa Romeo 4C (http://www.edmunds.com/auto-shows/geneva/2013/2014-alfa-romeo-4c-unveiled-ahead-of-2013-geneva-auto-show.html), which will take center stage for the Italian brand at the 2013 Geneva Auto Show.

Edmunds says: The students earn an A+ for an impressive project.
