Used 2005 Toyota Prius Consumer Reviews
2005 Toyota Prius
It's just a fun car. There is a learning curve involved with getting the promised mileage. Once you learn to ease your foot off the gas and trust the electric motor, the gas savings can be impressive.
Nice Car!!
I really enjoy this car! There are a few things that could be better. The rear view dimmer mirror is nice when cars are far away, but when they get close as the often do, the mirror does not dim. There is one feature that doesnt make sense. If you are going down the road and listening to the radio, in the console there is a button that says there is a message, and when you go to push it to see it, there is a message that comes up that says that you cant view the message while driving! I really enjoy the great gas mileage. I have seen my average say 57 before, which was great for going up and down 2 mountains one way to work. The car is a bit expensive, but great otherwise.

Prius, a practicle, inteligent direction
Review based on one year of daily use, combined city and highway driving in both summer and winter. Positive: Great economy, comfortable, promotes conservative driving style. Well designed interior that optimizes room, comfort and ergonomics, offers excellent forward & lateral visibility. Excellent fit and finish. When pushed to the limit it behaves predictably. Negative: Too sensitive to cross winds at highway speeds, poor visibility when reversing (would benefit from active sonar). Spartan interior could offer sun roof & memory power seats etc. Over-boosted brakes and steering resulting in little driver feedback (probably a positive for average North American driver).
Over 60 MPG
With 2000 miles, I'm averaging 62mpg (actual calculated mileage). I'm a conservative driver and have learned to squeeze every mile out of a gallon. I should get 65+mpg during the fall and winter.
2005 Prius
Don't expect the advertised 50 - 60 mpg. Best I've done is 44 miles per gallon and I've talked to other Prius owners with the same experience. Great road handling and ride. Fast 0-60 and actually, the faster you go the easier it is on gasoline since the electric engine kicks in. If you want a $20,000 model expect to wait two years for one. The upgrade to leather and nav system is well worth it. The Pirelli performance tires and fancy 17 inch wheels are prone to flats from potholes. This baby is fast with great speed and transmission.
