Driving the FJ from Dallas to California

Purchased the FJ in late October, my first trip was for a total of 4026 miles. I drove at speeds up to 105 mph, the FJ performed flawlessly; I used both high and regular octane fuel. My average was 20 mpg, never used the 4WD. We drove to the Grand Canyon, Sequoia NP and Yosemite, The return trip was down Hwy 1, from Monterey, Big Sur and across Hwy 46. The FJ was fun to drive with out any incidents. Most driving fun was on I40, two black H2 Hummers were coming up in the passing lane, I was behind a truck and moved over behind the first H2, the second H2 moved up behind me. It looked like two black H2s were escorting my Voodoo Blue. They wanted to lose me thus the 105 MPH and could not.

I have added a few mods on the car. 3 " lift. And a front bumper and winch. I can go places most vehicles can't. Jeeps. Hummers and other 4x4 vehicles have a devil of time keeping up . Most can't. Not great on fuel mileage. And has a few blind spots. But by far the best vehicle I have bought. Thanks Toyota for thinking outside the box. You got it right I this one.

Best SUV I have ever owned!!

I bought a used 2007 FJ in 20016 with just over 100k on the speedo and now have just over 120k. I have always liked these vehicles but did not want to spend the money they fetch. I finally found one in great shape in my budget. Let me first say, I have owned all kinds of cars, trucks and SUV in my time to include Jeeps, Lexus, Porsch, BMW, Mercedes, etc. At the time I was considering the Hummer, Jeep, and FJ. I am soooo glad I went with the FJ. I can not say enough good things about the SUV. I love the look, it has great road manners, goes great in snow, mud, off road etc (with the right tires) and always gets compliments. The FJ gets compliments from all kinds of people from young, old, black white, etc. I have heard the "complaints" some people have about the FJ. It is to plain on the inside, it has blind spots, the back windows do not roll down, do not like the suicide doors, etc. Let me say, that some are understandable but to me well worth it. Yes, I would love for the back windows to roll down, yes, I would love an over head storage area. Other than that I have no issues. Blind spots? Learn how to drive. Interior to plain? Buy a Lexus. Suicide doors? Buy a 4 door jeep. This is a purpose built (off road) vehicle that works well driving around town or on long trips. I love the utility look of the inside with little frills, and basic controls. I love the retro feel and look of the exterior. For a purposes built SUV it is plenty comfortable but it is not Lexus comfortable. Mine has all the extras for the year model like dash mounted gauge package, A-Track, rear diff lock, etc. I would highly recommend finding one with these features. While not as many aftermarket parts like a Jeep, their are plenty enough to hurt your pocket book. Did I mention the crazy high resell value these things hold? Look it up, one of the highest in the market. It is nice to know you can drive and enjoy it and not loose your shirt a few years later. I plan on keeping this forever and never selling. If the old FJ's are a sign the FJ cruiser is destine to be a classic and highly collectible. Heck, it is already that way now much less in 20 or 30 years. One obvious point that it has is the Toyota reliability. I have only done general maintenance on mine with no issue. It uses and leaks zero oil between oil changes. I have seen a few owners reporting 200k to over 300k on the original motor and transmission. I cant say enough good things about the FJ Cruiser and have enjoyed it every minute I have owned it. It is a vehicle I enjoy every time I get in it and most owners I know are the same way about theirs. Get one you will not regret it. Update: I still own it and now have 156k with no issues and still love it. I have dud some modifications such as ARB bumber, winch, etc.

I bought my Fj one year ago with 60000 miles, trading in my 4 runner. Have no regrets about it. I have close to 80000 miles on it now and have had no problems at all. Absolutely love this vehicle. If you are thinking about getting one, do not hesitate. You will regeret not owning this fine piece of work.

I love my FJ! I have had it for 3 months, and have not found one thing I don't like about it. Everywhere I go people ask "what kind of truck is that" "how much was it" etc etc. I'm not afraid to say that I've had at least 1 positive comment a day since my purchase. Mine is yellow. I'm very impressed with the on-road comfort. Every 4x4 I've ever had was rough on road, but not the FJ. The inside is super easy to clean. My little 4 year old boy loves it too, and the back is perfect for him, even on long trips. I have to say I wouldn't change anything about it, except maybe a little better gas mileage. Best purchase ever!
