Special ordered a TRD PRO package. Waited 6 months for the delivery But it was totally worth it. Beautiful and sleek ride. So impressed with how capable this vehicle is. The modes for crawling are easy to switch in and out of and the tech is intuitive. The roof basket is a step above the previous generation and I am so happy I bought this vehicle.

Have loved 4Runners growing up and finally was able to purchase one - coming from a BMW X3 this just gives me way more peace of mind and drives like a dream. Love the space and utility of this vehicle.

Best car I've ever owned!!

I have owned a lot of vehicles ranging from Jeep, Hyundai, Chevy, Pontiac, Nissan, Ford, Suzuki, Mercury...and now Toyota. I've always known Toyotas to be reliable and well worth the price, but had never purchased one. But now I am getting to see what they are talking about. I love everything about my 4runner....EVERYTHING. It handles very well and I traded in a 22 Hyundai Kona for it....(yes I owned it for 9 months and realized it was just too small). In my opinion it drives just like a car, very smooth, and I don't feel like I'm driving an SUV half the time. I didn't buy one with all the bells and whistles because I don't need all of that...my Hyundai had it and it was super annoying at times with all the alerts and what not. It's comfortable and stylish and I get a ton of compliments on it. Well worth the cost and I would buy another one in a heart beat but they are so hard to find now a days. Any way....ultimately it's a great vehicle! I am beyond happy with my purchase!

Updated July: Already made 10k KM. I take it to islands and Rockies. It is clearly under powered when climbing up the mountain highways around Banff and Jasper. Uphill, acceleration is very slow and transmission is not responding to gas pedal above 90km/h. But I use manual shifts to over come that. It is a little clumsy because of the size of the shift lever. I still have to floor the gas from time to time. It is still slow. The fun comes up when the vehicle rides on and off payments off the Rockies. The sweet spot is 60-80 km/h. The suspension and OEM Dunlop tires handle the road very well and absorb most potholes. It holds together tight and has no rock and roll. And, it goes any where it finds a trail. I have read lots of criticism about the tires. But They seem to be quite okay on dry pavement and light off roading. The real beauty is the feel of calm and certainty that it will not let you down no matter where it goes. It is something the pricier SUVs could not give. I owned a G Wagon and have experienced some most ridiculous "misdemeanor" mechanical failures: could'nt close windows just before checking into hotels, all four windows and one at a time. Each time, it took the fun from travel. Owned another German SUV - lots of issues. The one that is most annoying is repeated failure of some electronics. The electronics limps from time to time and all AC, radio channel and tunable suspension get frozen. Window glasses go down but do not go up. The bottom line: if you value simple yet colorful, worry free life, 4Runner definitely complements it. Bought a 2022 4Runner TRD Off Road from Regency Toyota in Vancouver. This truck exceeds all my expectations. It was a spur of the moment purchase about two weeks ago. I had been looking at Ford F150 for a while. The only drawback is the right side mirror does not tilt down when the vehicle is backing up.

My Take On The 2022 Off Road Premuim

First, let me start by saying I am somewhat partial to the 4 runner. I have owned almost every generation of the 4 runner. Every single 4 runner I owned gave me ZERO problems only normal maintenance was required even then it was a very forgiving truck and the resale on it is enormous!. Something you cannot say about other brands. I just recently purchased a 2022 4 runner off-road premium. It is outstanding and a notch above the other generations in my opinion, Why? because it has a huge Tech upgrade and fantastic handling on the road and off the road. So far I have 1,050 miles on this one. The other generations I have clocked over 200,00 with no problem whatsoever. This 2022 off-road seems different to me however because it seems to handle better and to me, it just feels more solid. I am guessing because of the off-road suspension?. It is a huge technological upgrade from all other 4 runner generations but still VERY user-friendly and easy to understand when in actual use!. The seats feel better than past generations and the Nav screen is much bigger and easy to use. I love the new feature that leaves a bread crumb when traveling off-road or off the map or if you lose a satellite signal you can still find your way back by following the trail it leaves for you ( love this ). I have lost signal before and always had an issue finding my way back NOT WITH THIS MODEL YEAR. Plenty of storage, roomy yet not too large of a truck to manage around town. Lastly, I cannot say enough about the off-road features/ abilities as well. I can write a book on this but suffice it to say it is a beast off-road and while it is extremely capable off-road it has very good on-road manners with a very nice ride.I rarely go off-road so much if my time is spent on the road. Love this truck so far, great job Toyota. Downside of this and all 4 runners is fuel economy. I get around 17 around town and about 20 on Hwy. Not too bad for highway speed. I cannot think of any other downside to this 4 runner. I love the surround camera when you drive slow it shows you a 360 view of the truck so you can avoid any obstacles. Finally, the destination assist with a live operator will help you if you are lost and need quick directions then they send those directions directly to your nav system and you just hit go!. I will leave you with this; I have heard that 2023 will have 4 cyl in it !! this is the main reason for i bought the 2022 model year. Don't miss out on this model year you will be glad you got it.
